Stephen King‘s “Cujo.” 🐶 Such a sweet face. I always felt bad for this pupster. It wasn‘t his fault he got rabies 😖

BookwormAHN I didn't really like this one. The whole thing seemed like an ad for the rabies vaccine. 10mo
HufflepuffGirl90 I thought it was a good book. I‘m a vet tech and liked the perspective on how rabies can affect everyone surrounding Cujo‘s family and how easily it can be spread. It is basically an ad for rabies, as @BookwormAHN said, but being in the veterinary community I thought that was a good thing, showing why you should vaccinate 🤷🏻‍♀️ 10mo
Karkar Can someone please explain how the thing in the closet is important, I really feel like that could have been left out 10mo
HufflepuffGirl90 @Karkar I think the monster in the closet is supposed to be the ghost of Frank Dodd, who was the serial killer mentioned at the beginning. The idea, to me, was a parallel between people not realising Dodd was a killer and Cujo starting as such a good dog. Maybe even a play on reincarnation of sorts to explain the horror of what happened, since he added in “The monster never dies. It came to Castle Rock again....” 10mo
Bklover I like this one, but is definitely not one of my favorites. 10mo
AnansiGirl I‘ve read Cujo once back in HS. Oof much harder to get through this time around. The ending had me hugging my doggo nieces and nephews a bit more. 10mo
Readingismyescape @Karkar I feel like the monster in the closet is the spirit of evil. Cujo takes place in Castle Rock, like some other King stories. So many awful and unexplained things happen there. It‘s a cursed place. When I think about all the coincidences that occurred in order for Donna and Tad to end up alone in that car at Cujo‘s house, it seems like something manipulated events to make it happen. 9mo

Pickpick

I re-read #Cujo for the #Losersclub and it made me feel nostalgic. Everyone is always smoking and drinking in the story--just like childhood.

I do wonder what brought the disparity of life fulfillment between men and women to the forefront of Stephen King's mind while writing a horror novel about a rabid dog. But from what I've heard, he said he was drinking too much himself to remember writing the book.

SitsWithaBook Lol. That's actually one of my favorite things about King. Not that he writes about farts 😄 but that he gives even minor characters such a rich life and specific internal dialog. 10mo
Bookladylinda 🤣 10mo
IamIamIam @SitsWithaBook I can see that. Over the years, I've found a love for Carl Hiaasen, who has a very similar style with minor characters! 😁 10mo

Boooooks @SitsWithaBook that‘s the same thing for me that I love so much about his writing it makes the characters feel really real. 10mo
Soubhiville 🤣😂🤣 my husband still appreciates this kind of humor at 42. He‘ll never grow out of it. 10mo
IamIamIam @Soubhiville 😂😂 Listen, Dav Pilkey is making a fortune on butt jokes! More power to him!!! 10mo

And the moral of #Cujo is, vaccinate your pets and give them lots of kisses. #losersclub @DGRachel

P.S. The "kissproof" lipstick was false advertising, but I sure can't get it off of her fur. Now my pibble looks like a playa.

SW-T What a cutey! 💕 10mo
Marilyncjackson So darn cute! Also try some dawn dish soap that‘s what I have used with the kisses I have left on my little pibs. It seems to work out pretty good. Let me know if it works. 10mo
BookwormAHN Very cute and that was definitely the moral of Cujo. 10mo
Eggbeater @Marilyncjackson Thanks for the tip. That worked! I used it to quickly wash mud off her paws too because she'd been digging in the yard. 💕 10mo
hermyknee 😍😍😍 10mo
Marilyncjackson @Eggbeater yay! I am so glad it worked on your pibs too. Now you can kiss and kiss and wash it off lol. Mine still hates when I have to wash his face so I try to wipe the lipstick off first but hehe sometimes he is too cute and I have to kiss his little face. And yes I am obsessed with my dog 🐶 10mo
