Such a lovely Mother‘s Day today! These were gifts from my fam. The top one is an acoustic remake of many of their songs with an orchestra and is gorgeous. Maybe better than original songs. The second was recorded before Dolores O‘Riordan died so I‘ll have to listen to it in private. Sob.
It‘s time for a Cranberries retrospective this weekend.
I‘m sad to hear the news of the sudden death of The Cranberries lead singer, Dolores O'Riordan. I grew up listening to their songs and there was a phase in my youth when I would listen to nothing else but Irish bands/singers and folk singers. 🤷♀️ My favourites include The Cranberries (of course), Sinead O‘Connor, U2, Van Morrison and Mary Black (folk singer). The tagged book is a biography of the band.
My sister shared the news with me early this afternoon and I was saddened to hear of the lead singer's passing.
Although I was never a devoted fan, I do remember how some of the band's songs marked certain periods of my life. I even remember a scene in the movie Clueless where a student HAD to go get his Cranberries CD before somebody snagged it.
My husband and I have been listening to the album above and reminiscing... feeling nostalgic.
💙😔
I was at lunch when a friend texted me with the sad news that Dolores O‘Riordan has died at 46. Her voice was a big one when I was a teenager in the 90s. “Dreams” & “Linger” remain the most memorable for me.
