This is good for page design ideas or ideas how to tweak a bullet journal but it's nothing without the original site and she acknowledges this. It was good to make me think about how to make my work journal better.

Today, I started my first bullet journal - about books, what else. And I made my dining table into a mess, of course. Time to clean up, take a drink, start a new book, and add it to my journal. It‘s going to be a nice Friday night, I guess. 🍸📚📖

Nute I hope to take up this type of journaling one day. Have fun! 4y

I‘m vaguely interested in bullet journaling... but I can‘t bring myself to watch any of the YouTube tutorials I‘ve found. Honestly, they bore me to tears. 😣 But everyone‘s journals look so pretty & satisfying! Suggestions?

Image credit: Pinterest: Evelyne Park (aka “evydraws”)

LectricSheep What is interesting to you about bullet journaling? Maybe I can make some suggestions for resources if I know a little bit about what you‘re hoping to get out of it! 6y
readherwriteher That‘s the video I watched to get started. My current bujo is just lists. It‘s not set up pretty at all. But my next one I will set up and make it pretty. I like meal planning, making shopping lists, I have a master TBR list, my own TBR (books I own). That video is older you might find something simpler that works better for you. But I liked the way Gretchen set hers up. 6y

monalyisha Thanks @readherwriteher! I‘ll take a look! 6y
Ksheridann I have found a lot of great bullet journaling advice and ideas on Pinterest! I think it is actually quite fun and have really gotten into it :) 6y
monalyisha @LectricSheep I just like the idea of organizing bookish things in an attractive format. Pretty calligraphy, fun doodles, etc. It seems like I wouldn‘t use a lot of it, though. I have, previously, made TBR lists for each month, followed by a list of what I actually ended up reading that month. The bookshelf thing, where you fill in titles & color in books as you go, is kind of interesting. Other than that, I‘m not sure what I‘d use it for! 🤷‍♀️ (edited) 6y
LectricSheep Oh I see! So you would definitely have a bookish bullet journal! Very cool. You could consider it as more of a “collections” journal than a bullet journal, if you wanted to take the pressure off of yourself to do daily/weekly planning— although, are you interested in daily/weekly tracking? I did a daily “genre mandala” for a while color coding each day‘s ring by the genre I read the most of, and that turned out beautifully. 6y
monalyisha @LectricSheep I think you‘re right. I think what I really want is just a doodle-filled journal of my own invention. Bullet journaling *might* be contrary to my very nature. 😅 I‘ll probably just wing it. 😉 Thanks for your help! (P.S. that mandala sounds lovely!) 6y
Kaylamburson This book has a lot of great tips and shows you all the different ways you can make it work for you! There is also a set with this book and a blank dot journal. 6y
LectricSheep The main thing about bullet journaling is just to have fun with it, so you should only do what makes you happy. 😀 I think bookish doodles sound awesome— you should post whatever you make to Litsy, if you want. I love stuff like that! 6y
FantasyChick I just make it up as I go lol. I would love it for my #bujo to be as pretty as some of the ones I've seen, but if I know me the way I think I do...the more work I put into making it "pretty", the less interest in it I will have. Ugly and functional works great! Lol 6y
802Librarian @monalyisha Sounds like a commonplace book is more fitting for what you want. It‘s just a book of randomness: lists, doodles, quotes, etc. Interesting history on them if you Google it. 6y
monalyisha @NHLibrarian I like the sound of that! 6y

#BulletJournal Day 1.
Decided to finally start one. I won't be using it to track activities and such cause I already have a lovely planner (we'll see next year). But to keep track of books, music, logos, quotes, challenges...
I don't have any of the suggested tools (too expensive) but I'm happy with the result.
Just like coloring, it's a great relaxing activity to do while listening to audiobooks.
Any #bujo ideas are welcome❕❕❕

LiteraryinLawrence This is beautiful! 6y

Decided to jump on the #bulletjournal bandwagon after my unsuccessful attempts to find a perfect planner for 2018. Practicing on this little notebook until my hardcover one comes in. This is so therapeutic! Trying to think of all kinds of good habits I‘d like to track.

Smangela Yes! So addicting, right? It looks beautiful! 6y
JazzFeathers True, eh? The #bulletjournal demands a lot of time and care, but it's so relaxing and therapeutic 😊 6y
PandaPanda I use the exact same layout for my future log and I love it! 6y

EvieBee @JazzFeathers Definitely! I hope I can find a little time each day to keep it up. 6y
EvieBee @PandaPanda I‘m so glad to hear that! It seemed like the layout that my brain could easily identify with. 6y
EvieBee @HippieChickHomeschool Thank you so much! 🤗♥️ 6y
EvieBee @readsusieread Thank you, Susie! I ordered the Leuchttrum1917 journal in berry. I can‘t wait to get it. 6y
EvieBee @laundry_piles I never imagined I‘d start one, but it makes sense when you‘re looking for specific things in a planner! 6y
EvieBee @JamieArc Thank you, Jaime! I know it‘ll be a good time. 🤓🤗 6y
readsusieread @EvieBee I've had that one! It's lovely. What kind of paper did you go with? I love the squared but the dot grid is so popular! 6y
EvieBee @readsusieread I got the dots but am loving the grids in this little notebook! Might order that one next in yellow! 🤓🤗 6y
BellaBookNook Yay! I just started one too inspired by my recent read - Dot Journaling. I cringe at my handwriting but trying to let go of that so I can actually see a journal through for the year. 6y
EvieBee @BellaBookNook That‘s my goal, too! I need to finish a year out with one. I‘m too much of a perfectionist. 6y
BellaBookNook @EvieBee Exactly!!🤓👭 6y

