#NewYearNewBooks Day 23: #InvolvesJourney to “the end” wherever that is. Recent book haul from the Big Bad Wolf book sale in Sharjah last January 1st.

I might be coming to the end of reading this book. I‘m about 75 pages in and I‘m getting really sick of reading the constant refrain of how unhappy they all were and their equal unwillingness to make any changes to improve their lives…

Has anyone read this one? Should I bail or does it get any better?

I have not read this one. It was on my radar but had mixed reviews. Then @wanderinglynn read it and hated so I took it off my list because I trust her opinion.

This one has been on my TBR for the best part of 10 years, and I finally read it thanks to #BookSpin, as it was this month‘s #DoubleSpin selection. I find myself wondering if I would have enjoyed it more if I‘d read it 10 years ago. Some aspects of its look at office politics are keenly observed, but some seemed far too petty, and the book itself felt overly long. It was a decent read, but didn‘t set my world alight.

Not quite the end, we have one more Music Photo Challenge co-hosted by @Cinfhen for November.

Happy to live only a few minutes walk from the DC Pride Parade route 🌈. Easy to head home and get back to my book when the crowd anxiety kicks in.

My favorite intern came back this summer and brought me books 😊. Already feeling the office vibes in this one 🗄🗂📈

#Bizness #NoFemmeber Odd that this is the only book I can easily recall that is more than superficially about modern life at work--lots of potential for humor and poignancy, and this has both. I'll be on the lookout for other good ones today! Merrill Garbus' business is whipping up bold vocals and self-made samples into a frenzy, not to mention lyrics that rail against injustice. tUnE-yArDs is guaranteed to liven up your boring workday! @Cinfhen

I pulled the most random collection of books off the shelf yesterday when trying to determine what to start next on my #TBR 🤔 The tagged book fit my desire for something light and funny so it might be next..
Oh and of course all 5 #botm choices will be added to this December stack in a few days time 😊

I finished this yesterday and am still torn on how I feel. Maybe it was the format that threw me off, I'm not sure. However, it was an interesting story with intriguing characters. I'm still trying to figure out who's point of view it was told from.

I've been working in a design/communication agency for years an this novel about #work at an advertising agency is so damn funny and recognizable! And it reminds me of The Office, which I loved on tv!

Started listening to @Liberty All the Backlist podcast (great idea, love it!) and when she mentioned this, remembered it is on my #LitsyReadingChallenge list for #LRC6 - #published2007 ! Seemed like a sign that I should finally crack it open. Here we go!

Just looking back over one of my favorite opening paragraphs ever.

This book has been on my to-read list for FIVE years! I'm finally reading it.

Round 7 of @Kosugi and I's #tenatatime #TBR project. The last round took me a long time to get through due to a bunch of longstanding library holds coming in all at once.

Then I came to the 40% mark, where I concluded this witty satire was inordinately pleased with itself, and so then I decided I wouldn't come to the end.

Started this on audio yesterday. I'm not sure that I would say I'm enjoying it, but it certainly captures the corporate ambience perfectly…

One of my favorite bookstores gives these away in January if you buy enough books...which of course I did! 💁🏽 It's fun and it gives you great ideas for a variety of new reads during the year.

Coffee break on a Sunday is reminding me a lot of Monday. Loving this so far, though.

An ending. Hopefully a beginning. Tough day glad I have my books.

The middle of this didn't seem to fit with the beginning and the end. And it didn't help that my audio turned out to be abridged and I didn't find that out until the end.

This was my #firsteverlitsypost I'm having so much fun here and have come across so many great books.

The first #workplacebook that came to mind. I can recall vividly that time when everyone was being laid off and people just went to work wondering this was the day you'd get the call. #somethingforsept

Joshua Ferris writes very unusual books and I must confess that I am a fan. This was the first book by him I read and, apart from the choice of narrator(s), I enjoyed learning about the lives of these coworkers who were losing their jobs.

Very funny and oddly affecting. Will definitely read more.
