Bookwormjillk I kept waiting for something shocking to happen but I guess they‘re all just happy and all the evil people are dead. Oh well 🤣 12h

Bklover I feel bad for Marian. Forever the aunty. 12h
BarbaraJean It was a bit anticlimactic! More dramatic vindication would have been nice. Or at least a hilarious dramatic deathbed scene with dear Uncle. I‘m just glad Pesca didn‘t have to kill Porkchop. 12h
BarkingMadRead @BarbaraJean I definitely hoped for better deaths 🤣 12h
mcctrish @Bookwormjillk #atleastthebadpeopledied small mercies and @BarbaraJean silver lining for Pesca 👏🏻👏🏻 11h
Bookwormjillk @BarbaraJean good point- happy for Pesca 11h
ElizaMarie @Bklover YES! I feel so badly for Marian. Like she was a super amazing woman, and if only she wasn't so ugly - ha! I mean, she kinda gets a happily ever after, but... only kinda? 11h
dabbe It creeped me out how #countporkchop lusted/loved Marian. There has to be someone out there for her! But you know what? She's Wilkie's independent woman, so maybe it's fitting that she ends up happily on her own. She, Walt, and Anne were my favorites. Oh, and Pesca, too!

Thanks for another fabulous read, #hashtagbrigade and our wittiest leader, @BarkingMadRead! 🤩🙌🏻🤩
11h
Clare-Dragonfly Heck yeah they did! I suspected that foreigner with a scar on his face might be the Brotherhood‘s vengeance but when he left the Count alone when Walt arrived at his house, I wasn‘t sure. He got the ending he deserved! 6h
Clare-Dragonfly Does anyone remember, if Laura hadn‘t managed to produce a son, would someone else have inherited Limmeridge? Or would a daughter have done the trick? Or could she have inherited in her own right? 6h
Ruthiella @Bklover @ElizaMarie @dabbe We can all write our own ending for Marian. I see her meeting Mr. Gilmore‘ son (or nephew or daughter or niece, whatever your flavor) and starting a beautiful partnership both personally and professionally as private detectives. 6h
Ruthiella @Clare-Dragonfly I think she would have inherited in her own right. 6h
TheAromaofBooks I ended up loving this one!! Thanks so much for hosting @BarkingMadRead - this one was an unexpected win for me 😂 6h
BarkingMadRead @Ruthiella I love that ending!! @TheAromaofBooks I was pleasantly surprised as well! I really loved this one! 6h
dabbe @Ruthiella Love this! 🤩🤩🤩 4h
KAO I enjoyed this a lot! Thanks so much! 3h

Clare-Dragonfly Why was this so fun and SO GROSS at the same time? I nominate we change his name from #countporkchop to #countcreepula 1d
See All 10 Comments
mcctrish I laughed out loud twice during #countporkchop ‘s side of the story with his insertions about how awesome he is 🤣🤣 but cringed at how much he looovvvveeddd Marian ( but it saved her so yay Marian) every time someone describes him I hear in the back of my mind “how fat was he?” like part of a running joke 1d
Bookwormjillk Honestly I would read a whole book told from the POV of Uncle and Count. They‘re awful but so funny. And he wasn‘t wrong about Marian. 1d
BarkingMadRead @Clare-Dragonfly for real! I laughed the whole time. @mcctrish I could only use drawings of him, the actors they used were never fat enough 🤷🏻‍♀️ 1d
Bklover The illustration is perfect!😂😂 1d
BarbaraJean @Bklover The illustration is absolutely perfect, in no small part because at first I interpreted the right hand as a foot and his belly as the leg attached to that “foot,“ and the ridiculousness of that pose + the ridiculousness of seeing my error had me cackling 😂 😂 Also: does he have smoke coming out of his ear?!? What is happening?! 1d
BarkingMadRead @BarbaraJean omg I never noticed that smoke, wtf?!? 1d
ElizaMarie @BarbaraJean The SMOKE!!! Ha maybe its a “he is full of hot air“ type of reference. 15h

