I really liked this. Bob and James saved each other. It was eye-opening to read about James‘ homelessness and life on the streets, and how hard it was for him to kick his addiction. It is a quick book to read. The book itself only goes for a couple of years after James and Bob found each other, but looking them up online after finishing, I am saddened to hear that Bob died after being hit by a car in 2020

I really liked this very heartwarming true story. James was a recovering addict who really needed something to focus on to help motivate him to stay clean. When he saw Bob outside of his apartment, he was only going to let him stay until he could find the owner. When he couldn't find the owner, Bob became his reason for getting up every day, finding work, and staying clean.

I saw the movie based on this book about the bond between a cat and a former heroin addict a few weeks ago. I am a cat lover, & the movie was 100% awesome. Of course I was going to read the book. Bob the cat was hit by a car and died just a few days ago. 😢 #covid19readathon

This book is everything. Meet James, a heroin addict who then meets Bob, both are homeless and the most wonderful friendship grows. I never got to see James and Bob in London but they were quite the duo selling The Big Issue. I've since watched the film which is equally as good.
2020 update - this book has sprung back into my mind having heard about the death of Bob. RIP Bob, you literally are the most famous cat in the world!

One of the cutest and heart warming books I've read so far. I would highly recommend it as a light weekend read for a cat lover ^_^

I didn't think i would enjoy this book but i am glad i read it and i fell inlove with it!
Based on a true story, Bob just goes to show that friendship doesn't need to be made with another human, a cat could be more loyal!
And it ended happy! ☺

Ive just finished this little book, what a lovely heartwarming story.....true too. How a recovering heroin addict turns his life around after finding Bob, a stray cat in London. Lovely tale.... 🐈 🐈 ...I‘ve just seen there are YouTube videos of Bob....bob the big issue cat...soooo cute

I finally finished it! This was just the book I needed this morning. Light hearted and uplifting. I can definitely relate to the way James Bowen writes about Bob. I have a very special relationship with my cat, Chaff. To the point where I get slightly offended when people say they don‘t like cats.

Starting this book! The lovely women in my book club have told me it‘s really good!

A bit simplistic but as a cat lover it was enjoyable.

Finished-2 hours till book group. I was underwhelmed. I mean, I‘m relieved the cat didn‘t die and I appreciate how they saved each other but overall I was bored. I‘ve come to the conclusion that I‘m just not a big fan of animal stories. And book group night calls for my banned books socks that I got for my birthday.

Book group is next Monday, I guess it‘s time I read the book. I don‘t really like animal stories (even though I like animals) but I‘ve been assured nothing traumatic happens here.

Wenn ich das Buch (irgendwann mal) lese, werde ich ein besonderes Augenmerk darauf richten, ob Bob tatsächlich so menschlich interagiert, wie auch im Bonusmaterial zum Film alle sagen. ?

Ich hab zwar "nur" den Film gesehen, aber der war herzerwärmend. Vielleicht ist es auch so einen Mädels-Ding. Katze, Gitarre spielender Kerl mit halblangen Haaren und Bart … Keine Ahnung. Ich fand die Geschichte schön.
Die Balance zwischen James' Drogenleben und der Freundschaftsgeschichte ist wirklich gut gelungen. Besonders freut mich, dass es mal keine obligatorische Liebesgeschichte gibt.

Wenn's mir begegnet, werde ich auch das Buch lesen.

Ich hab zwar den Film dazu ? entliehen, konnte mich aber erinnern, dass er auf einem bzw. mehreren Büchern basiert. Die Mutter, deren Tochter die DVD zurückbrachte, sagte, ihr Mann wiederum hätte gesagt, der Film sei sehr nah an der | den Buchvorlage|n. – Zack, da hatte ich den Film mitgenommen. ?

Finished the audiobook yesterday on my bus ride home from Leipzig and it really warmed my heart. A must-read for all cat lovers out there :)

I finally got to see the movie adaption of A Street Cat Named Bob...featuring Bob as himself! This is one of my all time favorite books!
