I Like Big Books and I Cannot Lie: A Different Sort of Handbook for Readers | Lori Oster

Yes , I think I will try this challenge this year ! I have read #chunksters before, when I read War & Peace I got to the point I had goals of 20 pages every time I picked it up. Did finish it , did love it. Admittedly, failed on some of them too. The titles that come to mind , A Little Life and the third in The Outlander series, Voyager.

Leftcoastzen @Amiable I finished Anna Karenina about 6 years ago , I think? Liked it but I struggled at times , had to set a page goal on that one too. As I recall short chapters , so that helped. 3w

Amiable @Leftcoastzen I read “A Little Life” when it came out. That‘s a difficult read. Well written, but emotionally exhausting. 3w

I do! I do!

I'm a relatively slow reader anyway so I don't worry about how much time a long book will take versus a shorter one. If the book starts to drag or isn't good, I know I can either skip ahead or stop reading, so no pressure.

Besides, a lot of non fiction science, and SFF, require longer page counts. Maybe that's why I don't give much thought to the length of books.

I will probably finish my 200 book goal by the end of October so in November and December I can read some of my Big Books in order to help me with my 100,000 pages goal for this year. So far I have read 71,121 pages and 182 books. I read 4 or 5 books a week so I think I can make both my goals.

I missed the first few minutes because I couldn't find the channel and assumed I had missed it. But yay! Loving this! Plus I got to see Pillars of the Earth! One of my most recent read books!

Cortg I rarely watch TV and it would take me 1/2 the show to find the channel I was looking for. Then, our cable company came out with a voice remote so I can say “PBS” and it goes right to the channel. Amazing! 7y
