My favorite Mother‘s Day gift this year made by my 4 year old at her preschool. 🥰 I hope all the mothers of all walks had a relaxing and loved day. 💛
My favorite Mother‘s Day gift this year made by my 4 year old at her preschool. 🥰 I hope all the mothers of all walks had a relaxing and loved day. 💛
3✨ I always struggle when there is a lot of characters and time jumping. This book had both, and for the most part I think I followed along. The biggest struggle was his current wife and fifth wife had similar names. Plus situations that happened 8 years ago seemed to be happening again. There was a lot going on with all of the characters, but I really enjoyed the ride.
4✨ The war parts of this were not as interesting, but some big truths are revealed, and the cliffhanger at the end makes me glad I got the next book ready to go! #SeriesLove @Andrew65 @TheSpineView
3✨There was a lot of mini stories in here, and a large bird presence as they are the ones helping to deliver the letters. I really liked how Dr Dolittle helps to create a written language for the animals so they can communicate through mail. With that I finished the first Volume! 😍 #DolittleDiscussion
3✨A pirate adventure where we finally get to know who the M person is.
4.5✨This was such a warm and sweet graphic novel. It left me feeling relaxed and inspired. I felt it was too short and could have had more depth. I‘m interested to see what the next book has to offer. @Littlewolf1
The secret history is still in the lead for my worst book of the year.
My best April book knocked out some really good books in the battle for my best book of the year. 🤩
3✨This had an interesting transition from continuing from the first book to the cliffhanger for the next book. It continued to bring up the archer and the Fox consistently along with other concepts that were over used. The story itself became really interesting and I‘m not sure I completely understand the wish that may or may not have been made. The time jumping gets me confused everytime! The ending! Where‘s the next book! 🤣
3✨I really appreciated how different this was from other vampire stories. It was more zombie like which I loved. There was quite a bit of back in forth in the timeline, which I always struggle with. There was one character I absolutely didn‘t like, and others that I just didn‘t remember. Overall, it had a good storyline and characters that matured (for the most part). #HTBookClub
I took the dust jacket off the tagged so you can appreciate the edges and ribbon bookmark. 🥰😍 My April Book Haul! 💛
3✨ I thought this was pretty interesting that Nancy was helping to solve coded messages. She has close encounters with dangerous wild animals, and tear gas. Then her boyfriend‘s mom is trying to convince her to talk to her dad about buying the house next door to them. 🤣 #NancyDrewBR @Librarybelle
3✨ A great early reader chapter book that teaches a bit about ancient Egyptian customs. They even solve a puzzle to help the queen whose eye sight is hindering her from going to the afterlife. Read to my son for bedtimes. #SeriesLove
3✨Still struggling with all the POVs and characters, but a little easier to follow along this time. I‘m not sure I comprehended everything that was going on, but I really like Skedi and Inara. We learn more about her in this book. There is a lot more power seen by some of the characters, and Kissen still really strong and awesome! #HTBookClub #SeriesLove
5✨ Loving the Hunger Games Series so much that my husband had to remind me to eat. I knew I needed to pick this up. I was not disappointed. While we know the outcome of the games if you‘ve read the series it doesn‘t stop the excitement. With obvious dread as we near the end, and then it also has information of after the games that leads up to the hunger game series.
I started reading this with my Bible study group (years ago) and I kept telling myself I would pick it back up. It is a difficult read in which I would have to keep looking up words to even know what I was reading. With my busy life I need to be more realistic and decided to finally bail on picking this back up.
1✨ There is something in me that really wants to like mythology, but I constantly just can‘t seem to be engaged. I enjoyed some of this book, but I wasn‘t able to get my head around all the characters. To the give away pile it goes.
4✨A retelling of Peter Pan and Wendy with a darker twist. We find that Wendy has a suppressed memory of what happened to her and her two brothers that went missing for a while. She returned, but her brothers did not. When more kids turned up missing her memories start to resurface. I really like the mysteries they uncovered even though it ended on a bit of a sad note. Read for #FairyTaleReadingChallenge March
3✨ You know when you pick up a story about the holocaust it will be a hard read. The story follows a young man who can speak several languages on his life in Auschwitz. He does his best to help where he can as his role in this concentration camp helps him survive only slightly better than others doing harder labor in inhumane conditions. Then he meets a girl that could save his heart, and gives him more hope.
4✨ While there was a lot of predictable moments in this book I really appreciated the humor. Working for a villain who has to keep up appearances can be a bit of a learning curve. However, the main character was able to pick up the trade and still keep her own self worth in tact. Really loved the frog character as well. 🐸
My March pick probably won‘t last long. At least I finished it, unlike the others on this list. 😅
As much as I loved Red Rising, The Paris Apartment is still in my mind as an amazing book that really surprised me. This was really hard though because The Women I also loved in March so I made it the Wild Card liking it slightly more than Red Rising.