Bklover Who is the sneaky foreigner who follows porkchop? Hopefully one of the good guys! 2d
See All 12 Comments
BarkingMadRead @Bklover I hope we find out, there‘s not much left! 2d
Clare-Dragonfly I was highly suspicious that the Count was really a spy back when Laura said it randomly! #yaypesca #waltlauramarianthrouple #changemymind 2d
Bklover @Clare-Dragonfly Laura doesn‘t actually say a whole lot in this book, so it was definitely notable! She‘s generally too busy being fragile 😉 2d
Bookwormjillk Porkchop‘s schedule and his description of the birds had me cracking up. 2d
Ruthiella I read many years ago somewhere that Count Fosco was an influence on the Bond villain, Bloefeld (the one with the white cat). I see the connection. Charming but deadly. Fond of animals. 2d
mcctrish Porkchop laughing at Walt not accepting coffee - the English always pick the wrong thing to be worried about. Yet the Italian played a long con for something Laura would have happily given her aunt - her inheritance and skipped the murder/lock up 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2d
ElizaMarie @BkLover I love your description of Laura #TooFragileToFunction :) I hope this #MysteryMan does something!!! (edited) 2d
ElizaMarie #INeedATwist at the end! 2d
Leftcoastzen #yaypesca I‘m so tired of #countporkchop making their lives miserable. Love the scene where he grows fearful at the Opera ! 1d

Ruthiella I feel like Percy got off too easily. A terrible death, yes. But where‘s the justice? 5d
See All 10 Comments
mcctrish This was wild and I am still not convinced #percypig died. I‘m with @Ruthiella too easy #whatawickedweb 5d
BarbaraJean @Ruthiella I felt the same. I need to see vindication! @mcctrish Could Percy have a doppelganger as well? 😂 5d
Clare-Dragonfly I was right! 🙌🏻 Though what Walt discovers seems to prove above all that #percypig‘s so-called parents weren‘t married. So why does Mrs. Clements think Sir Felix was married? There are more mysteries to unravel. I also disagree with him: I think #percypig is just the kind of idiot to set the fire on purpose. The Count would have had a better plan, but obviously #percypig didn‘t want #countporkchop to know his Secret. 5d
Leftcoastzen I‘m thinking more mysteries to come ! I knew when that notation seemed wedged in , no marriage, but so many layers with this story ! Yeah , I could imagine #percypig could have set fire on purpose, not knowing he was trapped. 5d
Bookwormjillk I was a little disappointed in the secret to be honest, but am now thinking either Count set the fire or Percy escaped. 5d
ElizaMarie Because the other dude has gotten confused and thought Walt was Percy —- it makes me think Percy is alive. And/Or he might have tries to catch Walt in the fire and kill him instead? #SomethingIsOff #IDontTrustThis 5d
BarkingMadRead @ElizaMarie I wondered the same, you kind of need someone who knows the man to ID him 🙄 5d

Ruthiella Even though I have read this before, I don‘t remember Percy‘s secret. I‘m on tenterhooks! 🫣 6d

BarkingMadRead @Ruthiella it better be good! 6d
Bookwormjillk Great pic. Also Laura calling out the fact that Walt and Marian make a better couple. Even she knows. Seems cruel to make her think she's making money with those drawings though. 6d
BarkingMadRead @Bookwormjillk I feel like this could bite them in the butt 6d
mcctrish Everyone knows Walt and Marian belong together! 🤣if only she wasn‘t so ugly ☹️ The #manofaction really is an evil mastermind, Marian and Laura know #countporkchop needs to be stopped 6d
Clare-Dragonfly I am growing stronger in my belief that #percypig isn‘t really who he says he is! If he was born abroad it would be pretty easy to fake—either he switched places with the real Glyde child, or there was no real one, or he‘s illegitimate and just pretended to be legit when he came back. But how does Mrs. Catherick know his secret? And who is Anne‘s father? And could Mrs. Catherick not really be her mother? So many mysteries! 6d
Clare-Dragonfly @Bookwormjillk Yeah, I really don‘t like that they‘re lying to her about that ☹️ You‘d think they could have come up with some real work for her to do. 6d
ElizaMarie Hmm.. I am confused about the ages here. Is Anne young and #PercyPig old enough to be her father? What if #CountPorkChop is the daddy? No, that wouldn't be it. Maybe the who #WhoIStheDaddy is a #RedHerring. This is 1/2 Telenovela 1/2 Jerry Springer 1/2 Maury (ha!) - You are NOT the father! 6d
Ruthiella @Bookwormjillk @BarkingMadRead Maybe they are the perfect Victoria thruple. 😱😂 (edited) 6d
Leftcoastzen Interesting reading but I need to find out the secret! 6d
Ruthiella @ElizaMarie I think Percy is at least 15 years older than Ann or Laura. So he could be the father. But as Walt surmises, that seems unlikely based on his and Mrs. Catherick‘s behavior. 6d
BarbaraJean @Ruthiella Me too!! The only parts I remember vividly from my first reading are Walt‘s exclamation of “the lady is ugly!” and Dear Uncle‘s parentheticals. I do NOT remember The Secret that is so central to the plot… 🤦🏻‍♀️ 6d
Ruthiella @BarbaraJean What I remembered was the barest outline of the plot and the charming but dangerous Count Fosco. His was the only character name I remembered. 😂 6d
BarbaraJean @Ruthiella The Count is pretty memorable! I never trusted #countporkchop on this reading, but I don't know if that's my memory or just that he's clearly dangerous from the beginning. When I correctly anticipate plot points, I'm never quite sure whether I'm picking up the clues Collins is giving us, or if I'm just remembering it from before and not realizing that I remember it. 😂 6d
Marctgore I genuinely enjoyed it. I've been thinking about adapting your story into my comic style, and I would be thrilled to bring it to life in that format. I believe you'll be pleased with the results, and perhaps you'd even consider sharing it once it's done.

