I did a thing last month and bought these collectors editions of the Game of Thrones series at Target! On sale for $59.99!
bailedI just couldn‘t get into it. In the beginning I was enjoying it and it definitely was luring me in more than I anticipated but the story became rather monotonous and not very engaging. At moments the author became more verbose than was necessary for the development of the story. 300 pages in and bail. Better luck next time. 😊

I curled up in my fluffy blanket with my hubby and we made it a cozy movie night (long show..). Complete with popcorn, red vines, and noises cardboard contained hard candies. 🥰💛

pickI forgot how little of the plot actually resolves. Dany‘s story moves distinctly from 1 phase to another… by far the most growth & impact on the overall story despite being an ocean away from the other characters.

Dany offers the slaves a place in the khalasar, she appoints Jhogo, Aggo &Rakharo as her blood riders but “it would shame them to ride for a woman” Ser Jorah is 1st of her Queensguard.
They‘ve made a pyre with Drogo‘s possessions to send him to the night lands. Dany adds her dragon eggs. & burns Mirri with him. Dany climbs into the pyre but the fire doesn‘t burn her. When the fire burns out they find Dany with 3 baby dragons & they swear loyalty.
This is a Re-Read for me. Obviously not quite as jaw-dropping after having read the series up to now, and watched the series, but still an astounding work. No tropes left unturned.

Cat, grieving Ned, goes to visit her father who is dying. The Lords strategize to join with Stannis or Renley. Cat calls for a truce, for peace. She still wants her daughters back. But others are focused on vengeance.
Then the Greatjon proclaims that any of those with claims to the throne don‘t have anything to do with the problems of the North & why should they follow any of them. They proclaim Robb The King in the North.
Jon attempt to desert the Wall & go to war alongside Robb to avenge their father. He wonders how he‘ll be received since deserters are usually beheaded, but feels it‘s the right thing to do. His friends come to bring him back, & he goes because he doesn‘t want them punished too. Lord Mormont is not surprised, asks again for his allegiance & says they are going beyond the Wall to find the truth about what is happening on the other side.
Tywin &Tyrion find out Jaime was captured. While arguing of the next steps, Tyrion advises‘ Robb will not concede after what Joffrey has done to Ned, & they lost any bargaining power with his death.
They have news that Renly Baratheon & Highgarden are coming for the crown.
Tywin is sending Tyrion to Kings Landing to reign in Joffrey. It appears he is giving up on Jaime & putting his attention on his other son.
Dany wakes from nightmares,finds Drogo lived &her son did not. Mirri tells her her son was born with lizard scales, changed when she came into the tent. Only death can pay for a life, Mirri hadn‘t meant the horse. The Khalasar is gone. Drogo is alive, but nothing more. Dany confronts Mirri. Mirri says that she saw her god‘s house burned, was raped, her neighbors killed. Dany had saved Mirri in the same way Mirri “saved” Drogo.
pick4✨ This story is narrated in 8 different POVs. It starts out peaceful and calm. We have a bad king, his horrible wife, and a two faced son. Then we have siblings making peace with another nation. Finally we have the Starks where most of our POVs are. This is my second attempt and I‘m so glad I went through it this time with a chapter a day method. So much happens! Sansa is in her room, feeling depressed & betrayed. Joff orders her to attend court with him, Sansa refuses, confronts him, says he promised her mercy for Ned. She asks to go home, is refused. The guards beat her & She has no choice but to attend & act as his betrothed should. After, Joff takes her to the battlements where the heads of the traitors are displayed in warning.. including Ned‘s. & he brags that he‘s saving a spot for Robb.

Bran dreams of his father & goes down to the crypts with the help of Maester Luwin & Osha, they find Rickon & Shaggydog there already, he has had the same dream. They wait with Maester Luwin, who tells them of weapons made from obsidian, the children of The Forest & the First Men. Osha still insist the old races live beyond the Wall.
News of their father comes, confirming their fears.

