#1 New York Times bestselling author Arthur Haileys suspense-charged novel presents a terrifying question: What happens when a terrorist attack shuts down the power in Americas largest state? In the middle of a sweltering July heat wave that has no end in sight, Californias Golden State Power and Light is on overload. An emergency brownout is already in effect. Then, GSP&Ls newest and largest generator explodes. With four people dead and a widespread loss of power, a fringe group takes responsibility. But for GSP&L vice president Nim Goldman and his family; his adversary, investigative reporter Nancy Molineaux; detective Harry London; and beautiful quadriplegic Karen Sloan, whose every breath depends on electric power, the terror is just beginning . . . A dramatic and timely story of the people and the events leading to a crisis, Overload presents a fascinating view of the little-known world of electric power production that is vital to contemporary life.

I realize I may have overdone my Kindle Deals in December as I finally looked & found I purchased 22 e-books. Yikes! On the plus side using a combination of deals, a $10 gift card, individual book credits, the “spend $20 & get a $5 credit & one free Kindle First title, I spent a total of $44.51 which means this lot cost me $2.02 per book. Not bad considering all of the great books, new books & best sellers & #blameitonlitsy books. 📚📚📚😬📚📚📚📚

JacqMac There were so many good deals in December. I bought 23. lol 4y
DebinHawaii @JacqMac Hah! I feel better now! 🤣 4y
Hooked_on_books On the up side, you‘ve got a lot of great books there! 4y
rubyslippersreads How could you pass up a deal like that? 😸 4y

This is my entire London haul, plus some books I brought with me. I have issues.

Kalalalatja It still better to have issues and a lot of books, than no issues and no books 😂 5y
TrishB @Kalalalatja 😂😂😂 5y
HardcoverHearts I see nothing wrong with any of this! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 5y

When you have 98 books out from the library with 5 different return dates.... all you can do is highlight. 😂😂😂😂 I will not be paying late fees!

Yes these are all for the #throwbackreadathon and the #LetsGetGraphicWeeklongMarathon 😂😂😂

Char Dang our library doesn't even allow 10 to be out at a time 6y
kamoorephoto Ours is unlimited too! 6y

MiyakoBunny Unlimited soooo lucky 🍀 😍 6y
alvingregorio I'd lose so many books if I was allowed to take out an unlimited number! 6y
rockpools Wow! I threw a minor party last week when I discovered I could borrow 12 (though it was 8). That's amazing! 6y
JennyM My library is so wonderful ...we don‘t have late fees! 😲 6y
Notafraidofwords @JennyM 😮and people return things? 6y
JennyM @Notafraidofwords they do! It‘s pretty cool. 6y
Godmotherx5 Holy cannoli! 6y
Clwojick @JennyM ahahah! We don't have limits, but we have a $0.50 per book per day late fee. With 98 books out, I take it quite seriously. Lol. $49 a day potentially 😂😂😂 (edited) 6y
xicanti That's intense! My library has a 50-item limit, not including digital stuff. 6y
minkyb That is an impressive number. 6y
MommyOfTwo Wow! I‘d never be able to keep track of all of those!! 6y
Q84 I used to do the same thing. We moved, now we have a 50 limit that includes digital checkouts as well. Ugh. This one also doesn't let you place holds unless it's checked out already :( It means I can't just swing in to pick up. 6y
DivaDiane Holy bookstacks, Batman! 6y

melbeautyandbooks This made me laugh out loud a lot. (edited) 7y
ferskner ALL the Louise Penny! 7y
Texreader A fast feel-good read, and a darned good book to boot! 7y

Well-ReadNeck @melbeautyandbooks Yes! Enjoyed that one! Any other similar suggestions? @Texreader Thanks!!! I wouldn't have picked that one up on my own (too quick to judge a book by its cover) 7y
Texreader @Well-ReadNeck I didn't expect to like it. Way outside my list of genres. Now I've added a new genre to my list! 7y
melbeautyandbooks @Well-ReadNeck - Unfortunately I don't have any others like that. I did read this recently and I really liked it. It's a book within a book with many mysteries. It's not cozy and it's not really dark and grisly. 7y
Sue The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue and Not Your Sidekick helped me kick my reading slump last week. 7y
Dragon I really enjoyed 7y
Suet624 Any Jenny Lawson book. 7y
Ashley_Morgan And for funny this whole series is great! 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto Helped pulled me out of a slump the last time I felt like that. 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto Also, this one is delightful and funny while also extremely interesting. I knew nothing about her life prior to listening to the audiobook - which she narrated - and it's so jaw dropping. As in her dad is from Africa, believes in being a good Muslim husband, and takes multiple wives some of which might be his cousins. 7y
Well-ReadNeck @melbeautyandbooks oooooh! That sounds good. And, it's in my library! @Sue Yasss! Both of those sound like great slump-busters. Thanks!! 7y
Well-ReadNeck @Dragon Thanks! Based on the blurbs, I can't believe this hasn't been on my radar before! 7y
Nuwanda I'll second @Suet624 with Jenny Lawson! I would also recommend graphic novels if you're into those because they don't take long to read but you can feel like you're back in the groove with finishing something. I'm in a similar place myself and am just reading a ton of sample on my Kindle right now! 7y
Well-ReadNeck @Nuwanda Great minds... I've been loading up on graphic books on netgalley lately. 7y
AmyG I just read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Easy read, a few twists and turns. A good summer book. 7y
Amandajoy I read A Kiss at Midnight last weekend & it helped me deal with the media overload! 7y
CuriousG Loved it, if you haven't already read it 7y
CuriousG A slightly darker, yet hilarious one would be... 7y
Lmstraubie I just finished this and it's what you described. 7y
