Finally getting around to compiling my 2022 reading wrap-up. I posted a bunch of stats from Goodreads and Storygraph on Jan. 1st, but I wanted to make a cuter graphic highlighting some major stats.

Top 22 in 2022 coming next!

*This is my first attempt at making graphics in Canva for my Bookstagram! I think it turned out cute :)

I completely forgot to post this here but better late than never. I read 83 books in 2022, most of them were read during the first part of the year. I'm hoping to read at least 100 this year.

I didn‘t read as many books as I wanted to in 2022, but I like to think it‘s about quality rather than quantity! 🙂 these were my four favorites. I listened to the audiobook version of each, with the exception of Local Woman Missing which I simply read a physical copy of. here‘s to more great reads in 2023! 🥂

BittersweetBooks Completely agree with quality over quantity for most things in life 1y

Considering everything that was going in my life, it was a pretty good reading year. I had hoped to read more, but life got in the way. I am hoping that this year I will be able to read more, but I'll see how things go. #2022 #yearinbooks #goodreads

I‘m always pretty stingy with my 4-5 star ratings. A book has to be really good to warrant 4 or above and be basically perfect, in my opinion, to deserve 5 stars.

On the other end of the spectrum, I rarely finish books that are going to be rated below 3 stars (what‘s the point?). If I do, it‘s turned into a hate read, is part of a series I want to finish, or I am hoping it will get better before the end.

I am always surprised by how many books that are classified as romance since it feels like I read a good variety of genres, but I can‘t help if I want a HEA for a mood booster more often than not!

Interesting graph! One of my favorite features of Storygraph are tracking the moods of the books I finish. Looks like my year started out dark and got lighter in the summer (makes sense!).

Thoughts on the Storygraph wrap-up compared to Goodreads?

I‘ve been really enjoying using Storygraph more in 2022. I won‘t be giving up Goodreads, but I‘m glad there is a legitimate alternative option now, and the statistics/data and infographics really set it apart.

Follow me on Storygraph: @Kimberlone

CoffeeNBooks I've decided I much prefer Storygraph to Goodreads. 1y
BookNAround I really like StoryGraph. I never did manage to do anything with Goodreads since I‘ve been on LibraryThing since the beginning. 1y
CBee Just looked through mine and WOW I love SG‘s wrap up so much more! Love all the graphs and charts and such 😊 1y

Bookzombie I gave up Goodreads at the end of 2021. I really like Storygraph. 1y
IndoorDame At this point I‘ve pretty much given up on goodreads and moved over to StoryGraph. I tend to leave star rating but not reviews on there, use it to track my challenges and get some of my recommendations from there 1y
WJCintron 😃🎉🙏🥳👏👏👏 1y
BekaReid I've never used Good Reads but started StoryGraph last year and absolutely love it! All the stats with the charts and graphs are fantastic, and of course, the ease of tracking. 1y
fredamans 👏 👏 👏 1y
TheNeverendingTBR Well done, Kim! 😁 1y
Kimberlone @CoffeeNBooks @BookNAround @cbee @Bookzombie @IndoorDame @BekaReid I agree that Storygraph has some really great features especially compared to Goodreads. I will still use both since I‘m not so anti-Amazon, but I think it‘s great that there‘s a superior free alternative to Goodreads for those looking to avoid the Amazon Industrial Complex. 1y
peanutnine I love storygraph! I stopped using goodreads this year just cause I didn't feel like tracking on both. Love all the stats 😍 I sent you a friend request, I'm sglance9 ☺️ 1y

I'm loving this graph from StoryGraph. Really sums up my experience figuring out how to make time to read again after my son was born.

122 books
35,373 pages

Longest Read: A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas (736)
Shortest Read: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See by Bill Martin Jr and Eric Carle (24)

My 2022 reading stats! Goals were to read 50 books and read down my TBR, specifically books that have been on my TBR the longest- crushed both!

79/93 were from my TBR! 😱
36 read or DNF were from my oldest TBR books
Read or DNF 29/33 #roll100 selections 😱
Read or DNF all 12 #bookspin picks and 10/12 #doublespin picks (not always in their original months) 😱
Checked off 32 years for #192025
Read 8 #1001books
⬇️⬇️⬇️

sarahbellum A huge THANK YOU to @TheAromaofBooks and @PuddleJumper for hosting your respective challenges- I credit you both for helping me crush my goals in 2022! 🎉 1y

My year of reading 2022

As always my moods are reflective, emotional, challenging & mysterious
I exceeded all of my goals
23% Nonfiction (I aim for 25% but this is close!)
Most of the books I read are 3-400 with a medium of 351
I mostly read literary, LGBTQIA, historical, and contemporary
And my most read authors this year were Toni Morrison followed by Becky Chambers, Alice Oseman.

I read 148 books as well as my first complete read through the Bible in 2022. There was a good mix of books by both male & female authors, over 60% were from the library, and 20% were owned books. I listened to more audio than in previous years. I tried making a list of 22 for 2022 and couldn‘t make decisions, so I cut it more drastically to a list of my newly read 10 most memorable and impactful, rather than favorites.

DogMomIrene That‘s a lot of audiobooks! I‘ve been upping my audiobook time in the last 6ish months, but I don‘t think I‘d get to 786 hours! Wowser! Congratulations 🙌🏼 1y
Daisey @DogMomIrene Years ago I never would have guessed I would listen to this much either. I‘ve increased my listening over time. Now, living alone, I‘ll often listen to a whole book on a weekend as well as a bit every day on my drive to school and/or an evening walk. Additionally, I‘ve increased speed as I continue to listen. I again gave very few 5 ⭐️ ratings in 2022, but there were several 4 ⭐️ reads! My longest reads were the Bible (combination print & audio), Ulysses (all print & audio), and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay (audio only).

This graph of original publication takes a bit of time to create, but I always find it an interesting aspect of my reading.

#ReadingStats #2022Stats

sarahbellum Your rating distribution is very similar to mine- very few 5 stars and mostly 3 stars. A book has to be exceptional to get 5! 1y

Looked back at my 2022 "Books Read" list and here are my faves of the year! At the Pond and No One is Talking About This both moved me in really specific ways, and the Herzog was a gorgeous fever dream. Typically I wouldn't include a re-read in a #YearInReview post, but reading Wuthering Heights with the #PemberLittens was so much fun and truly one of my favorite reading experiences in a long time. Can't wait to see the stories to come in '23!

batsy True, the WH group read really stands out. An absolutely wild book and made all the better with #pemberlittens chat 😁 1y

Final Totals for 2022

306 books read and 106,829 pages read. Both exceeding the totals for 2021 and the targets I set myself ( 300 and 105,000 pages)

Also slightly smaller books (22.8 less pages on average) but almost 30 more pages read every day.

Not my highest totals for a year but close to them.

Books read can be found here. https://www.librarything.com/topic/338221#n8016394

Another fun twist on a classic reading challenge 💖

A to Z main character names. Originally I was going to go for 5 names per letter, but quickly decided to bump it down to 3 names per letter instead. Since I came up with this challenge on a whim, rules are lax. One book can cover multiple letters/names. #2022Goals #2022ReadingChallenges