Mirri (who Dany claimed) comes.Mirri says bloodmagic is the only way. A fight ensues between riders, Dany is attacked. The birthing woman has fled, so Jorah takes her in the tent to Mirri during the ritual
Todays #GOTChapteraDay #ReadingWesteros was with Dany. Drogo is not doing good and everyone tells her that he is dying with no way to save him. The woman she saved and had cared for him said there was one way, but there was a price. I‘m not completely sure what will happen here, but Drogo is not out of the woods, and it looks like the baby is coming while others are looking to take its life. 😰 @5feet.of.fury
In #GOTChapteraDay #ReadingWesteros I was impressed that Jaime Lannister was captured. Out of all the Lannisters I would not have seen him as the one captured. Robb is struggling and this along with when he was in battle causes Catelyn to worry for him. She puts them in place that this was only a battle. They still have a long way to go. @5feet.of.fury
My favorite part of this Tyrion #GOTChapteraDay #ReadingWesteros was even though he hired someone for intimacy he wanted her safe. He didn‘t pretend that she had feelings for him or cared, but their wit with each other was kinda sweet. @5feet.of.fury

Oh man I‘m behind again, but not on reading at least this time. 😅 Jon hurt his hand after battling the zombies and he‘s being broody. The conversation in this chapter about soldiers on the wall not having families was really sad, but stuck the most with me. I hope Jon can be happy though wherever his storyline takes him. Cat worries for Robb. She can‘t get close enough to see the battle but hears the clash of swords, hoofbeats & screams.
Robb returns, safe but shaken. &they have captured Jaime.
From Jaime,Cat requests the return of her father, brother, daughters& husband. He offers only quips.
Robb is mourning the lives lost, while Theon is taking too much pleasure in victory. Cat reminds him there‘s fighting still to come. They‘ve won the battle but not the war.
Tyrion is lamenting an argument with Tywin as he walks through the war camp, Tywin is putting Tyrion & the mountain folk at the front lines.
Bronn brings Tyrion a whore named Shae. Who shows him tenderness.
The Stark host has marched through the night& takes them by surprise. Battle ensues & Lannisters win the day but not without a toll. Then they find that Robb has split his soldiers & made for Riverrun.
Drogo is battling his way to the sea. Dany is justifying the toll as “the price of the Iron Throne” but the death of mothers & children, slavery & rape is too much. Dany “claims” a girl to save her from such harm & then many others.
Drogo is injured & a “claimed” woman offers help heal him, Dany also asks the woman to attend to her imminent birthing.

Poor Ned is being held prisoner and being starved. He is still in a lot of pain from his broken leg when he is visited by the Varys. Jon injured his hand while fighting the deadman, while recovering the stress of the dead &the trouble the Starks face is getting to him. Mormont gifts Jon a sword of Valerian steel which should have been ser Jorah‘s.
Mormont has sent someone to Kings Landing with the dead man‘s hand to get Joff‘s attention.
Maester Aemon has been keeping news from Jon, during their confrontation we find out Aemon is a Targaryen.
Cat is riding w/Robb & the host when they reach Walder Frey‘s area, they discuss where his allegiance may lie, but they must have that crossing. Lannisters have made their attack on Riverrun & her brother Edmure is captured. Cat meets with Lord Frey instead of Robb. He‘s a looney old perv, but Cat finds his price: she is to foster 2 of his young sons in Winterfell, take an older son to make a knight, a marriage for Arya… & for Robb & they cross.
Ned is prisoner without so much as a window to count the passing days. He imagines a conversation with Robert where he criticizes Ned‘s honor, he thinks against of his sister Lyanna & his promise.
Varys comes with wine & news of Arya (who escaped) & Sansa(still betrothed). & he begs Ned to recant & proclaim Joff as the true heir, reminding Ned of the Lannisters bloodthirsty ways.
Joffrey is holding court for the 1st time as king. A decree is read that all named must swear fealty of be considered traitors. Among the names: Stannis Baratheon, Ser Loras, the Tullys & all the Starks in Winterfell incl Arya who Sansa surmises has escaped.
Tywin is named the new Hand, Cersei as Joff‘s council & Jaime as the new commander of the Kingsguard. The Hound is added to the Kingsguard.
Sansa begs for mercy for Ned before Joffrey.
Day 4 Ghost - one of the best direwolves - Ghost. The writers did him dirty on #got but I still love him. Bonus my Mickey ghost pin is attached to my enamel pin display 2 for 1
