Finnish Way: Finding Courage, Wellness, and Happiness Through the Power of Sisu
Finnish Way: Finding Courage, Wellness, and Happiness Through the Power of Sisu | Katja Pantzar
An engaging and practical guided tour of the simple and nature-inspired ways that Finns stay happy and healthy--including the powerful concept of sisu, or everyday courage Forget hygge--it's time to blow out the candles and get out into the world! Journalist Katja Pantzar did just that, taking the huge leap to move to the remote Nordic country of Finland. What she discovered there transformed her body, mind and spirit. In this engaging and practical guide, she shows readers how to embrace the "keep it simple and sensible" daily practices that make Finns one of the happiest populations in the world, year after year. Topics include: * Movement as medicine How walking, biking and swimming every day are good for what ails us--and best done outside the confines of a gym * Forest therapy Why there's no substitute for getting out into nature on a regular basis * Healthy eating What the Nordic diet can teach us all about feeding body, mind and soul * The gift of sisu Why Finns embrace a special form of courage, grit and determination as a national virtue - and how anyone can dig deeper to survive and thrive through tough times. If you've ever wondered if there's a better, simpler way to find happiness and good heath, look no further. The Finns have a word for that, and this empowering book shows us how to achieve it.

So pleased that Katja Pantzar has written an essay for our photography collectives new book! Nervous to share this with the world - especially with our cover ( knowing how opinionated I can be on book covers - creating your own is super hard!!). Let me know what you think …https://www.map6.co.uk/shop/finland-the-happiness-project-book-and-archival-print

Oryx Looks beautiful! 2y

Oryx We're off to Finland this year - I'm so looking forward to it (Svalbard booked for 2023...). Let me of any tips (e.g. food to try) 2y

Mitch @Oryx wow - love Finland. The landscape is amazing. 2y
Oryx @Mitch I'm very excited - plan is a few days in Helsinki and then train up to kajaani - then staying about an hour away from kajaani, where hopefully we'll see (with a guide) wolverines/bears. 2y
Nute Trees make me happy! And seeing the color green. It‘s a very nice cover. Congratulations on the final outcome of the project!🤗 The included print image for the preorders is lovely. 2y
Mitch @Nute that feedback means so much. Thank you 🙏. The print was one of the most popular when we had our gallery show - I think the time is ripe for serenity! 2y
Butterfinger I think it is absolutely gorgeous!!!! 2y
Oryx Oh I just saw your print through the link - it's gorgeous. So peaceful. So serene. 2y
DrexEdit Love this cover. Looks like Finland to me. 😊💜 2y
squirrelbrain Beautiful! Both the cover and your print…. 💚 2y
Mitch @Butterfinger @oryx @DrexEdit @squirrelbrain - thank you so much. It‘s a labour of love - but we have a fantastic essay in the book written by a real author who knows Finland so well. So I‘m hoping that helps place the photographs in context! 🤞🏼 2y
julesG The cover is perfect. When I think Finland green and trees are some of the first things that come to mind. (the language, my friend from university and salted licorice filled chocolate named Plopp are some of the other things) The photo is one I'd love to have on a large canvas, it 'shouts' serenity. 😉 2y
Mitch @julesG thank you 🙏. Flavoured liquorice is one of the main reasons I think Finland has been voted the happiest place of earth so many years running! 🤣 2y

As soon as I saw this book I had to adopt it. In it I found a sense of home, deeper understanding of my heritage, a bit of nostalgia, and inspiration to make some changes and chase better well-being. I‘d recommend this to anyone! Read a full review as applied to #mentalhealth & #wellbeing via the link!

Going to Barnes & Noble for my weekly self-care drink, snack, & browse when I found this gem! 😍 I IMMEDIATELY had to adopt it!!!

Sisu is such a big part of my life. It‘s gotten me through many an obstacle. But there is so much more I could learn and share with my clients. I do strongly believe in Sisu I named my counseling business in its honor (Sisu Lumi Counseling).

I cannot wait to read this and share it with clients, litsy, and everyone!!!
