Indie Bookstore Day prep starts now. Who else is excited for Saturday? https://youtu.be/dFTF9z8ajd4
What I refuse to believe is anything less than a Robin Hood Men in Tights reference AND an Old Spice reference on the same page in an exploration of toxic masculinity.
Continuing on my Georgian romance kick, i do like Tessa Dare‘s books. This one was a fun one.
And now onto a new romance author, Elizabeth Hoyt.
Maybe the Bridgertons should come with a warning: reading or watching this series can cause a reader to slip down the Georgian romance slope.”
Book 5 for #FabulousFebruary
Not my favorite, but it was fine. I liked Susanna well enough at the start, but Bram didn't strike me as likable until far later. This made it hard to buy that there was genuine affection between them & not just lust & infatuation. It wasn't until nearly 2/3 into the book, when they start working together, that I felt like I cared. However the other characters were interesting & I'd read about them, so hopefully they feature in future books!
I loved this book so much. I know that at some point I will be re-reading this one. It has some of the best dialogue ever. The relationship build up is perfect. For trope fans it has one of my faves, forced proximity and a bit of the ol‘ enemies to lovers.
4🌟I am at this point going out on a limb and Saying I am tjis authors bitch.
Spindle Cove on England's South coast is Susanna Finch's personal haven of utopia, but it's set to be taken over by English Militia men at the command of Victor Bramwell & the two are set to be at loggerheads for dominance of the village. It's going to be a lot of happily ever afters here.
I love the concept of Spindle Cove - a retreat for women who don‘t fit in to society for one reason or another. Susannah is a great heroine, smart and feisty and caring with a sad past. Bram is broken and bull-headed and great. I love the development of the secondary characters and of Spindle Cove itself. Can‘t wait to read the rest of the series!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼1/2
When Susanna cocked her pistol, the others followed suit. The chorus of clicks raced down Bram‘s spine.
“I find this scene wildly arousing,” Colin murmured, echoing Bram‘s own thoughts. “Is that wrong?”
“If it is, I can promise you company in hell.”
His cousin made an amused sound. “And you thought we have nothing in common.”
Susanna leveled her pistol and took aim. “One... Two...”
Crack.”
― Tessa Dare, A Night to Surrender
Loved it. It hit all the things I like in a romance and the writing didn't take me out of the story. Definitely moving on to the next in this series.
Heard so much praise for this series but finding it rough going. Maybe Dare just isn‘t my cup of 🍵 If the style isn‘t distinctive, even an interesting innovation of the standard romance plot doesn‘t keep my interest 🤷🏽♀️
This was absolutely just super fantastic. Ms. Dare has quietly risen to the height of my esteem as an writer of modern women in the regency era. Her Spindle Cove spinsters were perfect to spend my Sunday with, audiocrafting. Anyone who likes regency romance needs Ms. Dare on their list!!
Audiocrafting! Got some amazing fabric on Memorial Day sale at Joann's and am making all the needleminders I can handle. I'm going to reopen my Etsy shop and finish the first Spindle Cove book. Good day 💕❤
We went to the cabin this weekend so I'm reading for #25inFive while my husband watches The Masters. About an hour left in the tagged book.

So I just started this #series today. Of course now I want to learn Portuguese so I can have these covers 💗 💕💗

While this book is a pick and I will definitely read the next one, it wasn't without problems. The hero spends about a quarter of the book trying to prove he's smarter/stronger/better than the heroine which is irritating but I liked the heroine and her reactions enough to enjoy the book. #romantsy
Let me first say that Tessa Dare is one of my absolute favorite romance authors. However, I didn't love this book as I have loved so many of her others. While this is a cute read, it seems to be lacking in her usual witty dialogue and humorous story elements. Perhaps after reading the Castles Ever After series, I've just developed unreasonably high expectations of all Tessa Dare novels!
Still feeling super yucky. Still have a ton of work-work to do. But apparently it wasn't a break from romance novels that I needed - just a break from those not written by Tessa Dare. Loving this one (yes, I am reading the series out of order - it's killing me, but it just happened). Maybe just another 30 minutes, then I'll go sit at my desk and do real work...

This wavered between a pick and a so-so for me. I'll give it an extra half star for being the first book I've read since my reading slump happened. The MC is independent and intelligent which I liked, but overall I had a hard time connecting to the characters. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I've got an hour to kill before I have to run some errands and meet a friend for dinner. Will be happily spending my time with this sweet book!

I literally can't pick a #faveLitten. I love you all. Knowing that this book nerd is not alone in this world has helped me tremendously. Each of y'all bring something special to this experience, and my world has been opened up....big time! I don't know what I'd do without y'all! ❤📚❤📚❤#seasonsreadings2016 (Sorry this is posted a day early. I will not be home tomorrow!)
My first Tessa Dare while I wind yarn. Eggnog on hand, too. Perfect night.
Honestly, I didn't love it. I didn't really connect with the MCs on a personal level, and that kind of left me at loose ends. I do think I'll enjoy several of the other books in this series, so I'm glad I pushed through.
It's been a wretched day, a wretched week, and I'm having pizza and a book for dinner. Zero f*cks given tonight. #27smartpoints #yolo
Tonight's #photoadaynov16 #chillyreads is brought to you by Tessa Dare, the Christmas tree, Angel, and my husband's ninja turtle snuggie. 😂🎄🐢🐱
All three of us (including Pea in the chair behind my foot) are having a lazy afternoon. It's been raining all day, I'm finishing a quick load of laundry and watching Logan's Run for the first time, plus reading this surprisingly feminist romance novel. Yay for lazy weekdays!
Re-reading the Spindle Cove series with my mom and remembering the sheer brilliance of Tessa Dare all over again. #romantsy
Y'all please tell me you've read Tessa Dare. She's so great!! Feminist friendly romance with headstrong heroines and fun banter, which is a must for me. I can't do melodramatic romance; I want a fun escape. This is the first in her Spindle Cove series and she's teed up some secondary characters that I can't wait to read about in the rest of the series! #romance #romantsy

So I just found out that Tessa Dare used to be a librarian in my library system. What?!?! Now I guess I have to read one of her books.
