BarkingMadRead @BookwormAHN I deleted your comment by mistake! And I totally agree. This one was setting up for the whole series, but it‘s definitely geared towards younger guys 1w
Julies_Bookshelf_Adventures This series is my favorite of Stephen Kings, especially with all the references to his other works found throughout. This book does a pretty good job with introducing the new world and concepts, though I like the air of mystery and that the reader doesn‘t get a huge amount of information about the history of the world and characters (edited) 1w

BarkingMadRead @Julies_Bookshelf_Adventures Yessss I love all of the Easter eggs throughout the series! 1w
Bookwormjillk I‘m almost done. Somehow I had forgotten that most of the characters aren‘t there yet. It really is amazing how much he set up in this book though. He just kind of drops you in the middle of it and somehow it all works. 1w
Karkar I think this one is much better when you are rereading it versus the first time. So much more falls into place and it is not as boring to me as the first time around. 1w
kwmg40 I'd read the first two books several years ago and I remember liking the second one much better. I decided to reread this one (and will the second one when we get to it) before continuing the series. The book sets up the world well but plot-wise, it doesn't stand so well on its own. 1w

Bookwormjillk One of my earliest memories is asking my Dad what he was reading and him teaching me what rabies was....

I thought this was okay, but it dragged a bit. I'm pretty sure I've read it before, but didn't remember much.

BarkingMadRead @Bookwormjillk this one always gets me because it‘s something that could totally happen 1mo

BookwormAHN I remember reading this in 4th grade and the first few pages terrified me but I also remember me and my mother getting in an argument on how to spell damn and me showing it to her in the book 😸 1mo
BookwormAHN I also agree that this is the most realistic of his terrors and all dogs should be vaccinated for rabies. 1mo
BookwormAHN Also the monster/man in the closet is the same as the serial killer in The Dead Zone. 1mo
BarkingMadRead @BookwormAHN yesssss I love a good Easter egg! 1mo
5feet.of.fury @BookwormAHN lol for the vocal lesson 😂 and I agree, Cujo didn‘t want to be a bad dog. The whole thing is so upsetting. 1mo
KathyWheeler I ended up feeling bad for Cujo as well as for the people in this novel. It does drag a little bit though. 1mo
AllDebooks This one hit me hardest. I thought the pace was goid and added to the tension. My heart broke for Cujo. I was incensed at Tad's parents for not being more supportive. Both of them had the heebie jeebies around the cupboard and noticed the awful smell. There is no rational explanation, but I would not be putting my child in that room. 1mo

Bookwormjillk Ohhhh so excited for this one. One of my favorites. 2mo
BarkingMadRead @Bookwormjillk me too! I love this series! I think the only ones I like more are the Holly books! 2mo

PaperbackPirate I just got the graphic novel version of The Gunslinger so I might join in with that. I‘ve already read The Gunslinger and am looking forward to a reread now that I know how the series ends. 2mo

ElizaMarie I didn't get to read this one - also one I had never read, so Its on my TBR to seek it out, but I am interested in reading other's responses to it. 2mo
BarkingMadRead It was not my fave, the characters weren‘t his usual, but the idea was good 2mo

BookwormAHN Also not my favorite. Dawes was frustrating 🤦🏼‍♀️ 2mo
Roary47 I need to get my hands of these stories eventually. 😬😅 2mo
KathyWheeler I read these all years ago when that collection first came out. I didn‘t remember Roadwork at all. It‘s not my favorite at all. 2mo
BarkingMadRead @KathyWheeler I know I‘ve read it before but I don‘t remember it. It made zero impression on me 🤣 2mo
KathyWheeler @BarkingMadRead Apparently it made none one either! The only one I remember well from that collection is Rage. 2mo
PaperbackPirate I thought it was a good story despite it being so dark. The main character frustrated me but at the same time I understand why he was so upset. 2mo

5feet.of.fury Ugh I have this one so I want to read it but idk if I‘m mentally prepared 😩 3mo
BarkingMadRead @5feet.of.fury I feel that in my soul. This one is hard 3mo
Roary47 I‘m excited, but after @5feet.of.fury and @BarkingMadRead comments maybe I should prepare myself too. (Oblivious) 🤔 3mo
BarkingMadRead @Roary47 it‘s so so good, but as one of his books that could technically happen, it makes it a little rough. There‘s no sci fi in this one 3mo
tpixie Poor Cujo… 🐺 3mo
ElizaMarie I revisited this pme via Audio recently. I could use a relisten or a reread (I got the physical copy too) it just is so gut wretching! 3mo
KathyWheeler I haven‘t reread this in decades. It‘ll be interesting to reread it. 3mo
bekakins I first read this when I was about 12… then reread a few years back and couldn‘t believe how devastating it is 😩 2mo

Bookwormjillk I loved this one as a teen. I used to sit with my friend Amy trying to set things on fire with our minds for hours. It was the super power I most wanted to have when I was about 13. I still liked it on this re-read, but I thought the middle dragged a bit. Not a bad ending for King.

Also I think the first season of Stranger Things owes this book a lot!
3mo
AllDebooks @Bookwormjillk yes, I found it a similar premise to ST. I loved the story and characters. I found it quite gripping in places. 3mo

5feet.of.fury @Bookwormjillk yes! I thought it ended solidly, which he sometimes just doesn‘t do lol Agree about Stranger Things too. 3mo
5feet.of.fury It‘s kind of smack between Carrie and The Institute both plotwise and character/scifi focussed. This was my first read of it, I just think it‘s neat 3mo
ElizaMarie Wasn't able to re-read this one - I really need to organize my reading room - I know I had a copy of it somewhere! Anyway, I remember loving this one when I first read it, and as a fellow #KingGirlie I did the same @BookwormJillK 3mo
bekakins Totally agree with the comments ref ST. This is one of my absolute favourites. 3mo
kwmg40 Still waiting for a library loan, but I will get to this one eventually! 3mo
TieDyeDude @5feet.of.fury I found I liked this more than Carrie. I don't remember The Institute enough to compare. But, yes, it was just really neat. As much as I love when he takes the time to build a town and it's inhabitants, with this and The Shining, I'm liking his more narrowly focused stories. 3mo
5feet.of.fury @TieDyeDude the Institute was pretty much Stranger Things and you got the backstory on the whole town 😂 3mo
BarkingMadRead @TieDyeDude 💯 they both have their pros and cons. This is one of my faves for sure 3mo
