#AwesomeAugust snuck up on me! It‘s birthday week so I‘m hoping to get in some extra reading time… we‘ll see. My goal is to get through these four. As always, thanks so much for hosting the best nine days each month, @Andrew65 !

It was a successful #JubilantJuly Readathon here. I didn‘t quite finish all four books I started out to read but almost… just 20% left of The Last Train to Key West and I threw in Shadows and Sorrows, #4 in the Pete Stone Private Eye series. If any of you are from south central KS, this series is set in Wichita in the 1930‘s. I‘ve enjoyed all four of these books and hope Michael D. Graves writes more.
#FirstLineFridays - this is the longest first line I‘ve experienced and it went way over the character limit so it‘s finished in the comments. 🤓❤️📚 “Back in 1961, when women wore shirtwaist dresses and joined garden clubs and drove legions of children around in seatbeltless cars without giving it a second thought;
Ready for #JubilantJuly Readathon hosted by @Andrew65 - the best nine days in July. My goal is to finish up Honestly Ben and Lessons in Chemistry, both started earlier this week and to get through The Last Train to Key West and Turning Angel before they have to go back to their respective libraries. It‘s gonna be a scorcher here the next few days so I have my excuse to stay in where it‘s cool.
“The drive from Salina to Morgen was three hours, and for much of it, Emmett hadn‘t said a word.”
Loving this book!
#FirstLineFridays
@ShyBookOwl
I‘m lounging on the couch reading… Missy Jo is lounging on me. Happy Independence Day! 🎆🗽🎆
#JoysOfJune Readathon continues on for a few more hours, but I‘m going to finish up a little early I didn‘t meet my 40 hour goal but I finished six books and started #7 - it was a success! Thanks again @Andrew65 for hosting. Anxiously awaiting the next one! 🤓📚❤️
“Stewie rolled his shoulders and pulled the collar of his shirt away from his sweaty neck.” #FirstLineFridays
YAY…it‘s time for #JoysOfJune Readathon! My goals: reading six books and hitting a total of 40 hours of reading time. @Andrew65 - thank you for hosting these monthly events. I ❤️ them!!
1. We plant a garden every year. / 2. Tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, peppers, chilies, rhubarb, raspberries, basil, chives, rosemary, strawberries, and a few flowers. / 3. I ❤️ The Secret Garden. #wondrouswednesday
Hoping #MarvellousMay #Readathon will get me out of my April-to-May reading slump that seems to happen every year. I‘m setting my goal at 40 hours and attempting to get through The Power of the Dog, Bewilderment, The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot, and make a dent in The Quiet Game. 🤞📚❤️🤓
#AwesomeApril #Readathon was a success! Three books read and I‘m halfway through The Fountains of Silence. Thanks @Andrew65 for hosting!
I almost forgot about #AwesomeApril… what was I thinking?!? I‘m setting my goal light - I‘ve returned to work after six weeks off for medical reasons and am not getting as much reading done as I‘d like as I transition to my new normal. I think I can get three books finished, so I‘ll go with that.
My March reads. It was an interesting month - three non-fiction reads exceeds the total NF I would read in a whole year. Nala‘s World was my fave of the three because… well, a cat! 🐱
A successful #MarvellousMarch Readathon! I started and finished five books (2 non-fiction and 3 fiction) and made good progress on Wintering and Salt to the Sea. I didn‘t quite meet my 40 hour goal and I probably could get in the remaining 2+ hours I‘m short, but bed is calling so I‘m shutting off the lights. Thanks for hosting @Andrew65
Joining in for #MarvellousMarch #Readathon starting tomorrow. My goal is to finish the four non-fiction books I have in progress… I‘m not sure how that happened because I typically only have one non-fiction in progress at a time. I‘ll set my time goal at 40 hours.
1. My hold on this just came in on the tagged book so I‘m planning to start it later today.
2. Before 2020 I rarely heard unprecedented… since 2020 I hear it multiple times a day. I‘m kinda over everything being unprecedented. 🙄
#Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView
My February reads including a reread of some Calvin and Hobbs… the best comic strip ever!
Several short stories and a novella about race in today‘s America. The stories were beautifully written but painful stories. My favorites in the book were Richard of York Gave Battle in Vain, Alcatraz (which includes the quoted text), and the title - The Office of Historical Corrections.
Happy that I was finally able to concentrate enough to read without audio on this blustery cold day. Missy Jo wasn‘t ready to open her eyes this morning.
YAY - my state!!! 🌻🌻🌻 #RoadTripUSA2022
1. While obvious books are The Wizard of Oz and Little House series, the tagged book is one of my favorite cookbooks.
2. There are so many places to visit in my home state but the one I return to time and time again is the Flint Hills. Visit the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve just north of Strong City to step back in time.

