Took a break from paper sorting to tackle my bookshelves this afternoon.... 50+ books going to friends or local charity shops....some are from #mountTBR feels good to move on books I no longer feel like reading 😁😁
New treats to read after giving up my last read for now... Bribing myself with these two highly anticipated books because I need to do loads of admin and 3 tax returns this weekend 😬😬
Which of them to start first tonight 🤔🤔🤔
Feeling better after yukky flu and missed being on Litsy..... I'm putting this in #hibernation for now. I've been enjoyed what I've read but I'm still struggling to pick it up... Such a weird way to be with a book 😬😬
This is my second time stalling at the 100 page mark at the same time of year.... I will return to it in the summer and see if that makes a difference 👍👍
Hello lovely Littens. I have full on 'flu with an eye infection thrown in yuk. So I may lurk and like but not really up to reading at the moment. I'll be quieter again for a time. Back soon 😘😘
My #weeklyforecast is just this.... Must have had it on last three or four forecasts lol.
Going to finally see the new Star Wars film today with the kiddos though I have an absolutely banging headache with a head cold and just want to hide.... Fingers crossed the lemsip and ibuprofen sort me out so I can be Fun Mum 😱😱
Billed as a short story collection though I'd call some of these fragments and curios from some of his worlds. Endlessly inventive and teeming with curious alternate realities, Nix himself has said he uses shorter pieces to explore all the ideas he'd never have time to write novels for. Not a place to start of you've never read him but a great addition for fans.
Mobile pop up notification of another #99ponkindle sale is my kryptonite... Tagged book cost more but 'F*ck It' seems to be my world view on most things right now (I want to check out this Anti Diet Culture book before recommending it potentially to a good friend) 😉🌍🤔
Just a little bit of progress for my #bookreport this week but I've promised myself I'll check in every week.
I'll finish tagged book today and Forever is taking me, well, forever. No fault of the book just lack of opportunity to read.
Almost back to normal... Just the Christmas tree to come down so hoping for more reading time going forward 👍⌚🎄
Modest stats for me but I had a reading slump for the first 6 months of the year and hardly read anything.
I'm going to make 2020 #theyearofthechunkster and also aiming to make a decent dent in #mounttbr
What are your main bookish aims this year?
Forgot to post my final total for #24B42020 last night!
Didn't get near 24 hours as had a houseful of last minute guests... People and extra dogs everywhere. It was fun and still got some hours in.
Here's to loads more reading in 2020👍📖
'Lang may yer lums reek! Wi 'ither folks coal!
May the best ye hae ivver seen be the warst ye'll ivver see.
May the moose ne'er lea' yer girnal wi a tear-drap in its ee.
May ye aye keep hail an hertie till ye'r auld eneuch tae dee.
May ye aye juist be sae happie as A wuss ye aye tae be.'
Happy Auld Years Day (New Years Eve to my non Scottish speaking friends 😝)
All the very best to you all for 2020.
Finished two this week, both just so so for me. Enjoying the two still in progress much more but I feel that I need a bigger block of quiet, interruption - free reading time to really enjoy the rest of Forever....sadly that's a rare commodity in this house during this holiday lol
I really wanted and expected to love this. It has some wonderful turns of phrase and off beat observations but somehow it was underwhelming and left me cold. Disappointed 😢
This month's Readathon spans over 5 days.... Got three dogs staying with me and various peoples cats to visit but I'm hoping to get beyond 24 hours to finish up some stuff this year 😁😁🎉🎉
@TheReadingMermaid @Andrew65 @jb72
Thanks soooo much @TrishB I love my pressies.... Had this on my TBR and the bookmarks are fab.. ❤️❤️❤️ The doggy one... And I always have a Christmas breakfast of chocolates so I have my own personal box to hide away with now 😁😁😁👍👊
Worst #bookreport ever 👍
Picture shows number of pages I've managed to read this week. Back pain and watching the lead up and immediate aftermath of the the UK General Election did for me.
There's always next week @cinfhen
A modest #weeklyforecast this week. Planning to finish Prisoner of Azkaban and get a good chunk of Forever read.... I started Forever last Christmas Eve but went into a huge reading slump and abandoned all my fiction reads for months.
May add an audio book if my back strain lets up enough to let me get on the cross trainer! 😁
#bookreport it's been a busy week.... Read the wonderful Station Eleven and almost finished a re read of The Chamber of Secrets.... Haven't started Goblet of Fire yet. Still got tons of Christmas prep to do so not going to set my expectations too high for the next two weeks 🎄🎁🎅🙃
I don't know if this is common as I've only owned the one edition of this book from the early 2000s - but this is reproduced in the back and it is just the best 😁❤️❤️
Best read of 2019 (so far!) and an absolutely beautiful literary novel. Atmospheric, perfectly paced and nuanced. Heartbreaking and hopeful. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
On the last few pages..... Sweet, written to tug the heartstrings 😭😭😭😭😭 My Rosie dog isn't bothered 🐶❤️
#gratefulreads my favourite read in November was my only audio book of the month. Loads of great reads to choose from this month too ❤️
Thanks to hosts for this photo challenge @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620 😘😘
2. Hmmmm the power to heal others
4. Long early morning dogwalk, prep business invoices, get my boys haircuts, attack laundry pile (possibly without a blowtorch 😅), general housework cos I want a lazy Sunday!
5. I'm spreading it bye bye 💋💋
#gratefulreads all my shelves are super messy just now and will be getting an overhaul and serious re-sort during Christmas break.... But they leave no doubt about my #preferredformat....Although I find Kindle super useful and love a #99ponkindle bargain, for sheer book bliss it's physical book, ideally paperback, all the way 📖❤️
#gratefulreads I must take this #memoir down from the shelves soon... Sir David was a constant TV presence in our house while I was growing up.... Groundbreaking programmes at the time, many memorable moments
Knew he was Commissioner but didn't realise he commissioned Monty Python.
#bookreport for this week @cinfhen
Enjoyed all my reads this week. As of tonight I've finished
❤️ Girls Think of Everything
❤️ The Broken Girls
❤️❤️ The Immortalists 💔
❤️❤️ Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
❤️❤️ James Herriot's Cat Stories 🐈🐈
Still to begin Station Eleven and will start tonight
#midnightparty I'm going to be one of the last to leave the party 😉 I must admit the teensy font in my print copy has got the better of me when coupled with the dark winter nights.... Must buy a good shaded reading lamp one of these days. I've been finishing off the Immortalists as the font is larger. Hopefully finish Midnight tomorrow in daylight 👍😁👍 @Cinfhen
#gratefulreads today asks for a #favoriteauthor I hope you didn't seriously expect just one @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620 😂😂😘
Here's a few.... Kate Atkinson, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman and Iain (M) Banks. Got a bit sad making this collage as Pratchett and Banks both died far too young 😢
#gratefulreads here's a classic I haven't read yet even though I've owned a copy for years.... Think it is because it isn't a nice quality paperback so may investigate the audio with an audible credit 👍
