This was really good! Informative, heartwarming, and relatable. I was drawn in from the first chapter and enjoyed listening to Allie‘s journey in rediscovering her faith and family. I adored the audiobook narrator as well- Priya Ayyar was engaging and funny throughout.

This was so good! There were a couple plot points I wish had been given more time, but other than that I loved this book. Amina is such a sweet character and her relationships and struggles were all so real. If you enjoy middle grade books, definitely give this one a shot.

It's difficult to express in a few characters why I hated this book so much so here goes: a stupid heroine who we're supposed to believe makes good decisions but actually makes every situation worse. A cookie-cutter supporting cast. Cliched dialogue with overly-long history lectures. The botching of a needed book on a vitally important topic.

This reads at a breakneck pace. Quite like the city it embodies. Right from the title, the cover to the first page and every one that comes after, sucks you in to the vortex of disparity in time, means, gender and the art of chugging along. Soul-crushing moments jostling ones that make you soar. If I had read this in college, I‘d be shook. #Booked2019 #MuslimAuthorOrMC

AppuNthebooks An Existential Crisis seems to be a right of passage. And this particular reading of two youngsters in a city and circumstance that‘s not hard to fathom, make it all the more relatable. That search for purpose, spiking interest in politics, moved enough to feel strongly but unsure you can do something to make a difference. The language is on point, the lead characters feel real. A fantastic read that stirs up old thoughts and notes to self. 5y

I have been getting back into my choice for #MuslimAuthorOrMC for #Booked2019 as my last book for #24B4Monday #readathon Not sure if I‘ll make the 24hr mark, it‘s 8.30pm Sunday here, but I‘m trying! I‘m at just over 20.8hrs & there‘s 3.5hrs to go. Cutting it close I think but maybe🤷🏻‍♀️

Cinfhen I recently re-read this book/ I did the audio and it was just as good as my first read!!!!! I had forgotten some parts so all the horrors and sadness hit me just as hard!!! Excellent storytelling 5y