BarkingMadRead @Marctgore I do believe you are in the wrong place 🤣 6d
KAO @BarkingMadRead Nowhere is safe from these guys! 😂 6d
mcctrish Apparently Marci Gore is new on IG too 🤷🏻‍♀️ I guess we should be thankful when the scammers are so obvious, not like #percypig and #countporkchop (edited) 5d
BarkingMadRead @kao @mcctrish at least put some effort in there 🤣 5d
BarkingMadRead @mcctrish I‘m also the only actual person she‘s following, should I feel special? 5d
mcctrish At least she‘s reading P & P - CoHo would be a serious red flag 5d
BarkingMadRead @mcctrish 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 5d
dabbe @mcctrish @BarkingMadRead @KAO ... Here's what @Marctgore wrote on @Crinoline_Laphroaig's post re: P&P:
“Hi there! Your book is incredibly fascinating and impressive; it is genuinely unique and captivating. I'd be delighted to offer some suggestions to boost its popularity and success...“

I. Kid. You. Not. Apparently he/she thinks P&P was not written by Austen. 😳🤣😳

mcctrish @dabbe because they are reading p&p I wondered if they‘d find @Crinoline_Laphroaig but I didn‘t want to help them 😂 5d
BarkingMadRead @dabbe 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 5d
dabbe @mcctrish Good thinking! I just let the entire cat out of the bag! 🤩🤦🏼‍♀️🤣 5d
dabbe @BarkingMadRead Now that I've just reread the comments to you and the #hashtagbrigade, I believe by they also thought you wrote THE WOMAN IN WHITE! 🤣🤣🤣 5d

Ruthiella I love how rain causes such illnesses in Regency/Victorian novels (see also Sense & Sensibility). 💧💧🤒 1w
mcctrish OMG the twists and the turns. Pork chop is a master manipulator #oceans11vibes Percy Pig is such a twat! Where the hell did typhus come from? I swear at this point I was thinking did the ‘private nurse‘ bring it? Or were they just one step away from typhus at this point in history despite being upper class and having household staff to clean up the lice, etc…? 1w
BarkingMadRead @mcctrish I was going to google it, but i was afraid to go down the rabbit hole 🤣 I am very suspicious of the whole thing though, like was it ever typhus? Did they pay that young doc to lie? So many questions! 1w
Bookwormjillk This section was bananas. What do we read tomorrow? The rest of Epoch 2? 1w
BarkingMadRead @Bookwormjillk yes! It‘s only like 10 pages, how sweet is that?!? 1w
mcctrish @BarkingMadRead I feel like this entire book is a lesson in gaslighting #idontknowwhichendisup #trustnoone 1w
Bookwormjillk @BarkingMadRead very sweet! @mcctrish yes on the gaslighting. I feel like Pork Chop is playing chess and Percy is playing checkers but they‘re both very effective in their manipulations. 1w
julieclair So much going on here!! I love it! But I‘m very afraid for Laura in London. 😬 1w
Leftcoastzen Didn‘t they mention that #countporkchop knew about poisoning? Some of course kill you , but others can make you sick. Though lady gets wet , gets a chill, gets real sick is common in these novels 1w
dabbe My lord, how women were at the mercy of men in this era. You're simply property, and that's it. Oh, and an apparent ATM for all of your debts. #percypig and #porkchop are beyond evil. So much melodrama! That's what Collins was known for, and he writes it well! What a soap opera this would be! 1w
ElizaMarie Growing up we werw always warned not to go outside with our hair wet (Mexican superstition) — 1w
