Great Australian crime fiction. Not a genre I often read these days, but this was an enjoyable summer holiday #palatecleanser. I am back at work next week.

thegirlwiththelibrarybag Summer holidays go past too quickly! 2mo
MrsMalaprop @thegirlwiththelibrarybag yes 🙁. Although I‘m telling myself I‘m ready to return to work 😁. 2mo
MrsMalaprop @thegirlwiththelibrarybag 😂 Yeah, I think it is. I‘ve just had 5 weeks off after all, and I do like my job. And I LOVE that I work part-time. (edited) 2mo

Another #AudioSorbet / #PalateCleanser

Dennis meets his soulmate in a dark alley while she's trying to rescue a kitten from a dumpster.
Ana needs a rebound, but Dennis turns out to be Mr Right. Shame she feels she needs to ghost him when she finds out she's pregnant only three days after their perfect night.

Bonus: a sugar glider named Magic

Book 4 in the series. The day called for it.

TheSpineView Well done! 5mo
Andrew65 Excellent 👏👏👏 5mo
SarahDWriter Most intense romances end up in a pregnancy. I'm so happy I'm trying to walk a path of faith, which has me looking away from the guys, and waiting for The One. Umm, it keeps the Joy where its supposed to be. 5mo

A palate cleanser #RomCom.

Third book in the series. Very slow burn romance, the two MCs knew each other from childhood, but it took them 19 years and a nearly fatal accident to finally find each other. But still it's not easy for the two of them to be together. There's a curse on each of them. There's a teenager who doesn't want another step-parent. There are younger brothers with an opinion. 🙄

julesG Do we have the #PalateCleanser already? Or #AudioSorbet? We should use them. Would make finding a "palate cleanser" easier. 5mo
TheSpineView Sounds good! ❤️📖 5mo
bthegood @julesG love the term “audio sorbet“ 🙂 5mo

I enjoyed this #palatecleanser. This book was one of the first I ever stacked when I joined Litsy. I got hold of a secondhand copy and it‘s been waiting patiently for the mood to take me.
It‘s been cold & windy here in Perth, Western Australia (although nothing like Alaska of course ❄️😆) and so it seemed a good time to get into it.

TheBookHippie It‘s 52 windy cloudy here 🙃 summer in Michigan 🤷🏻‍♀️ 9mo
MrsMalaprop @TheBookHippie That‘s colder than our current winter temps!🥶 We‘ve had a lot of rain too. 9mo

This took me right out of my reading comfort zone. I don‘t generally do mystery & this one felt like it was set in the 1940‘s, although it was first published in 1987 🤔. I read it because the lovely @CarolynM bought it for me 💕.
I enjoyed some of the ribald, irreverent humour and a female protagonist living life on her terms. A #palatecleanser & something totally different, but I don‘t think I‘ll rushing out to read another any time soon.

mrsmarch Have you read the same author‘s Amelia Peabody/Egyptology mysteries? Some common attributes but much, much better 14mo
MrsMalaprop @mrsmarch thanks for the tip 🙏 14mo
CarolynM Sounds like it gave you a laugh, anyway😆 I love Amelia too, but I only swoon over John🥰 14mo

I agree with the Author's Note - this book "is a pop song. It's light and catchy."

It's exactly the kind of sci-fi #PalateCleanser I needed. I enjoyed the pop-culture reference and probably had as much fun reading it as Scalzi writing it.

Just what @Cinfhen said, a light read and still makes you think.

If you need a #PalateCleanser that's not a romance or cozy mystery, give this one a try.

CarolynM I‘m intrigued! 2y

Tagged the Victorian Era series, because Litsy doesn't know about the Edwardian series yet.

Andrew65 Sounds a good read. 2y

I find Celeste Barber‘s Insta spoofs of celebrity posts absolutely hilarious and I get the sense that she is a pretty cool human too. I put off reading this memoir for fear I‘d be disappointed. Turns out I needn‘t have. I really enjoyed this #palatecleanser and think I might love her even more now. 😍❤️👏🙏

TrishB I follow her on fb, she always makes me smile. One of those people I think would be a great friend! 3y

March was for two books. Keeper n Me by Richard Wagamese and Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Both books were a revelation but have left me drained. I need to indulge in a Regency romance and Georgette Heyer is my go-to author. #currentlyreading #palatecleanser

wordslinger42 I listened to the audiobook of Venetia read by Richard Armitage and really enjoyed it! 3y
batsy I enjoyed this a lot 💕 Hope it does the trick for you! 3y
BiblioLitten @wordslinger42 I wish I could get the audiobook. I‘m really enjoying it. 3y
BiblioLitten @batsy I just started it but I‘m already loving the MC. 💕 3y
wordslinger42 @BiblioLitten I did a 30-day free trial of Audible so I could listen to it 😊 3y
