“dead souls dream only of death. small dreams for small men. it is life that expands to fill worlds. life is your master, or death is.“
All set for the weekend! 😬 I hope this book is better than the first one! Any fans?
perfect timing, just finished smoke & bone last night and this one comes in the mail today 🖤 curious to see if it picks up where we left off. I might have to take a break and read something else before i start this one tho, just so i can savor and hold on to the last book for a little bit longer :)
Ever want to read anything other than what you already have and just randomly start searching whatever Libby has available?
I have no idea how I'm going to find time to read these, or if I'm even going to want to, but at least I have options 😂
*note: these aren't even close to all my library reads. I'm so screwed 😂😂😂
Eh I miss scenes like this in the first book
I had more trouble with this book than the first. I also may have had issues with the way Karou was described from Akiva's POV at most times. However Akiva, Liraz and Hazael were the highlight of this part of the trilogy for me. They nearly made me cry. Now onto the next and final one!
I liked this book. I feel like I should have read this book sooner than I did because I see would have remembered the plot of the story better. I am debating whether to read the last and third book.
This book is a chunker but it was really good and so much more action packed then the first within the first couple of chapters there were big action scenes and surprises I am really getting into this series now and am on to the third book I am crossing my fingers for a good strong wrap up.
After his betrayal, Akiva and Karou are back where they started—on opposite sides of the brutal war between angels and demons. With her family dead, Karou has few choices left. Devastated, she joins forces with the remaining chimaera soldiers to create an army that can stand against the seraphim. Akiva, returns to the seraphim, but does a lot of soul-searching about the futility of the cycle of violence and vengeance.
A gut punch. TW: rape
I finally finished!!! It was so good. It took@me quite awhile to finish this book because life happened but that didn‘t stop me from constantly thinking about it, wondering when I could get back to Karou and Akiva.
A war is coming and Karou must decide what she is going to do after finding out the truth regarding her and Akiva. I loved the action and the small love story that shows between Karou and Akiva.
On to book 2!
I‘m actually loving this series—and it‘s YA!! Sure, the young people are the only ones who have any sense and are going to save the world, but it‘s still quite enjoyable. The world-building is pretty complex and the characters can be quite sassy! Taylor‘s writing is strong and her description is lovely. I highly recommend this series and I can‘t wait to start the next one!
Whoooaa My Gosh!
I love the worlds that Taylor creates! I get sucked into each book and so attached to each character it leaves me hung over with it's ending. She gives such beautiful description without overwhelming the reader and slowing the pace of the story. I can't wait to see what fate she has assigned each character, especially Ziri.
I've read Frankenstein too many times to count. The adult version and the abridged version to my 3 year old last year. I never considered this aspect. I always read the story from the perspective of man always playing God. I guess it's time for a reread. Maybe I missed the mark all together.
This is the second book in The Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. It did not disappoint. With strong themes of atonement and remorse, it didn't read as YA to me.
This one is darker than the first. The characters are weary, many are unsure what they are fighting for.... And things just seen to go from bad to worse.
Thanks to @PenguinInFlight for turning me on to this story.
It's finally the weekend! It felt long this week but we managed to struggle in to the end. Happy Friday, Littens 💃💃💃
Stumbled upon this gem of a trilogy a couple of weeks ago. Read book one and waited, patiently, for Book 2 from the library. So far, so good.
#bookandwinepairing 📚 🍷 2016 Il Conte Pinot Grigio. My recipe called for a white wine tonight so this was it. This is a very enjoyable easy drinking wine. Dinner was delish too!
