This one has been on my TBR list for a while and she is up next.

This book kept me reading because I needed to know what happened to the baby. But I struggled with it because every single character was awful and one-dimensional- except the detective who was one-dimensional but not awful. Even the town had zero atmosphere or local color, it could have been anywhere.
I've liked a previous book by this author so I'll give her another try in the future.
This book is sooo slow. I‘ll probably finish it some other time but life‘s too short and there are too many other books to read.
My usual Saturday morning: book and tea on the back porch ☺️
A domestic suspense debut about a young couple and their apparently friendly neighbors—a twisty, rollercoaster ride of lies, betrayal, and the secrets between husbands and wives. . .
You will need to take a Dramamine in order to cope with the nonstop twists and turns of this literary roller coaster. This is a finish-in-a-day book, very fast, and full of flawed people with desperate motives. Between the wild emotional dynamics of the main family and the behind the scenes shenanigans of said main family, this book will keep you guessing! But legit, it‘s very twisty, so be ready for that reading whiplash!
These people were BANANAS 🤣!!! I don‘t think there was one character, except maybe the police officers, who weren‘t shady little liars. I love unreliable characters but this was almost too much. You can‘t believe anything they say or do so you can‘t really guess where the storyline is going. If you just go along with the ride, which is what I ended up doing, it was a wild ride that I enjoyed. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
A thrilling and haunting story of a father who staged a kidnapping of his own infant daughter to ask for ransom money from his father in law. The neighbors next door know more to the story than the detectives and police on the scene, so how far will this horrendous scandal go on in the hopes for some seed money for his failing business? Twists and turns will hit you out of nowhere.
I haven‘t read this one but apparently it has a #SurpriseEnding 😱 #SpringSkies 🌺🌼🌸🌻🌨️☀️
#BookNerd 🤓📚💙
This book has been on my TBR since it came out and was very popular. No hold at the library now. lol
I finished listening to this soapy little gem of brain candy whilst doing cooking chores today. It kept me company and my brain busy through many boring and time consuming tasks so PICK!
Also, Merry Jólabókaflóð , ya nerdy animals!
This one was all kinds of crazy! Kind of like a train wreck that you can‘t tear yourself away from.
3.75⭐
This was ok. It held my attention but took me a long time to read for it being such a short book. I didn't care about any of the characters and thought them to be pretty dumb, so I didn't care much about what happened.
I predicted quite a few of the big twists, as well.
Overall.. just meh. 🤷♀️
Read this book in 8 hours!!! Hooked me right off the bat!
Yup there were many more twists left! Really enjoined this one :)
#DogsOfLitsy Zoey slept near me most is the day while I read
They are really laying on the Mental Illness angle thick. This poor woman with postpartum depression.
I mean I‘m not even half way, so I‘m sure there a couple more twists coming.
Going to start this one while wrapped in the covers. Looked like we were getting warm weather and it turned cold and rainy :( This is the #BlindDateWithABook that I received from #LitsyLove
Wow. I read this in one sitting. What a crazy twisty story. You‘ll never figure out what really happened the night the baby was kidnapped. Trust no one - not even yourself. Highly recommend! Also clear your schedule because you won‘t be able to put this down!
It was ok. A lazy afternoon‘s read, one of those thrillers with the twists and turns that give you whiplash but I‘ll probably forget all about tomorrow.
“I think she was hurt that I wasn‘t that interested in her pregnancy. We had less in common. Then, when the baby was born, it took up all her time. I understand that—she was exhausted—but she became less interesting, if you know what I mean.” Cynthia pauses and crosses her long legs. “I think she should have gone back to work after the baby was a few months old, but she didn‘t want to. I think she felt she had to be the perfect mother.”
A hot mess, but in a (mostly) good way. Sucked me in from the very beginning. I was screaming at my Kindle by the end of the first few pages. A preposterous, but fun and easy read. If you enjoy a twisty, convoluted plot and questionable characters, you'll love this one.
I want to give this 5 stars I do, but I was a little confused at a part when they were introducing the (1ST) person who did it and I want 5 stars to DO IT for me. I was stunned when I finished the book can't wait to finish the 2nd one to this!! Love it 10/10 recommend!!
Ugly love is on hold found The Couple Next Door though!!! The Silent Patient also on hold (wanted for a like 2 years). + new library card:) So pic= my current reads:)
Fantastic book!! Twists and turns. Lots of family secrets! Couldn't put this book down!! Absolutely loved it!!
This was a fun, fast listen. I couldn‘t stop. The story was so convoluted that I‘m glad they recapped it at the end! 😂 I think this was my first book by LaPena, but I‘ll look for more by her in the future when I want a “fluffy” read. #Libby #audiobook
This was a solid 7/10 thriller. Kind of unpredictable which was nice but I wanted more depth and substance. Still entertaining and worth the read
The characters were a little annoying. It wasn‘t a bad book i just didn‘t enjoy it too much.
Book 2📚
A friend gave me this one to read and I was hooked by chapter 1😂 I didn‘t expect the opening chapter to hit with that!
The twists definitely kept coming in this one! I would think that “THIS” must be the big twist, wrong!
Read it completely today, so you could say it gripped me!😂👌🏼
I'm doing my first ever buddy read and this is the book we chose. It's one of those that grabs your attention within the first few sentences and doesn't let go!
My #blackcat wanted in with the #blackstack. Nerd. I was really digging this book up until the last two chapters & then I was kinda pissed. Before that though, I thought it was very twisty & I kept finding myself second-guessing my hunches. I was sucked in by the storyline of a kidnapped baby while her parents were next door. If the ending hadn't been so unnecessary? Maybe? this would have been a solid pick but as is it's a soft pick for me. ⭐⭐⭐💫
Wow, I didn't think I'd read this in one sitting,. But here we are. I started this around 12pm.and at 11pm I am finished and it was a wild ride, there were so many twists and turns I did not see coming. Wild. Great story. The writing felt a bit choppy to me, but overall, it was well done.
Excellent book! I was hoping it wasn‘t overhyped but it stood strong. I loved how we kept getting pieces about what was going on throughout and the entire story was twisty instead of one big twist at the end. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was on edge with this domestic suspense debut about a young couple and their apparently friendly neighbors—a twisty, rollercoaster ride of lies, betrayal, and the secrets between husbands and wives. . .

