I loved her book about Jane Austen - hoping this one is just as good!

It's taken me a really long time to finish this, but that is 100% about me and not the book. Which is Worsley's typically chatty and readable take on a really fascinating subject. I learned a ton about Victoria, her life, and the people in it.
Another fantastic glimpse into history and the lives of fascinating characters from the phenomenal historian, Lucy Worsley. I just love how she delves deep and comments on such random, interesting minutiae of the life of Queen Victoria. It really brings it to life. I will miss reading this book!
Very good. Lucy Worsley's charm and wit makes this book a wonderful read because her knowledge of the subject is interspersed with little asides that make you laugh. It feels like she is talking to you rather than you reading it. Also it is done through specific dates rather than a full on biography which makes it easier to read.

You know when you get to a certain age in life when everything they taught you in school is revealed as a lie. I‘m there. The Victoria/Albert love thing, nope. She loved him, he was a bit of a nasty shi*.
Great read, learned a lot. Didn‘t really like Victoria and the arrogant, superiority complex that underpinned the British Empire makes me cringe. I know we have to read things of the time, but it‘s still horrible.
Well I wasn‘t expecting that about the young Victoria 😁
Lucy Worsley creates an interesting picture of Victoria in the book, taking a look at important events that took place over 24 days of the Queen‘s life.

As others have stated, I‘m not sure who has been and who has not been tagged to do this challenge at this point. If you have not, please feel free to join in on the fun! Post 7 book covers over 7 days that you love, with no explanation.
Thoroughly enjoying learning about Victoria, in a clear and entertaining way
I adore Lucy Worsley, and her latest biography on Queen Victoria did not disappoint. Worsley examines 24 monumental days in the life of Victoria, detailing circumstances leading up to the day and giving overall incite into the British monarchy and society at that time. It‘s fun, it‘s informative, and she doesn‘t paint a very flattering picture of Albert (I agree with her thoughts on the subject). A definite pick!
It‘s been a long week, and I just realized it‘s Queen Victoria‘s 200th birthday today. So, at nearly 9pm on the US East Coast, I‘m going to crack open Worsley‘s biography of the queen. It seems only appropriate that I read even a small amount today.
Listened to 5 episodes of this BBC radio programme while walking. As I texted and checked Litsy in between I only got 32 active minutes, but I was walking for a good hour.

Works outside the UK, too.
It‘s a long weekend here in Canada! ??
Happy Victoria Day (and Journée Nationale des Patriotes)!
The tornado sirens are going off (for literally no reason I might add) so the kiddo, the dog, and myself are hanging out in the basement for a bit! I took this right when Aiden saw a bug 😂.
10 part mini series on BBC sounds website. You will have to register to listen but it's free and if you get the app you can download and listen offline. All episodes are now available. Not sure how it will work outside of the UK.
I am currently on Episode 6 and it is so good.

New series of Victoria tonight 9pm on ITV !!!
I didn‘t know much about Queen Victoria and this was a good way to get some information without being bored to tears with a long, dry biography. Worsley takes 24 days in Victoria‘s life and spins them in a way to provide background information and other relevant details about QV‘s life and reign. I was surprised to read how deep QV‘s affections and loyalty ran for Prince Albert, at the expense of her children. #netgalley
This rarely happens, but I finished all three of my current reads within the past hour: audiobook, ebook, and physical book. And all are 4 star reads!
An interesting approach to Victoria's life that makes this book a good introduction: it hits all the high points and is written well. Good selection of photos, too.
One American journalist...decided instead simply to imagine what went on at Christmas at Windsor. He gives Albert the (unconvincing) speech, "Mother, we must have a first-class shindy for the children," to which Victoria (somewhat implausibly) responds: "Albert, we will just make things whoop."
???
This months #SubjectOfTheMonth is #VictorianEngland I am loving both of these books. @Tove_Reads These are two authors that always make me happy.
Love this era and love this author. An absolute win win

Listened to this as an audiobook. Super narrator and an engaging story.
The little stack I‘m carrying from room to room today. I still need to download an audiobook. I‘m about to see what the library has available today.
