TieDyeDude I listened to this on audio, narrated by James Franco. It was a tough listen because Franco sounded completely uninterested. I really enjoyed the foreshadowing used by King, like the seemingly random lightning rod salesman. It was a long road to get to the events of the conclusion, but I loved the ride. I'd like to re-read a physical copy in the future; I feel like I'd like it even more without Franco's droning... 3mo

Bklover This is one of my favorites. Not sure why, except I remember reading it when it first came out. I loved it then, (I was 19), and I still reread it occasionally. It still holds up as one of my favorites. 3mo
kwmg40 Like @TieDyeDude, I disliked James Franco's narration, but otherwise I loved the story, and it really is hard not to think about today's political situation while reading this book. 3mo
kwmg40 After finishing the book, I immediately watched the 1983 adaptation, which I thought was very good. My only complaint is that it was so condensed. All the plot elements were there (with some minor changes) but so many details that contributed to the character development were cut. 3mo

I enjoyed the re-visit of this one. It felt too real/too haunting. I don't know if I would have been able to act in a similar way to the MC did. Like I get it, but could I? I highly doubt it.

Cleaned/organized my pantry for a big chunk of this #AudioCleaning (while drinking Bloody Mary's) - Love the new organization now.

Bklover This is one of my favorites of SK. The characters are real and so normal. This doesn‘t feel like horror to me. It feels like a tragic story of Johnny - a guy who happens to have special powers. I think the creepiness for me is how much he could be anyone. 7y

JulAnna I read this book once, a long time ago, and was very glad to re-read it now. I had not remembered the part of the story set in Castle Rock, and it was fun to see the introduction of those characters. There is still much about the book and the commentary on the tabloid press that is still relevant. I agree with @Bklover @CSeydel @BookwormAHN @daena - it is a great, tragic story. 7y
JulAnna Also, if anyone is interested in this sort of thing, Dees-the Inside View reporter- shows up again much later in a story in Nightmares and Dreamscapes. I always appreciate the SK universe ! 🤓 7y