#FabulousFebruary wasn‘t a total loss but well below my initial goal. I finished the middle 3 in the Amos Decker series (thanks audiobooks) and am halfway through The Office of Historical Corrections for total pages of 1,645. No idea how much time I spent reading because I kept forgetting to stop and start my stopwatch (thanks pain meds). The best part was spending lots of time with Missy Jo and in The Fallen there is a gray cat named Missy! 🤓
1. I love Mr. Bridge and the companion Mrs. Bridge - maybe because we lived in Kansas City and I always enjoy books with familiar places in them.
2. If in KC, I‘d suggest a trip to The City Market and a stop at Planters, the best garden store, and also the rose garden at Loose Park. If in St. Louis, spend time on The Hill - especially if you love Italian food.

#FabulousFebruary #Readathon is off to a slow start. 😪 I set my goal high because of lots of downtime after knee replacement surgery but wasn‘t counting on scrambled brain from my meds. 😵💫 I‘ve been able to read about ten pages of Olympus, Texas, and listen to a couple of hours of The Last Mile while getting in my “exercise”. Missy Jo is taking good care of me though!
Started my first Coleen Hoover read yesterday and wrapped it up earlier today. It was a good read about love, tragedy, loss, forgiveness, and redemption.
Excited about the upcoming #FabulousFebruary #Readathon!
I have some time off work so I‘m going to attempt 70 hours and eight books… double what I accomplished during #JoyousJanuary!🤞📚🤓
Thanks for hosting @Andrew65 👏👏👏
1. I don‘t get many books gifted to me because everyone knows I use libraries for my books, but my sister gifted The Quotable Cat to me.
2. I do gift books on my shelves and sent Olive Kitteridge to a friend a while back.
3. Tagged book is not a typical love story but it is a wonderful book about love that will make you laugh and cry.
#WondrousWednesday @Eggs
Thanks for the tag! @EadieB
My first ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 of 2022! The first two-thirds of this sweet novel of loss and grief had me LOL with all the antics GUP tried to get his niece and nephew to open up about the loss of their mom… the last third had me 😢😢 as GUP dealt with his own grief. I finished this yesterday in the early afternoon and tried to start my next read in the evening… it was too soon as I kept thinking about Patrick and his family.
1. Tagged above.
My favorite read in January, Razorblade Tears, was a story about redemption, revenge, forgiveness, and acceptance. I highly recommend it. My other reads were good ones, too. I‘m on to February. We‘re expecting 6-9 inches of snow tomorrow so today I‘m loading up with reading material. 🥶
My longest read in 2021 was 768 pages and tagged. I ❤️chunksters but have to get mentally prepared to start them. #Two4Tuesday
#JoyousJanuary wrap-up. Finished these four and almost finished Harlem Shuffle… it was a successful nine days of reading! ❤️📚🤓
Interesting “local” read full of places and businesses I‘m familiar with and my February book club book. #FirstLineFridays
I‘m on the couch with Missy Jo and my book contemplating an outside walk this afternoon… the windchill of 1F is about to convince me to stay on the couch with my book and Missy Jo enjoying #JoyousJanuary Day 1. 🥶
This happened today 👍👏👏👏
Second Hand Heart is about two people coming together in order for both to move on with their lives in separate directions. Vida has needed a new heart for all of her life and receives a donor heart from Richard‘s wife who was killed in a car accident. Vida and Richard‘s journey to move forward with their lives is the premise of the book. This is not my favorite CRH book but it was an enjoyable and quick read.
Up first for 2022. It‘s snowing here so I‘m spending quality time on the couch with Missy Jo.
Wrapping up my 2021 reading with a look back at my favorites for the year. If anyone is a Brandi Carlile fan, I suggest listening to the audio version of Broken Horses… you‘ll be treated to a concert at the end of her memoir. 🎵🎶🎵🎶 Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2022!
The science educator husband picked this out for me to read... 😷😬😮
I managed a late start for #StayHome24in48... First up - Salvation in Death.
Morning Readers! I‘m rested and ready to kick up my 24in48 weekend a notch. I always make it 10 hour and some odd minutes, but this time I‘m striving for 12 hours. I‘m also going to finish up some books (hopefully several) I have started but just never finished... first up is Wonder. Here I go!
I think maybe I‘m too old for this... or maybe I was just having a bad day. I finished it, but didn‘t enjoy it.
