I‘m toning down my challenges for ‘21 & scaling back to concentrate on my own already owned books and personal “I want to read” lists... so here‘s my super simple reading #NewYearsResolution for 2021. No Popsugar, no Read Harder, no Around the World or Year, No mountain climbing.... just my books and things I‘ve been meaning to read for awhile and just never get to. I‘ll try to use this tag and let you know how I do. 😉

#21Challenge for 2021.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Part of this for me is also to concentrate on reading groups, instead of challenges. 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Graywacke I decided the only way I could keep it simple was if I made that the challenge for myself. 😂 4y
cozypunk Great approach - 21 for 2021 is an easy way to remember your goal. This year my goal was 40 since I turned 40yo. 4y
See All 24 Comments
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @dandy.punk 40 is a good goal, and I‘ll definitely read more book than 21 through the year.... but I want to prioritize books I‘ve been meaning to read for awhile, which often get pushed to the back burner for the newest looks good book. 4y
Crazeedi @Riveted_Reader_Melissa this is such a good idea. I tried to do challenges, but my tbr has just gotten bigger. I have so many physical books, kindle ones, ARC's that I haven't touched. I think I'll make a goal similar to yours! 4y
Graywacke @Riveted_Reader_Melissa diy challenge 👍 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Crazeedi I‘m glad it‘s not just me! I want to leave room for my group reads on Litsy, but stop looking for odd books for some odd category, while pushing books I bought and wanted to read until later...and never getting to them. I have piles of physical books, kindle books, and audiobooks that I own but are waiting to be read and series I really want to read, but haven‘t made the time for. So 2021, is a me year! 😉 4y
BookwormAHN I have a similar plan. No 175 books for Goodreads and every challenge that I come across. I want to concentrate on books that I really want to read not just those that fit a prompt. December has felt like book burnout month. 4y
cozypunk I need a catchphrase, hashtag, or mnemonic that's easy to remember! Something to remind myself with before just scrolling away on social media. 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BookwormAHN I understand that... I want time for my reading groups here on Litsy and time for my personal to read piles. More fun, more community, less stress. I finished my challenges this month and thought, now I have time to finish this series, or read this new release I bought back in May....and then I thought, why have I been waiting? Putting them off for challenge books....That‘s silly 🤷‍♀️ 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @dandy.punk More fun, less Stress! Read for me! Something like that? (edited) 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @dandy.punk I‘m liking #ReadForMe as a hashtag. What do you think? 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BookwormAHN I think 2020 has just been a stressful year, so maybe downsizing the commitments is just a self care choice for 2021? 4y
Crazeedi @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I agree one hundred percent! You and me are on the same wavelength, it's my goal to just reduce the already owned stacks!! Yay for us!!! 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Crazeedi Yes, 2021 needs to be a #ReadForMe self-care year 4y
bnp This makes a lot of sense. 4y
cozypunk #readforme sounds brillant! 4y
twohectobooks This is very much my speed! I have twelve books on my physical TBR that I plan to read in 2021 and other than that I‘m going to read whatever I want! 4y
Suet624 Great idea.
4y
Exbrarian This is fantastic. Similar to my plans. Primarily, read stuff I already own. 4y
BookwormAHN Definitely, love the hashtag #ReadForMe 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BookwormAHN I added it to the picture now. 🤣 (edited) 4y
CarolynM Great plan. Good luck🍀 4y
Tamra Love it! 👍🏾 4y

Time for the bookish discussion question of the day 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻! Here it is: Do you regularly read aloud to anyone? #BookTalk

TheBookHippie Every single day M-F several students and classrooms. Saturday and Sunday family. ❤️ 5y
jb72 No I don‘t, but it would be fun to have someone who enjoyed a bit of that. 5y
Bookwormjillk My daughter reads to me now 5y
See All 26 Comments
Jaimelire Yes, I teach 4 & 5 year olds...so every day. 5y
ShelleyBooksie Yes, my 8 year old. 5y
Reagan Not as regularly as I would like, but I still like reading to my 8 year old. We are nearing the end of the first Percy Jackson and it has been a long journey. 5y
wordslinger42 I read to my nieces and nephews, but I will also just read the books that I'm personally reading aloud. It makes the book come alive and also helps me focus on the story when my thoughts are wandering! 5y
Victoria_Clyne Yes, my two kids almost everyday. They are four and two, we started reading to our eldest at six months and the youngest from birth because she was with us at book time. I hope they let me read to/with them for years to come. 5y
BookNotes My grandkids. 🥰 5y
Geenie Myself 5y
Cuilin In my classroom, Monday to Friday. 5y
Palimpsest I read out loud to my four-year-old son every night before bed. 5y
JackOBotts My kiddos! 5y
Johanna414 I read out loud to 2 different groups of 6th grade students - each comes to the library for their lunch period 2x a week and I read a book to them while they eat. Also to my own kids before bed or whenever they bring me a book and demand I read it... (toddlers, amiright?!) 5y
amber_ldsmom I read aloud to my family almost every night (kids ages 5 to 17 and my husband). Generally, we read some kind of middle grade book or something educational. 5y
Eggs Yes my little guy (grandson) who is a month shy of 3 yo. He is a bibliophile ♥️📚♥️ 5y
TheSpineView I wish I could say yes. Alas, my grandkids don't live here and my hubby would think I was a little cuckoo if I tried to read to him. 5y
Butterfinger My 8 year old. 5y
Slajaunie No but I need to do it more in my classroom. 5y
TheQuietQuill Oh for sure, my one year old son. When he was a newborn I read him Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. I was also a teacher before becoming a stay at home mom and read multiple times a day to the children. I love sharing my passion with others 🥰 5y
mcctrish I do at school but my brother in law just told me that poetry should always be read aloud 🤷🏻‍♀️so I am going to try and read a poem aloud every day #newyearsresolution 5y
swynn My dog. Some books demand to be read aloud, and he's the only one in the house who'll sit still for it. 5y
maich Every evening a bedtime stories to my little princess.💕 5y
SaunteringVaguelyDownwards My husband and I discovered that when he can't sleep, me reading him The Phantom Tollbooth out loud puts him right out! 5y
dragondrool Only to the kids at school. I am told that I am exceptionally good at it. 5y

It was my birthday yesterday and my husband stocked my YA, Fantasy, and comic bookshelf with some new beauties!!!!

I‘ve had a goal this year to read a book a week, and so far I‘ve been achieving that! What is your 2020 book goal?

#bookaweekchallenge #yabookclub #ya #fantasy #comic #thebookwasbetter #2020 #bookgoal #newyearsresolution

GondorGirl Ooo- good choices! I've read most of the books in your stack... we must have similar tastes! 5y
persephanie_and_samson @GondorGirl oh that‘s awesome! Which one from the stack is your favorite? I need to catch up on so many series so I don‘t know which one to start with 5y
TheLibrarian Happy Birthday! That‘s a great stack! 5y

GondorGirl @persephanie_and_samson I think 'Six of Crows' is my favorite of the bunch. The character building was really great in that! 5y

My New Years resolution is to knock out my TBR list before I go in search of any new books. Staring with this stack! Wish me luck. I am going to need it!

JanePratt @BarbaraTheBibliophage I was so confused at first thinking Ashley was a girl and did not understand how this was so popular so long ago. Then I realized he was a boy and it made a lot more sense 😂 so far I'm loving it! 6y