#TheCoupleNextDoor totally reminded me of Madeleine McCain case. A couple goes to dinner next door leaving their 6 months old daughter behind while she is asleep. They take rounds coming back home and making sure she is alright. And then she is not. She is kidnapped. What happens next is a lot of twists and turns. It keeps you glued to the book till the end. A good mystery read.
My rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.
This is day 206

A couple leaves their baby home while they're at a dinner party next door, & even though they check on her every 1/2 hour, she's missing when they return. All the characters are hard to like, & they're all possibly the culprit. This book was twisty & suspenseful, but some of it was hard to swallow - while I love a book where nothing is as it seems & everyone's a suspect, this one may have taken it a bit too far for me. Still, an entertaining read.
I was disappointed in this book. I liked the other two thrillers of hers that I had read so much. But this portrayed the mom's issues in a way that I believe to be inaccurate and leads to harmful misconceptions about certain difficulties. If it weren't for those glaring errors, it would have been a good book.
💛💛💛 I'm really undecided whether I liked this book or not. It relied on the husband being a massive moron to approach the situation as he did and just seemed all far fetched and ridiculous. On the other hand it was fast paced and did keep my interest in how it would all play out.
Easy read and I love a good mystery! But almost too many outrageous twists to make it believable- and i didn‘t like the ending at all- still a fun and short read!
3.5/5⭐️ a bit predictable, but entertaining. I did not like the ending.
Moving on to “The Southern Book Club‘s Guide to Slaying Vampires” and my lunch of homemade mac and cheese😍
Here is another one that I read earlier this month. I enjoyed this book. The tension was definitely there, but it fell just a little bit flat for me at the end. Still a fun read though! Three and a half stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
