a short read to add to my reading goal…a must read for book lovers and coffee lovers #audiophile #readinggoal #readinglife
so-soA slow-paced, contemplative novel about life running a bookshop. We meet various characters and discover the roots of their hopes, wistfulness and melancholy.
More vibes than plot, this was nonetheless a cosy read.
A major theme was work and the way it can both drain or enrich a life.
A sweet, gently philosophical read that celebrates books and coffee.

At first the book was a bit slow; seemed to be about too many people who never set foot outside their homes, but the book although lacking in any real depth grows on you!
This one was also hard to choose. I liked multiple nonfiction books this month.

I just started this tonight. So far, it's part history and part unabashed love letter to bookshops. Quite charming, and how could I resist that cover?
pickI loved this book and wish I hadn't let this sit on my bookshelf for so long!
Miranda inherits a Bookshop from her estranged uncle, that includes clues she has to decipher, just like when she was a little kid. I had to suspend disbelief a little, as it seems he left a lot up to chance. But the whimsical nature of it lightened the heartbreak of the story.
And I loved all of the references to Shakespeare and the classics!

pickThis is a love letter to rare books and the people who sell them. This is a wonderful collection of tales from the author‘s time working at a rare bookshop. The book is quite humorous and wonderful to read. It‘s a quick read. I was actually a bit sad when it ended. I‘m sure there are plenty of takes he still has to tell, and I would love to hear them.
