An extremely well done horror novel about a daughters return to her childhood home to care for her elderly sick mother. The audiobook was so vividly narrated I had to pause and take long deep breaths to get my heart to stop pounding out of my chest several times.

I love autumn and I really like Halloween, especially I like gothic books, with supernatural, vampires, witches and ghosts.

Just curious, what is everyone‘s favorite #stephenking book? I‘ve read more Stephen king than any other author. He is my moms favorite writer so I remember seeing her curled up on the couch, lost in a king book day after day and it made me want to read. Now I do the same thing with his books. My favorite is The Stand due to its in depth story with twists of emotion sprinkled all through it. #spookystories #horror #horrorbooks #thestand #scarybook

TrishB The Stand is my fave too. Honourable mentions for Needful Things, ‘Salem‘s Lot, Dr Sleep, the Bill Hodges trilogy. I‘m a massive fan 😁 4y
JakeRuble @TrishB Salem‘s Lot may be my runner up! I LOVED that book. I also really enjoyed the Bill Hodges trilogy, much to my surprise as it was different than any other books of his I had read up until that time. I‘ve still not read The Shining or Dr Sleep! 4y
TrishB You do have to read The Shining before Dr Sleep, but I much preferred Dr Sleep. 4y

⭐️⭐️⭐️ I, erm, don‘t really read #zombiebooks. So take the fact that I read this whole thing and actually somewhat enjoyed it with a grain of salt. Lots of gore, gross, and hella action-packed and don‘t even get me started on the witty one-liners that were fun until there were just too many. But it wasn‘t really a #scarybook, which is surprising since, you know, #zombie apocalypse. But I never had the urge to put it down.

My grandma had the non-fiction book on S.C. serial killer, Pee Wee Gaskins. I wasn‘t allowed to read it but of course I was sneaky and did it anyway. It is the scariest and most disturbing thing I have ever read-very graphic. It hasn‘t all been confirmed by police but either way it is very unsettling. I have been and know the places he hunted, abducted and killed making it even more scary for me.

Mimi28 Yikes!! I‘m soo scared to read true crime and stuff like that. You‘re brave and that IS creepy that you know the places he was. I have a ton of triggers though so living in Chicago is the reason I watch cartoons alllll day, lol. I have a new favorite- My Little Pony, lol 5y
marleed Oh my gosh. I did the same thing when I was about 12. I pulled my first all nighter and snuck my dad‘s copy of the Exorcist to my room. It scared the bee jeebers out of me and had to act like I wasn‘t bothered at all! 5y

KT1432 I‘m addicted to true crime, but it can be very disturbing, especially when you read about something that hits so close to home! 5y

JoScho @Mimi28 yes cartoons are much better! 5y
JoScho @marleed lol yes! I hid the book and of course had nightmares. 5y
JoScho @lele1432 so true. This one is extremely graphic. 5y

#FALLISBOOKED - Day Twenty-Six - #SCARYBOOK

OriginalCyn620 I bet this is scary! Never read it or seen the movie...don‘t think I can! 😱 5y
veritysalter @OriginalCyn620 I saw the film first, about twenty years ago when it was finally allowed on VHS in the UK, by which time the effects were old fashioned and it had lost its shock value. I read the book earlier this year after listen to the podcast ‘Inside The Exorcist‘ by Wondery. It‘s gripping, with a clear message not to meddle with the unknown. 5y

A coworker once told me that she had to pull over while listening to this while driving just to collect herself. She said it was the scariest book she'd ever read. I immediately ordered it from #thriftbooks, but it has been sitting on my bookshelf for several months. I think today is a good day to finally get started. #horror #creepy #scarybook 😱

I stayed up waaaaay past my bedtime last night to finish this. Once I got to the halfway mark I could not put it down!

Scary and gory and gripping, this thriller will make you really glad to be warm indoors. 🥶

KristenDuck Sounds like a good one! 6y
readtheworld @KristenDuck It is! Though it was definitely past my level of comfort for gore and scariness (I‘m a bit of a wimp!) 6y

ShereeCook Waiting for this to arrive in the mail. So excited to get stuck into it 6y
RadicalReader @readtheworld absolutely awesome to have books so gripping you can‘t put down especially when you want to stop at the end of the chapter but then you‘re hooked because of the plot or the sentence of the chapter. 6y
readtheworld @RadicalReader Yes, exactly! This book‘s pages basically turned themselves. 6y
