I only got through one chapter before I gave up, because this is just so IMMATURE. More sex jokes in a six-page span than I heard in several weeks of high school and college, and none of them even FUNNY, stereotypes that are borderline offensive, and writing that comes off like it‘s trying to hard. I know TJ Klune can write, so this one is a huge letdown. #auldlangspine

Oh my gods! A perfectly brewed concoction of fantasy & humour in one rib cracking novel that is guaranteed to leave you snorting. Fantasy tropes are tweaked & revitalised - I'm looking at you The Lucky Novice, Rainbow Pooping Unicorns & Bearded Mentors - yet remain unique. I'm pretty sure I belong in Verania, a kingdom of queer love, magic & delicious knights. Awesomely sarcastic, witty & dry, with a sprinkle (read: gigantic ton) of sex jokes! 🦄

I had a real focus on queer stories this month, and these are a selection of the books I read - all of them absolutely brilliant, but my favourite without a doubt is the tagged, Lightning Struck Heart. Funny, endearing and hopeful, as I've come to expect from TJ Klune. The rest were all great in their own ways, thoroughly enjoyed them all! I'll be posting another with a range of other queer stories I've read this month.

I've been saving this magical series by one of my favorite authors for my birthday and I am SO excited to start it today! It has magic! Dragons! And a hornless gay unicorn named Gary! 🦄😂

The best present I have ever received is that Chaplin is still alive and doing well and able to celebrate my birthday with me! I'm feeling extra lucky and blessed today! 💕

This was a hilarious magical romp of an adventure. Sam, the King's Wizard's apprentice, has a crush on the gorgeous knight Ryan - the Prince's boyfriend. When the Prince is kidnapped by a dragon, Sam and Ryan are sent to rescue him, along with Sam's best friends, a gay hornless unicorn and a half-giant.
While this was ridiculous and full of silly sex jokes, it was also a very sweet story about Sam figuring out his magic and his place in the world

I‘m not usually a big fan of romance novels in general, and I haven‘t read many (any?) gay fantasy romances, but I LOVED this book. I was cackling like a maniac through most of it. (And when I wasn‘t chortling, I might have been bawling because it had just ripped my heart out).

A word of warning - if you‘re offended by language or crude humour, this is probably one to skip.

Oookay, so that was unexpected - this was a recommendation from a friend and I wasn‘t convinced at first but I was so wrong! The narration is simply divine, the story & dialogue are hilarious and silly and the characters are adorable. Did I mention how fabulous the narration is? No? It‘s glorious - Michael Lesley is so dedicated to the story and so incredibly funny, it‘s just a pleasure to listen to. Definitely worth it just for that!

Queer culture is retroactively deciding when you started dating. 😏

You know how sometimes things you remember tasting a certain way in your childhood, taste entirely different as an adult? I can‘t remember the last time I had Entenmann‘s chocolate frosted donuts, but they were in a center basket at the grocery store the other day and I had to get them. Verdict: exactly as remembered.

I‘d totally line up to hug puppies and get my ice cream and compliment. No please to the balloon, though. 🎈 = 💀

So I ate three times between 10a-4p (twice more than usual); was sweating despite my apartment not being above 68°; had suddenly hot & heavy eyelids and had to take a screen break; then got SO tired and had to lay down “for just a minute” with a comfort read on my kindle. (Probably you saw this was going before I did...) I woke up with a tickle in my throat and put it all together. sick kid regimen underway: couch nest and coldcalm and Gary x2. ?

When The Iliad doesn‘t make it back into the car before an impromptu visit, it‘s important to have a backup Literary Masterpiece™️. @brandybear22 was given very little to go on before gamely launching into this one, giving a lively and enthusiastic interpretation of the first two chapters. I think I‘ll keep this one, she‘s awfully fun.

I loved this book!!! It's a m/m fantasy book. It was so hilarious, I laughed out loud in some parts. Fair warning, some of the humor is really raunchy. I couldn't get enough of Sam, Tiggy, Gary, Kevin, Ryan, Justin, Randall, and Morgan. I immediately picked up the next installment.

I freakin' loved this book. It is *hilarious.* Think D&D by way of Gallivant with a nympho maniac dragon, a gay hornless unicorn, a virtuous knight, and a virginal apprentice wizard thrown into the mix. With nasty pixies and a few dark wizards, too. Right now it's FREE so grab it. Then get the next book. #mmromance #hornlessgayunicorn #fantasy

This is a laugh-out-loud m|m fantasy, adventure, romance complete with a dragon and a unicorn. I really mean the laugh out loud bit. There are also some bits that will make you cry. I‘ve not read the rest of the series yet but this one is definitely worth it.

My cats are unsure what to make of this quiet time on the couch thing this morning, but they seem ready to accept it.

Therapy homework is the best homework.

I have just finished this on Audible, and let me tell you, it was HILARIOUS! It made me laugh so much and the most inappropriate times, like on the bus or at work or in the coffee shop, but I loved it! If you are thinking of trying this one, I would definitely recommend listening to the audiobook, it is perfectly narrated and has some brilliant one liners, that I will probably carry with me for a long time. 5 🌟 from me!

A friend highly recommended this to me this weekend and within the first 5 minutes I was hooked. Hell, I was hooked with the first sentence.

And while my current BFFs are absolutely awesome, there is a small part of me that really wishes that I also had a gay, hornless, sassy unicorn named Gary as a BFF.

One of my favorite books I've read this year. It's part romance, part fantasy/adventure, and very LOL funny. And also my pick for #booktober day 13 #bestsidekick : Gary the hornless gay unicorn! You couldn't ask for a more devoted (or snarkier) companion. The humor is quite raunchy - but if you're down with that Gary & co will keep you chortling throughout. @RealLifeReading
