How to Speak Cat: A Guide to Decoding Cat Language | Gary Weitzman, Aline Alexander Newman
post image
Pickpick

This is an excellent book to get the juvenile in your life who is an existing or new cat person. Co-written by a veterinarian, it is full of science-based information to help them understand and care for their animal. It's also full of interesting cat-trivia and cat pictures. Suitable for ages 8 - 12. I would, however, as with any nonfiction, recommend seeking out the newest edition.

Caring for Your Lion | Tammi Sauer

#UCFLAE3414F19
Caring For Your Lion by Tammi Saur and illustrated by Troy Cummings, is a MF PB about about a boy who gets a pet lion, and follows steps in order to care for him properly. I would use this book as a storytelling activity. Activities that relate to caring for pets can be found here: http://www.scholastic.com/caringforpets/

GroeningsC UDL: 7.3, when preforming the storytelling engage students so they are focused.
ESOL: 2, have students talk in small groups about any pets they have and how they care for them before reading this book.

This F book by Tedd Arnold is about a boy named Buzz and his pet fly named Fly Guy. This cute book follows the two as they try to find a pet for Fly Guy. I would use this book for a cute and fun RA. A great resource is https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/books/a-pet-for-fly-guy-by-tedd-arnold/. Dinosaur Pet | Marc Sedaka, Neil Sedaka

Dinosaur Pet by Neil Sedaka is a catchy song book that all kids would love. It is a F book that shares a story of a boy owning a dinosaur as a pet. In the book it shares the monthly struggles and joys of having a dinosaur. This would be a fun dramatic reenactment to get students involved and having fun. It also would be great for when students are learning the names of the months because the book goes over all of them. #ucflae3414f19

cassandram An awesome resource for this book is https://www.google.com/amp/s/singbookswithemily.wordpress.com/2015/01/03/dinosau.... It provides links to a video of the author singing the book, karaoke track, and an interview with the author. This further allows for students to participate in this catchy song. 1w
cassandram I would use UDL 3.1 activate prior knowledge by presenting this book after we have learned the names of the months. I would also include ESOL startaegy 24 by incorporating the students second language, for example the names of the month in Spanish. Overall such a fun book that I love! 1w
karlasanabria1 I love your teacher strategy attached to this book! Id could be adorable to see the students re-enact the book 1w
GroeningsC amazing post! super great resource! 1w

When Mitty looks for the perfect creepy pet, she doesn‘t have much luck. The toad ignores her, the bats won‘t hang out with her. Then a little kitten scratches on her door, and she finds the best pet a witch could want. +11 for #TeamStoker #scarathlon

Another installment of the Unicorn sagas I share with my nieces. Sparkle is a Unicorn like no other because he‘s a goat. However this does not deter his adoring little girl from loving him (after awhile) because he is such a spunky and free- spirited beast who does his best to be a good pet. Sparkle‘s adventures are pure fun for everyone!
