Here are my picks for March #ReadYourEbooks. Hopefully I do better this month than I had been. I have a goal to read one Percival Everett book each month this year, so I‘m happy to see Telephone pop up to fulfill that goal. @CBee

I‘ve been focusing a lot on my physical books lately and neglecting my ebooks a bit, so I‘m glad I managed to read one of my #ReadYourEbooks in March. I don‘t see myself sneaking another in before the numbers are drawn, so here‘s my list!
Especially excited for #bookedintime and #middlegrademarch this month!

Started in March. Continued in April. Bailed in May. I have loved other books by this author, but March is too dour and dry.
OTOH I bailed on Thursday Murder Club and will also bail on this follow-up. I‘ll still go to book club, though, because it‘s the last meeting until September.
I finished the Pandian and read a bit of Emma, so I‘ve been reading The Lola Quartet and liking it so far.

My March TBR is aggressive & as usual, I‘m not planning to get to all of it. I‘m still unsure on this month‘s #SundayBuddyRead The Golden Notebook as I‘m only through the intro & not loving it but I‘m going to try for more this weekend. This month I‘m joining in: #ChloeGongReadAlong #JaneAdjacent #NancyDrewBR #ChildrensClassicRead2024 #Naturalitsy #SheSaid #SeasonalCozies #FoodAndLit #Roll100 & a reread of Relish for my virtual foodie book club.⬇️
Little Women told mostly through the eyes of Mr. March. A friend recommended this knowing Little Women is a favorite, not knowing that I really can‘t stand Mr March. BUT this book did such a great job of explaining why he was such a pompous know it all without making him sympathetic. I loved it. Warning this book largely takes place in the south during the Civil War so it‘s not a gentle book.
My latest book for coffee shop time. I liked Little Women as a child. I am intrigued about what Brooks does with a character who was mostly off page.
I‘m not sure what to do about this…as far as historical fiction, it is well-researched. It‘s a decent read, if dry. I don‘t hold Little Women as dearly in my heart like many do, so that‘s not my issue either. I won‘t count this author out, I just think this one didn‘t resonate with me. Pictured: A. Bronson Alcott #TBRTarot for April: Which has a one word title.
Took a reading break to visit 2 bookstores for Independent Bookstore Day with my husband! He spoiled me with three books. 😁 I started the tagged with lunch + coffee but mostly chatted about books with my husband. 🥰 #hour10 #readathon #deweysreadathon @DeweysReadathon #IBD #IndependentBookstoreDay The husband: @CounterfeitNickel
#temptingtitles #withamonth always love a chance to promote Geraldine Brooks. This one isn‘t my fav, but still good! It‘s a story of the March sisters‘ father while he is away at war during the time Little Women takes place.

It was a crazy month between finalizing my transition to a new job (I start Thursday) & getting COVID, but I managed to read 12 books. I enjoyed most of what I read but favorites were Adult Assembly Required, Foul Lady Fortune, Murder at Haven‘s Rock & Death By Dumpling. Overall a good reading month.

“Little Women” is one of my favorite books of all time - Jo March was the first, and forever, character in whom I saw myself, even as a little kid - and so this is kind of interesting. Not as utterly amazing as the people who recommended it to me made it sound, but it‘s good so far. #march #geraldinebrooks #littlewomen #themarchfamily #civilwar #abolitionism #slavery #racism #reimaginedliterature
Well I only missed two books last month from my list so I did pretty good and I finished both my #bookspin and #doublespin reads! Hoping to work on my April bingo board today ❤️ #bookspinbingo
@TheAromaofBooks
March was a busy month, but I read a lot.. I think I can finish my 14th book today!📚📚
I'll try to catch up on my reviews in the next few days.
I didn't read my #doublespin (it's already on my April TBR) but I got a Bingo!!! 🥳🥳 (there's a second bingo with the help of a free square) @TheAromaofBooks
I‘m on spring break so I think I should join @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks and @Eggs for their #SavvySettings photo challenge!

All ready for March — my namesake and my birthday month! 5 new books on this month‘s board — ready to spin! #bookspin
Today, I‘m sharing all the books I read in March. I also participated in #bookishbingo and #tbrknockout this month.
Here‘s my TBR for March. I also want to participate in #bookishbingo this month. I‘m reading these two books for #theunreadshelfproject2021. March‘s reading challenge is to read a book you bought on a trip. I don‘t have a book from a trip so I‘m going to read Yellowbird for that and I‘m going to read Random Family for #theunreadshelfproject2021 bonus challenge which is to read a book that was an impulse buy.
Having visited the Alcott residence of Orchard House in Concord, MA in 2019 and learning about Louisa May Alcott‘s father Bronson, I enjoyed this historical fiction account of Mr. March‘s Civil War journey. Mr. March shares many of Bronson Alcott‘s characteristics and I felt that Brooks did a nice job of weaving his story into the back drop of such a beloved work as Little Women which was not an easy task.
Ebook on sale today.
I‘ve never read Little Women but I‘ve read this one and thought it was terrific. I love Brooks‘ books. So this one comes highly recommended
After March enlists in the Civil War he says, “one day I hope to go back to my wife, but also to the man of moral certainty that I was. That innocent man, who knew with such clear confidence exactly what it was that he was meant to do.” The author ponders, “I don‘t think he can go back. Nor do I think it desirable. Moral certainty can deafen people to any truths other than their own. By the end of the book, March sees the cost of his ideals.”
4⭐️ I was quite surprised by this book and really liked it. I had signed it out a few years ago from the library but wasn‘t able to get to it. I really liked that she used Mr. March as the narrator for most of the book and that Marmee was also humanized well. #ebook #historicalfiction #fiction #bookreview #bookstagram #2020
“Sometimes, true courage requires inaction; that one sits at home while war rages on...”. How apt that seems to our current situation. Sigh 😔
So March wasn‘t great, but all things considered it could have been so much worse. I finished four books and settled into WFH. I was a little under the weather. Meanwhile, tomorrow starts a new month, and we‘ll see what that brings. The habit I was going to go with was to work on $ stuff, but we‘re okay at least for now. Instead I will endeavor to take a walk every day and read at least a little bit every day. One day at a time. #bfc

Having recently finished reading Little Women, I thought this would be a nice follow-up, a fictional account of Mr. March, who gets relatively little attention in Alcott‘s novel. I‘ve also really enjoyed other books by Geraldine Brooks. But this one missed the mark for me. I found that the story dragged and that Mr. March‘s character didn‘t really match up with the man Alcott alluded to in LW. Just a so-so for me.
