I chose to end my night last night finishing this audiobook. Our new bedroom ♥️
I enjoyed this book again in terms of characters just as much as the first. The plot was a little less intriguing to me. But glittered up vamps 🤣☠️ also really loved the way they deal with CONSENT.
I'm definitely going in for the third!

Welp, finally got a line! #BookSpinBingo I've pretty much abandoned my hopes of getting more than last time, but I should manage two lines, and probably three. I still need to read The Grief of Stones, so... to be honest, I might still manage four. 😅

It was nice to reread Dreadful Company, but I think this trilogy needs to wait a while before I can reread it again, lest it run out of magic.

Anxiety's bad, and this book is Dreadful Company.

...Yes, I know, that joke was bad and this book is actually great company. Okay, Greta's in a bit of trouble right now, but having read it before, even that's quite fun and familiar.

The 2nd of the Dr. Greta Helsing books didn‘t disappoint. There were a few issues with narration that I found a tad annoying; a slight echo like it was recorded in a bathroom & they changed the pronunciation of a character‘s name from the 1st book. I got used to those though, & I still liked the narrator. The solution seems too easy to me, like the antagonist could‘ve given one final push. But I enjoyed the story & these characters once again.

My next listen is book two of this trilogy, and I‘m excited about it. If it goes well, I‘ll be getting book three with my next Audible credit.

I really liked the 1st book in this series about a Doctor who treats the supernatural citizens of London. In this book Dr Helsing is in Paris at a conference when trapped in the catacombs with a horde of hungry vampires. #TeamSlaughter

This is between a pick and a so-so. I think the audio made it seem slow and boring in the middle. I liked how there just are monsters in this story and it‘s perfectly normal. It‘s been a while since I read the first in the series, but it didn‘t really matter. The next one actually sounds really good. So I‘m excited to pick up that one, probably not on audio.

I'm really enjoying this series, reminds me a bit of the Jackaby books but a little less nonsense. And for some reason, these covers really speak to me. ;)

Even better than the first book in the series. Young vampire coven causes havoc in Paris. I do have to dock it for using the word Frisson though.

This series just makes me happy. This is book two and I absolutely adore the way all of my years of fall RIP reading have paid off! When I immediately recognized MR James‘ whistle-monster when it appeared in this story, I felt like a genius. Plus, references to 80‘s music and Monty Python with amazing messages of internal strength and found family? I love it all.

Reread complete! Still in love with all of it. Still adore Greta calling Corvin an edgelord.

The gang is back and this time they're in Paris. Greta is dragged into some major issues, and it's up to the group and a few newcomers to fix the problems and save the world.

This is the 2nd in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed it. As I said for the 1st in the series, it would be a great beach read. I actually read it on the metro & I'm sure the people next to me thought I was insane because i kept giggling. I'm absolutely looking forward to the 3rd in the series. 👍

Another declaration of love for this book and series! Apart from a wonderful mix of supernatural entities what I love most about this book is the relationship between the characters. There is such fierce love and acceptance, it is like a tonic when there is so much hate in the real world! Time whizzes by when reading this and it‘s hard to put down, the sign of a good book! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

After attending a medical magical conference, Dr Greta Helsing stumbles upon a plot for revenge and an accidental ending of the world.

I liked this one more than 1. We explore Paris and more creatures, meet new characters (Parisian lesbian vampires!), and some momentum in a truly slow burn romance.

The characters that affect the plot are still largely & disappointingly weighted towards male in numbers, so I hope that changes in 3. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

I read this between May 7 & 11; and gave it 5 ⭐️on Good Reads. I think I liked this book more than the first one. I really enjoy the character of Dr Helsing. I am really looking forward to the 3rd book in the series. One of the few times that I was super glad that I bought the first and second book in a series at the same time.

Minnesota's auditioning to be the North Pole, I think. 🤔🎅🏼

Taking a break from reading to work on my tropical Samen shawl. Between 8-10 inches of snow dumped on us and minus 18 being the high temp predicted for Wednesday, I'm dreaming of warmer places and tropical drinks. 🍹🏖✈️

I added a bunch of YA releases to my hold list earlier this month, when I caught they were being ordered and they're starting to come in now. And of course, now doing the round of sequels for what I finished last week. 🎉 The library rocks! 📚

Because I'm bored at work, I am creeping on some of my favorite authors. I'm greatly looking forward to the third book in this series (being released this summer hopefully). In the meantime, I've been reading her recaps on 'Varney the Vampire'. Shaw's recaps and explanations are hilarious so if you'd like a giggle head over to her page! The Fuzz does her best creepy, lurking vampire impersonation.

#BookMail Pt14 This is the 2nd book in the “Greta Halsing MD” series about Dr Halsing & her clinic, looking after the Vampires, werewolves, ghouls & gargoyles of London, no monster is too big or small. In this book, she travels to Paris for a conference on zombie medicine but is waylaid by the wild vampire coven living in the catacombs. I won the 1st book in the #24in48readathon & loved it. Had no clue about this one till it popped up on Audible.

I love this series. Greta Helsing is doctor to all the things that go bump in the night. In book 1 we got introduced to a wonderful new underworld of London. For book 2 we jump to Paris where reality is being ripped apart, a nest of vampires is causing havoc, and Greta finds herself in the middle of it all. Add in the Gothic feels of the Palais Garnier and the Parisian catacombs and you have yourself an awesome story. If you like UF, pick this up.

Second instalment of what's becoming a favourite contemporary fantasy series of mine. Definitely for fans of Ben Aarronovitch's series , funny , spooky and with a good strong heart to the whole business

I LOVE THESE BOOKS SO MUCH. Greata makes me happy, the prose makes me happy, Varney makes me happy, the plot makes me happy. I press strange practice into the hands of anyone I can, and the sequel was just as good. 💖💖💖💖💖

At the end of a very busy, no good day, I've started my birthday book with this adorable new bookmark 💕💕 Even the first few pages feel like a sigh of relief.

Catching up on Litsy after some busy days! Moving is going okay -- I found us a flat and signed the contract with the landlord. Wish us luck!

Anyway, this book made for very good downtime. I think on the whole I prefer the first book, but I do so adore Greta and i kinda love the whistler and the wellmonsters.

(Thinking about it, maybe she's what I'd have called in my fanfic days a Mary Sue -- she's too capable, likeable, moral, etc? Not for me.)

Okay I have no further comments than zomg Greta!! 💙💙 She says screw being a damsel in distress and I love it.

Lifehack: use a suitcase as a portable bookshelf! In the process of moving and integrating the two halves of my book collection. No space right now on shelves, so, tada!

Dreadful Company is the sequel to Strange Practice and I liked it as much or more than the first. It's a fun book, even though not so funny things happen, probably because the main characters are so likeable. It takes place in Paris instead of London, which means we don't see Greta's practice, but it has the cutest kinds of monsters you could imagine. I can't wait for part three!
It fills the sequel slot in the #SFFTBRChallenge (five books down).

Greta Helsing is just as clever and lovely in this sequel, set in Paris instead of London this time. I flat out love this series—the characters are smart and caring and it‘s urban fantasy, yes, but also full of medicine and science and history and folklore. Just great.

I am not reading much because my brain is being a git and thinking I should work constantly, but I have got a chunk into this. 💙💙💙 Greta.