Yay! I can now listen to more scary, spicy, or graphic books when I‘m close to my kids. 🥰🤭
Here is my nominations for #CampLitsy25 I‘m excited for another year of camp!🏕️🤩
Rare solo visit to my local library while my oldest is at a Girl Scout event. 🥰
3✨ This has to be my least favorite so far. It had gripping action, and continued where the previous book left off. There was nothing wrong with it minus me not being as engaged or invested. Still I am excited to see what happens next with two books left in this series. #SeriesLove
Goodwill haul for my kids Easter gifts (Barbie‘s and other misc toys) under my new table cloth and $2 next read. 🤩
We were able to get a second hand playground that my hubby put up for spring break. It has a shady spot for me to read. 🥰
3✨ This was not my favorite in the series, but I like that this seemed to be a build up book for what will be coming next. There was a lot of shocking moments where my mouth literally dropped! The cliffhanger ending wasn‘t as bad for me and I‘ll look forward to the next story in the maybe distant future.
4.5✨What a great #HometownBC pick! Evangeline is looking for help when the love of her life seems to be enchanted in marrying another. She enlists the help of the fate Jacks, who is the Prince of hearts Yet, not having a beating one of his own she doesn‘t get what she bargains for. This leads her on an adventure with many magical personalities. A bit predictable in a few places, and the cliffhanger ending are my main complaints.
4✨Nancy is on a cruise ship with her best friends. When she ends up with the wrong luggage what resembles her trunk, and a young girl that matches the initials of some men who were signing to each other she knows she‘s into another mystery on what was supposed to be a vacation. I really enjoyed this story to catch up to the #NancyDrewBR @Librarybelle Gandalf snuck into my picture this time #CatsofLitsy
3✨This was the last story in this series I have read. Nancy helps an elderly woman with pedigreed dogs that were stolen, and a mysterious tapping that could be in Morse code. Not a bad mystery, but I remember most of it from when I recently read it. Plus my one year old really seemed to like the pictures. 🥰 #NancyDrewBR @Librarybelle
3✨I was going to unhaul the whole series until this story. Adam is now old enough (sort of) to enlist in the war. Being a kids story it is really mild, but it does go through the hard truth of war. Not everyone makes it, and there is significant growth from not just this book, but to complete the series as a coming of age story. #SeriesLove #DogsofLitsy
2✨ I don‘t think my head was in a space to wrap my mind around everything. I was a bit lost the majority of the time, and while I didn‘t hate it I struggled to concentrate. This will be a re-read so I can appreciate it more.
Well, I‘m behind on the tagged book, but at least I finally caught up reading Les Mis. 😅
When my oldest is at a later ballet class, it‘s dinner in the car and a book. (She eats while I drive 20 minutes to her class) Today she finds out if she gets to be the Harry Potter in the dance. 🤩 🩰
3✨I had to restart it a couple of times, and was struggling with all the characters. I love the boldness of all the characters and I picture Skedi as a familiar like the His Dark Materials series. I can‘t say I was following along well with everything going on, but I enjoyed it in the end.
5✨ Where has this series been! A dystopian in a space world where there are colored social stratum‘s. Darrow lives as a Red who work and mine the earth for civilization to colonize Mars. While the Golds live it up and make sure they are working. When unfortunate events befall his family a new plan is established to overthrow the order of things. I recognized a lot of elements in this book from other dystopians I love in a new and exciting way.
3✨ I really like the storyline of this series, after trying one previously, but it‘s just too spicy for me.
3✨ This was an interesting retelling of the classic Sleeping Beauty story. It displayed the princess awake when the kingdom was asleep, and vise versa. Because of the curse they cannot communicate even with notes on paper. Plus the princess was actually protecting them while they slept. Read for #FairyTaleRetellingChallenge @Charityann
5✨ It took me a while to sit down and really digest all that this book had to offer. We follow a grieving sister as she follows her late brother to the Vietnam war front. As a nurse she sees her fair share of the violence as she tries to encourage and save the men in her care. Making friends, falling in love, and coming home broken are all part of the heart wrenching pages of a book that tears your heart out repeatedly and you keep coming back…
3✨ It is fun watching a character grow through a series, and Anne is a more mature version of herself. Heading off on her own adventure and returning to her home to catch up. Many of her friends are starting to settle down, and Anne is determined not to be one of them. Looking forward to the next store with how this one went. 😊
4✨ This was a really cute idea. Elsy needs to get away from reality. When it‘s time to go on a friend‘s getaway her friends are all busy. She decides to go alone and ends up somewhere else. When she starts meeting the towns people she discovers they are characters in her late favorite authors books! I wasn‘t hooked at first, and was hoping for a different angle for the male lead, but a nice feel good story.
Hands down best book I read in February. 🥰
A Secret history earned this spot without trouble.
3✨ After Pearl Harbor, Adam and his family move to California where his mom and him start working. Adam receives a letter from his friend Davi from Hawaii about his family being taken because they were born in Japan. This book highlights Japanese internment camps that Adam visits at one point. It also shows how Adam is growing and becoming the man he needs to during this timeframe. #SeriesLove
3✨ Going into this book I knew I was going to be uncomfortable. Casey is a behaviorist at a children‘s school, so all the troubled kids come to her. When she meet Kiara and learns her history there are red flags that she is slipping through the system. While there are many kids in this class dealing with more real life than they should, Kiara has a worse case scenario that literally made my jaw drop at one point. Poor kid. #Roll100 February
