This is first day Ive needed a cup of tea to warm up ... the weather is turning.
I am loving this book. Loving Dorothy Whipple.
I‘ve ordered more of her ... the writing is wonderful ✨
I have finally settled again & it‘s back to D Whipple for The Priory ( already loving it )
And I must read my granddaughter Sofia‘s book that she made for me 💕💕✨
And so it begins.
pickI loved this story of how a family changes in a few years before the outbreak of ww2, after a cricket loving self absorbed major marries a yngr woman causing disruption in the lives of hid two daughters and sister. Wonderful characters and situations, i was totally absorbed amd the 500+ pages flew by which read like a fantastic soap opera, this brings a curious period of social history to life.
My physical reading group book this month is anything by the above and anything by monica dickens. I picked this up 2nd hand with the lovely persephone book mark intact. Im not sure whether i should laugh or cry about this description of short sighted individuals as i sit here with my specs resting on my forehead lowering them periodically to check what's happening in the bake off final.
Anyway im enjoying the book regardless 😂
pickMy tiny collection of #fivestack books published by Persephone 🌹 The tagged title by Dorothy Whipple is a favorite. Wonderfully written and at turns humorous and sad about an upper middle class family having to adjust to a changing Britain.

Stopped by The Strand today, even though I've made many #promises not to add more books to my collection before the move!! 😬 But how can I resist when it could be one of my last chances to go! Found these two books for just $10 total. Excited about the Persephone #🇬🇧 and the Irving, although it‘s Litsy rating is not too hot 🤔

This was one of the three Persephone Books I picked up. They were as expensive used as they are brand new off the Persephone website, but when I pointed that out to the store owner he slashed the prices by 50%.
