Simple Choices | Kimberly Collins

They were small, simple choices. Seemingly insignificant yes-or-no decisions. Each one leading her one small step further from where she was supposed to be, from where she truly wanted to be. Step by simple step. Piled together, the choices were one huge mountain of chaos and noise. But one at a time, who could tell any difference from the moment just before she made the choice, to the quiet moment just after? Simple choices. "There's a way of life that looks harmless enough; look again-it leads straight to hell." - Proverbs 14:12 "In Kimberly Collins' gripping debut novel, Simple Choices, the lives of two best friends, Darlene and Mickey, become irrevocably intertwined as they try to cope with a world of grim horizons in the hollows of southern West Virginia. Their descent into a world of partying, drugs, sex, and crime-centered on Ray, a man and manipulator they both love, and his drug-dealing pizza place-will keep you on the edge of your seat. Most shocking of all: the stunning act that brings this bad trip to its desperate conclusion really happened." - Dean King, nationally bestselling author of Skeletons on the Zahara and The Feud: The Hatfields and McCoys: The True Story"

As usual, I‘m freaking out and over thinking things...This time it‘s gifts for the #blitsyhistorymonth swap. I‘m posting this (with permission from @Chelleo ) in hopes that my match will see this and basically tell me what to buy for her. 😆 Feel free to signal boost and share!

#bhmswap #blitsyswap

Chelleo Your match might need help too! ☺️ thanks for posting this! 6y
EchoLogical @Chelleo She doesn't. I just got my box today. That was gonna be my next post. 😂 6y

Liatrek Lol!! I‘ve had fun stalking mines but feel your stress😱 6y
EchoLogical @Chelleo Right?! LoL. I'm not sending mine out until the end of the month because the wait is awful. Nothing worse than looking at a package you can't open for 6 weeks. 🤣 6y
EchoLogical @Liatrek My match doesn't post very often so I'm not getting a whole lot to go on. LoL 6y

I'm a huge foodie so allthe food. Ravenclaw through and through. I get my ice cream in a cup with a cone on top. If a book is bad enough I'll bail. #lifestooshortforbadbooks

VOTE IN THE COMMENTS! From experience, coolest cover, or go with your gut.

The January Dancer - An artifact of prehuman origins has changed hands many times, and these are the stories of the pirates and poets who held it.

Paradox Bound - When a strange traveler shows up in Eli‘s sleepy town he ends up involved in her quest across time.

The Humans - Told from the perspective of an alien evaluating the oddities of humanity.

Open til Monday!

TommieMarie74 I haven‘t read any of these but all three sound great. Based on cover alone, I would go with The Humans. Based on description, I would pick January Dancer. It‘s a tough choice. Good luck!! 7y
sprainedbrain I haven‘t read any of them, but after reading the descriptions, I would go with January Dancer! 7y
RebelReader I read The Humans a couple of years ago, but don‘t recall much about it. I agree with @TommieMarie74 January Dancer sounds intriguing. Happy listening! 🤓 7y

VioletBramble I'd pick The January Dancer. It sounds like an episode of Torchwood. 7y
batsy Haven't read any, but The January Dancer from the description (sounds amazing). 7y
Scott_BookInvasion I‘ve listened to The Humans and Paradox Bound! I loved The Humans so much. Matt Haig really gets to your core. It‘s funny and the final chapters are so good it really picks you up about what it means to be human. Paradox Bound kept the pace pretty fast and was a quick one to get through. 7y
AmyG I‘d go with The Humans as I hear it‘s amazing. @Kaye loved this book so much. 7y
398.2 Haven‘t read any but now I am going to check out January Dancer. Sounds good! 7y
LouBeth Paradox Bound has been on my TBR for a while so that's my vote. 7y
Karkar I bailed on Paradox Bound, so I vote one of the other two. 🤓 7y
mabell January Dancer sounds pretty intriguing (vote based on blurb) 7y
vivastory January Dancer 7y
Dogearedcopy I vote for ‘January Dancer‘ because Stefan Rudnicki is the narrator; And hello? * Pirates!* 7y
Dogearedcopy I love both Peter Clines and Ray Porter but I heard that ‘Paradox Bound‘ is something of an editorial mess. Still, this would be my second pick because Ray Porter has the ability to make weak material work. 7y
Jabberwocky I appear to be in the minority but the humans looks cool! 7y
Dragon I vote for The Humans because I‘m currently reading the ebook. 7y
diovival Going with my gut. I'm feeling drawn to The Humans. 7y
Reggie Aliens have been in my tv and movies lately so I‘m going with The Humans. 7y
SconsinBookyBadger Following my gut, I‘m choosing The Humans. 7y
RohitSawant I'd like to say The Humans, because I read a nice review recently, but I'm going with The January Dancer. Kinda feel like it might be fast-paced, which would be great for a LOTR hangover. 7y
xicanti I haven't read any of these, but I do love a good quest across time so I think Paradox Bound sounds cool. 7y
TommieMarie74 @MisfitNerdBooks That‘s good to know. I‘m adding it to my #tbr. 😊 7y
TommieMarie74 @Dogearedcopy Right?!? How can anyone say no to pirates? 😍 7y
Lindy Is the voting still open? I would snap up 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk @Lindy It won by a nose (pun very much intended) and I started it this morning! (edited) 7y

After Alice - The mind behind Wicked takes on Wonderland and the aftermath of Alice's disappearance.

Brotherhood of the Wheel - Truckers are actually a secret society protecting us from dark magic on the roads.

The Goblin Emperor - The half-goblin prince who has been hidden away must run the kingdom when the royal family is murdered.

Foragingfantasy I vote Goblin! Looks great! 8y

Nat_Reads I really liked the Goblin Emperor!! Unexpected!! 8y
xicanti I read it in print so I can't vouch for the performance in audio, but THE GOBLIN EMPEROR is generally wonderful. 8y
vivastory Goblin Emperor. 8y
Laura317 The truck drivers! 8y
Seshat Goblin Emperor! 8y
llwheeler Goblin Emperor! (Also read in print so can't vouch for the audiobook, but Goblin Emperor!) 8y
Dogearedcopy Bronson Pinchot is a masterful narrator; so without question, I would pick up *whatever* he is narrating! You won't be disappointed! 8y
Dogearedcopy My second choice would be Katy Kellgren. She can, at times, sound a little affected with her Britishisms; but she also always sounds like she's having fun 😄 8y
DrexEdit If you haven't decided yet, I really enjoyed the goblin emperor. I read the print book though so... Grain of salt. 8y
LeahBergen Hmm... I think I'm feeling The Goblin Emperor. What did you go with? 8y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk @LeahBergen Voting's still open. Got a few hours of my chunkster left. 8y
