I have never been much of new year‘s resolution person but maybe some of the bookish goals I‘ve made for myself do constitute as resolutions. Let‘s talk about our reading goals for 2020! You can check out my latest video by clicking the link in my bio. https://youtu.be/qQN_6AsGrLY

EadieB @Butterflyamore Got great ideas from your video. I got Olive Again by Elizabeth Strout. Author is a Pulitzer Prize Winner. Don't know if you ever read her first book called Olive Ketteridge who is a beloved teacher/principal. Sister Caravaggio short stories by Irish authors such as; Maeve Binchy (who is my favorite), Peter Cunningham, Neil Donnelly, Cormac Millar and a few others. My husband gave me a $100 gift card to Amazon which I asked for. (edited) 1mo
EadieB @Butterflyamore My goals for 2020 are similar to yours in that I need to read the books I own. I do read 200 books a year so I have a special bookcase where I keep the books for 2020. Some have been on my TBR forever so I am looking forward to reading those. Love your book cart idea! Also doing some Nordic Mystery Authors Buddy Reads which I have owned those books for a while. I need to limit the books that are coming in too so I like your ideas. 1mo

EadieB @Butterflyamore I don't have any unfinished books but I have read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn which is a good book but you need to be in the mood for it so I can understand why you set it aside. I have read A Separate Peace in 2018 and can understand why you love that one. It is a book that does teach a good lesson. I've read a lot of Stephen King and do agree that you should read The Shining. Another favorite is 11/22/63 by him. 1mo
EadieB @Butterflyamore I want to read John Connolly too as I have many of his books and will have to move his books to my 2020 bookcase. My favorite Agatha Christie book is And Then There Were None which is a locked room mystery. I also think The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is one of her best books too. I need to finish my century of mystery books published for 100 years. I am 1/2 done as I have read 50 books and 50 more to go to finish the century. 1mo
Butterflyamore @EadieB Is it safe to assume you‘re going to get books with that gift card? I have read some of Agatha Christie‘s books, including And Then There Were None, but I would like to include that as a reread in the next few years, as it has been 20 years since I read it. I haven‘t read Olive Kitteridge although I do own a copy of the book. 😬 It was pitched recently at our book club but it didn‘t end being our January pick. 1mo
EadieB @Butterflyamore Yes the Amazon gift card is for books. I'm involved with the Nordic Buddy Reads and the library does not carry all the books. I own some but can find the rest on Amazon. 1mo

In the beginning of 2019, I decided to do a 52 week (52 prompts) reading challenge. This was one of the decisions I‘ve regretted the most in life. 😂 Despite my regret, I did learn several things about books outside of my comfort zone and my reading preferences. You can see my BookTube video about this here: https://youtu.be/JsLeXmgwut4

Freespirit I'm always reluctant to lock myself in to my future reading. I like to be spontaneous with it! 2mo
RachelO Sounds like you got loads out of it, despite regretting it! I‘m deliberately trying to step away from (most) challenges next year, because I do get stressed by them and find myself wanting to read anything but. But I really have enjoyed reading outside my comfort zone as well. 52 prompts though 😬- that‘s Way Too Much! 2mo

Butterflyamore @RachelO If I‘m ever bold (or foolish) enough to do another challenge, it will definitely be one with significantly fewer prompts! But I‘m with you on staying away from challenges next year. I just want a year devoted simply to the joy of reading! 2mo
Butterflyamore @Freespirit Very wise! Our hobby should make us happy - not feel like a chore! 2mo
EadieB @Butterflyamore I find challenges hard too as I am a mood reader! 2mo

“Really, Mom - don‘t you have enough stacks of unread books on your bookcases?” Maybe, but they were missing THESE books.

#booknerdproblems When you have hundreds of books on your tbr list and you plan on re-reading Stephen King's Dark Tower series in December and the Harry Potter series in January and you are contemplating re-reading The Hunger Games. And you feel no shame. #darktowerdecember #harrypotternewyear #maybehungergames #readingislife #readwhatyoulove #rereadwhatyouwant

MicheleinPhilly I should probably finish Harry Potter. I've only read the first 3. 🦄 *ducks* 3y
TheNextBook @MicheleinPhilly You can always join me in January! How could you stop after the first 3?! 3y
Megabooks I'm obsessed with re-reading. I re-listened to Horrorstör yesterday instead of finishing library books! 3y

TheNextBook @Ebooksandcooks some books are too good to not re-read! It makes me happy to reread Harry Potter so I do it every year. I really enjoyed the Dark Tower series and just want to relive that! I keep watching The Hunger Games movies and remembering how great the books were AND I just got them in Hardbacks (which I'm taking as a sign I need to re-read the books). I love it. Good books resonated and sometimes they need to be read again and again 3y
MicheleinPhilly I'm not really sure. I probably just got distracted by other, shinier books. I have them! I even asked for the box set for my birthday a few years ago! Poor neglected Harry. 😔 3y
TheNextBook @MicheleinPhilly Harry is there waiting for you when you can finally indulge in the story! 3y
ozma.of.oz Regret no rereads! 3y
TheNextBook @krysannethemums I never regret a reread! I feel no guilt or shame! 😂 Litsy is the place where I knew people would feel the same. 3y
