Oh, this just might be my favorite of hers yet! I really enjoyed this fake dating romantic comedy! I laughed, I cried a little & couldn‘t tear my eyes off the pages— a total #OneSittingRead for me! The Michigan summer backdrop added to the fun & I just loved the premise of Daphne fake-dating her ex-fiancé‘s fiancée‘s ex-boyfriend! It does make for a funny story, indeed! It was my first purchase to celebrate last year‘s Indie Bookstore Day, too!

Excuse the #PuppyBomb on my February #BookOfTheMonth pick! I had so much fun with this #OneSittingRead! It makes for a great Valentine‘s romance! Eve‘s story of a one-night stand that ends up turning her life upside down when she realizes weeks later that she‘s pregnant. Characters that feel real and a satisfyingly romantic storyline, and genuine emotion, I literally couldn‘t put this one down! Excited to read more from Bastone in the future!

Soubhiville I love the puppy bomb, and the book backdrop is fun. 🙂 13mo
TorieStorieS @Soubhiville Thanks! The coffee table is exactly head-level now and Owen is always curious about decor changes! The runner is from World Market 🥰 13mo

Wowza!!! This creepy Christmas tale hooked me from the start & never let go! A #OneSittingRead for sure! Alison & her mother have a complicated relationship— between her artist mother‘s drinking, mood swings & abuse, it‘s a wonder she speaks to her at all. When her mother‘s assistant calls with Mavis‘ health, Alison reluctantly agrees to have her mother move in with her family. Tensions escalate between mothers & daughters in this gripping read!

Bookzombie I love the little mouse using spools of thread to make a tree! 1y
TorieStorieS @Bookzombie Thank you!! My aunt gave me that ornament and it is one of my favorites!! Plus, in the book, they call Olivia “little mouse” so I had to include it! 😊 1y

My #BookClub discusses this one on Thursday and I can‘t wait! This superbly written family drama set in the 1950s-1960s MA was another unexpected #OneSittingRead for me! Highlighting the healing power of found family, I didn‘t want the story of the Moscatellis and their foster children to end! Multiple perspectives spanning years and characters that leap from the pages displays Francis‘ stellar talents! I loved this one! Keep the tissues handy!

The story continues from Wake. Same cast of characters, with a few more teachers mixed in. The school drama continues, but there is definitely ⚠️ for predatory behavior (vague to not give the plot away). I am thankful I had a couple of hours, because I literally read it that fast. Sucks you in, and you just hold on! #recentlyread #nospoilers #dreams #onesittingread #imagination #school #drama 😳

LibrarianRyan I love this series. 3y

Helen, this was lovely! @squirrelbrain Kept me occupied while waiting for my mammogram! 🤦‍♀️Thank you for putting it in my hands…. So perfect for me! A humorous romantic little essay, on the joys of picking books you never knew you needed or wanted…. i.e. the total joy of browsing a bookstore. 💕📚

A slim but thoughtful read. Very evocative with powerful prose. A simple man feels called to action on Christmas Eve. Using for #Pop22 #OneSittingRead would also work for #FavoriteSeason if you prefer #Winter Thanks to @TrishB and @Kdgordon88 for putting this on my #ReadersRadar - it was also on Erik Karl Anderson‘s #BestOf2021 #Scribd 🎧

Megabooks 👍🏻👍🏻 3y
TrishB I don‘t think I‘d call it my best read 🤷‍♀️ but I like more meaty books. Like at least a couple of hundred pages!! 3y

Cinfhen It‘s a 3 star read for now but I might bump it up @TrishB @Megabooks I prefer these shorter but powerful reads as opposed to long drawn out meatier tomes 3y
TrishB That‘s why there‘s books for all us I guess ❤️ 3y
Cortg I like the big, meaty chunksters but enjoy shorter books in between! Nice job with the challenges! 3y
Cinfhen I‘m starting to really appreciate these slim but succinct books @Cortg they manage to pack a punch in a short amount of space 3y
Cathythoughts I‘m looking forward to this one 3y
Cinfhen I think you‘ll appreciate this little gem @Cathythoughts it‘s a really quick read but it leaves a long impression 3y

Joan lives a life of self imposed loneliness. Her workplace,as an ICU doctor is her safe place. When a new neighbor moves in & her mother comes for a visit her life is thrown off kilter.
This book was light but insightful. Unfortunately, it left me underwhelmed but I did appreciate the inclusion of the early days of Covid, not as a gimmick but as a source of authenticity.

Cinfhen I noticed this was on your #Top21of21 list @DrexEdit and that encouraged me to push it up my TBR. THANKS for posting and sharing 😊 3y

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!!! 3y
DrexEdit I totally agree with what you say about including the early days of the pandemic. It did feel pretty organic here and not overly gimmicky. Glad you liked it, even as a light read! 3y
Cinfhen I‘ve read about 6 or 7 books now that have included the pandemic in some form @DrexEdit and this one felt must organic. Do you think this will become the norm for contemporary fiction !?!! 3y
Chelsea.Poole I‘ve noticed recently when reading contemporary fiction that DOESNT even mention the pandemic I‘m taken out of the story like wait a minute— this isn‘t real life, where‘s the COVID stuff!?! It‘s apparently pretty deeply rooted for me at this point 😑 3y
Cinfhen Yeah, I get that @Chelsea.Poole I don‘t mind Covid being referenced but I don‘t want it being played out. Does that make sense??? 3y
Chelsea.Poole Yes, definitely makes sense. I want to escape it too, and do not need a play-by-play either 😊 3y