Smangela Your calligraphy is beautiful! Did you take a class? Use special pencils? 6y
HelloImJez @Smangela Thanks sweet! I actually just used this book and bought a couple of the items it recommended and went from there! Then I went on to buy some relatively cheap coloured brush pens (MozArt, Artline). I also try to copy calligraphy I see online. Once you get used to brush pens you can pretty much do it all! 6y

Ok, it's not quite bullet journaling, and there will never, ever, be any artwork, but I am taking my list making and reading challenge tracking to a different level. Still trying to figure out if I should squeeze my spread into single page or use a double. Also wondering if I have remembered all my challenges. 🤔 (Obviously, with this many challenges I should be reading, not pondering journal layouts. 😆)

julesG Oh,I like that. 6y
Smangela I did this last year but I love the idea of making a key for it! I just made them up as I went along, but oh I love consistency 😍 great idea - I‘m gonna borrow your idea haha 6y
merelybookish Do you usually do this many challenges? 6y
See All 9 Comments
Leniverse @merelybookish Many of these are ongoing over several years (my progress on them extra slow because I prioritise challenges with a time limit). I also frequently use the same book for more than one challenge, e.g. Don Quixote will be 1001, LCB, and Around the World. 6y
Leniverse @Smangela @julesG I thought about not listing a key because it's my list so I'll know what it means! 😂 But then I had to use that first page for something, so why not. Helps me make sure I keep track and don't change my symbols half way through the year. 6y
Smangela @Leniverse i do not trust myself haha I am certain I‘d do a symbol and then forget 🤦🏻‍♀️ 6y
Andrew65 Looking good! 6y
merelybookish @Leniverse it's impressive nonetheless! 🙂 6y
Leniverse @merelybookish Thanks! It keeps my reading varied. I've ended up with a lot of great books I wouldn't otherwise have looked at. But it also keeps me tied to the challenges with little or no time for joining buddy reads etc that crop up during the year. Every year I mean to cut back but end up doing the opposite. 😜 6y

I‘m extending the fall feeling in my #bujo for one more week. I always feel like we get cheated out of fall in Louisiana ... right when it starts to get autumnal outside, we are ushering in Christmas. I‘m like, “Wait! Fall just got here!” Sigh, so let‘s hold on to the oranges, and yellows, and browns a little longer before red and green take over.. #weeklyspread #bujolover #weeklylayout #washi #bulletjournal

SandyW I can relate.. No real sense of autumn here in SoCal. 6y
BookMaven407 I just ordered this journal on Amazon. I think it will help me stay on task for the new year, or at least I hope it will. 🙂 6y
brookerhi @BookMaven407 My bullet journal definitely has helped me! Just in being more aware of my habits & such. I‘m so glad that I kept it up for a year! 6y

TricksyTails I don't want Autumn to go! My favorite season. ♥️🍁🍂 Have you found a good source for washi tape? It's hard to sort through for the quality ones on Amazon. Some hardly stick. Favorite pens that don't bleed? 6y
brookerhi @TricksyTails I get most of my washi from Michaels, but I have bought off Amazon when I am looking for a specific pattern. That fall one is off Amazon! I usually just read the reviews & see if people had trouble - haven‘t run into a problem yet! Knock on wood. I write with regular ol Sharpie PENS, and I also use the Staedtler multi-color set for coloring in things. 6y
TricksyTails Thanks for the rec's! I have to order all my supplies online so it's hard to gauge what's good. I'll see if Michael's has them online. Thanks! 6y
brookerhi @TricksyTails I have definitely bought from Michaels online! The Recollections washi. 6y

Natasha.C.Barnes @Librariana Haha, omg no I am wholesale ripping off some of your spreads but it's really helping me get a jump start and not get too caught up in designing pages at the start, which would prevent me from actually doing it! 😆 Besides, you've clearly put a lot of thought into how to make this work for reading in particular and that is research I'm totally going to take advantage of. ❤️ 7y
Sace These are beautiful! I might be doing some wholesale stealing too! 7y
Natasha.C.Barnes @RestlessFickleBookSlut Well you know I support it! 😆 7y
Sace My bujo is probably lame by pinterest standards but it makes me happy. 7y
Natasha.C.Barnes @RestlessFickleBookSlut That's all it needs to do! Mine only looks like this because I got into a major procrastination spiral this week and I've taken it all out on Litsy. But that's really not sustainable... 😭 But bujo wise, it's not like I'm making new pages for the day or week or anything --the bookish version is so much more low key than doing my whole life! 7y
Sace @Natasha.C.Barnes I just do two pages per month. Just an empty page for jotting thoughts and a page for keeping up with the books I read for the month. 7y
minkyb Nice! Looks like fun. 7y
erzascarletbookgasm Wow, impressive! Such dedication:) 7y

Here is my "bookish bullet journal" monthly log with my reading goals, TBR, and other important bookish dates and events coming up for the month of August.
.
Since I didn't get to finish two titles during the #booktubeathon, I really want to make sure I stop putting them off and get them read.
.
Is anyone else participating in any of these readathons? Anyone else looking forward to any new releases?
