Part 1 of my stats:
I‘m so proud of hitting these reading goals!!
Definitely the #YearOfMemoirs. I‘m kind of tired of them now! But I did manage to fit in lots of other genres too.

I have so enjoyed seeing everyone‘s #Top21of21 lists, but it took me ALL DAY to pick these out of the 506 books I‘ve read (so far) this year! The top left corner are my three tip top picks, but these are all books I loved and/or made me think in 2021. No rereads from prior years are included.

I think the #YearOfMemoirs is over. Tbh, after 127 in a single year, I‘m pretty tired of the genre.
October is the first month that something other than memoirs was number one, 8 literary fiction versus 6 memoirs! Plus it‘s the first month this year that I read more fiction than nonfiction. I‘m hoping to keep the F/NF trend going!
Note all the fiction! I think the #YearOfMemoirs is almost over. For everything there is a season (year), I guess. I‘m looking forward to more #audiobook fiction. 👍🏻
Chainsaw came as an incentive for restarting my Libro.fm membership, and I feel I should do one seasonal read.
Bourdain has been amazing! Finishing up and gathering thoughts for a review tomorrow. Such a complicated life.
Have a great Sunday y‘all! #WeeklyForecast
I have a #MemoirHangover from this beautiful #audiobook. 5⭐️ and one of the best during this #YearOfMemoirs!
Tarana shares her journey from victim to advocate and why she started #MeToo. She has amazing courage. She gave Black girls a way to share their pain long before Alyssa Milano posted to Twitter. I‘m glad so many people have benefited from her work, and I feel privileged to be able to read her story. Thank you, Tarana!
This book was more terrible than beautiful to this unmarried reader.
Jen‘s husband is definitely a bad guy and probably a sociopath and caused me to ask my dad how cynical I am about relationships because none of Jen‘s husband‘s moves surprised me. Perhaps I do think the worst. 🤔 (Note: he said I‘m somewhat cynical.)
Overall, not a compelling or enthralling memoir but not the worst either. 😑

I did for the #BookmojiSocks! I picked the memoir because #YearOfMemoirs, but I hate that my box won‘t ship until the 3rd!! 👎🏻👎🏻 I was hoping to get the Rooney add-on early. ☹️ #botm
This is a lot to process. Eleanor and Aaron have been together since she was 17. This book is the story of their 25+ year marriage and Aaron‘s illness. Aaron has substance abuse issues, but somewhere along the way, he also developed a confounding skin condition/mental illness that has had doctor‘s flummoxed or put him on the crazy list. A lot of this is her story of trying to get him help while protect their children from his wild mood swings ⬇️
If it weren‘t for the sexual assault, this would read like a regular boarding school memoir. In fact, a quite bit of it reads typically of that. However, per the title, the heinousness is in the coverup, by the school and later by private and state attorneys. Not to discount her experience of the assault, but what makes her story unique is the systemic suppression of victims over time and the tampering with private medical records. #audiobook
I‘m a sucker for a good physician memoir, and this hit the spot of what I was in the mood for this afternoon! Matt didn‘t quite feel prepared for the realities of life as an intern on the first day of his internal medicine residency, but with curiosity, determination, and heart, he found his rhythm as a doctor. If you enjoyed This Is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay, give Matt‘s memoir a shot. 💉🩺
