I just read that Rachel Caine, author of The Morganville Vampires series, died today at the age of 58.
Were her books Literature with a capital “L”? Absolutely not. Did they reignite for me the love of vampire lore & the thrill I felt at watching Buffy for the first time as a preteen? Absolutely. Merlin, her terrifying creation, the vampire mad scientist with bunny slippers, a Hawaiian shirt, & a heart of gold will always be dear to me. RIP, Rox.

so-soI was disappointed in this book. First off, the characters felt stilted and there was not enough character development to suit my tastes. The plot was also lacking though the pacing was good. I also didn't appreciate the cliffhanger at the end. It felt like the story was cut in half verses a reaching of a conclusion yet knowing there is more to come. 3⭐

Love this series but no longer want to hang onto it. Disclaimer book 3 is currently missing but it‘s around here somewhere I‘m sure!

panVapid twit(s) make terrible decisions, first in a series. Plot and character behavior handwavey to an infuriating degree. Denouncement introduces completely new plot solely for manipulative cliffhanger purposes. I blow raspberries at it.

so-soOnce again, not the best vampire series. I thought I would give it another shot. Will not finish series.
pickI listened to this on audiobook and at first the narrators voice was kind of annoying but the story was so good after a few minutes I didn't even notice anymore. I normally don't read ANY YA but I made an exception for vampire fiction which I ❤️ If you have any recommendations for Vampire/supernatural books let me know, but I don't do romance!

pickThis is one of my favourite vampire series. I really want to read it again. I love the uniqueness of it - a town run by vampires and the humans pay for their protection in blood. Awesome! Of course there is so much more to the story but I'm not about spoilers so I won't say anything more. 😊
so-soI read this years ago in high school but I remember that I thought it was a very odd, unique book about vampires. The way the town went about it and stuff like that.
