There's something infinitely cozy about reading romance novels during the holidays. The sappy, happy endings are exactly what I like to end my year with. SEP never disappoints with her witty dialogue and smart, funny characters. Perfect 💕 #romantsy

I liked this one - maybe not her best, but I still found myself laughing out loud over the banter between Coop and Piper. Good fun (although not as fun as chasing a laser, says Mikey-Cat).
This is where I confess my deep, dark secret : this was my first SEP. Didn't love it, but it won't be my last. #romantsy
I had a reading slump in May. Nothing I read was the best! #BestofMay #maybookflowers Here is the link tho my blog: https://coffeeandcatsblog.wordpress.com/2017/05/31/may-wrap-up/
I wanted to like this book since I'm a fan of SEP from way back. But this book is an unfocused mess. Too many subplot threads that really don't add to the main plot at all and go nowhere. And I think she may have read some of the more recent criticism of her romance novels on Goodreads and tried to address them all in this novel. And that just never seems to work for any author (seriously authors, never read the comments on Goodreads!)
#bookmail from @rachellayown ! So exciting. Ironically I bought SEP's Heroes Are My Weakness this morning at the B&N! Also I've read your story and will be sending you a follow up email this evening but I think it's ready!
Yay! My books from @Liberty arrived! I won these 4 last week during @Liberty marathon giveaway weekend 💖As promised I plan on #payingitforward and re-gifting all these novels after I read them! Stay tuned and thanks again @Liberty for your generosity 🙌🏻📚🎉
This book is a nice quick read if your in a dry spell. I loved the banter between Piper and Coop. The different events that happen to the two of them keep me turn the page. 🤓
My first SEP novel and I really enjoyed it! I really liked the heroine, Piper. Now it looks like I'll have to go back to the beginning of this series, because it seems like all the heroines are very unique. #romantsy

Taking a book break to make squash soup. You can't even begin to tell how vibrant this squash is and how good it smells!!
Time for some comfort trading after yesterday's tough book - with a little Edie- cat for company. She met a small dog today and got all worked up hissing but stood get ground, so she deserves a snuggle. 😻
🌟🌟🌟🌟⭐
The final book (so far) in the Chicago Stars series and another enjoyable addition to it, although there was something (and I can't put my finger on what) about it that made it a little lacking in the usual charm SEP books have. I think maybe the characters felt a little harder? But it was a minor niggle in a story that all in all I enjoyed. #romansty #osrbc
Loved this! It was such a nice, sweet break! It was also the first book I read and listened to which was thoroughly enjoyable!
And this is why I love SEP so much! Another perfect read. Funny, quirky and engaging characters, and a storyline that keeps you hooked. ❤️
It's lunchtime, and I'm finally getting a chance to start this! Love me some SEP! ❤️
Read this one a while back. Not as good as the earlier Chicago Stars books, but still a solid read with laugh-out-loud moments.

A perk of the trade: my own SEP notebook.
So happy Susan Elizabeth Phillips continued her Chicago Stars series. Such a great book.
A Paddywax " Jane Austen library" scented candle and a great book. TGIS ????
Just a typical Tuesday multi-tasking - reading this newest installment in the Chicago Stars series and watching vintage Season 1 Veronica Mars. Then, I looked over and saw my adorable girls cuddling. 😍 #adoptdontshop #rescue #SeniorvsJunior #LoVe
"One!" she'd yelled. "I said I'd have one for you! And you agreed to take care of it! I never said anything about two! Do you have to be an overachiever in everything?"
#lolmoment
Not my favorite SEP book but an entertaining read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hovering between pick & so-so. I'd be more solidly in the pick camp if this didn't feel SO similar to most of her other books. There's something to knowing what you do best, but her heroes and heroines are so similar as to be interchangeable sometimes, many of the romance beats are exactly the same as her other books, some moments are practically a carbon copy. And unfortunately I just couldn't like the H/h as much as I was supposed to. #romantsy
I was lucky to meet Susan Elizabeth Phillips for the second time last night! She's always so funny, entertaining, and warm. And she was so sweet to sign a little stack of my books. She is absolutely my all time favorite author! ❤️
Library ebook copy just came in today. Hearing some mixed reviews, but I'm keeping an open mind. And gosh, still think the cover is fabulous! #romantsy

3.5 stars! SEP is back with a Chicago Stars book.
Cooper Graham, a retired quarterback who started a nightclub hires private investigator Piper Dove as issues at his club and personal life start to appear. SEP's flawless banter gets 5 stars, the macho-man with a sweet heart hero is ever present, and an average looking heroine with larger than life character makes the whole story work as always.
It wasn't "it had to be you" but it was enjoyable.
Last day of my solo vacation in Budapest and reflecting on all of the great books I managed to squeeze in in between sightseeing, bath houses, and flower-shaped gelato. Heading home in the morning but, for now, soaking in the gorgeous view one more time with a latte and (you guessed it!) a great book 😄

Fantastic! No one delivers witty repartee, steamy chemistry, and unpredictable characters like SEP! She is the absolute QUEEN of the literary rom com and I can't get enough. Had a goofy grin on my face the entire time I was reading this and couldn't put it down 😄
Might be just about time for me to go back and re-read all of her stuff (again), she's just that good.
YES. This book was fantastic! I want to stop everything + read this entire series from the beginning. Right now.
Main character Piper is so great: fiesty, flawed, impulsive, and smart as a whip. I loved the way this book is not all romance but has subplot substance that is presented in an interesting way with humor. The whole book made me smile! Great secondary characters-I'm itching to know their back stories now.
And that ending: 👏🏻👏🏻 👏🏻
Each month my marketing team does a Facebook Live with our picks of the month. This month First Star I See Tonight by Susan Elizabeth Phillips was my "Holy Guacamole!" Pick. Click through to watch the whole thing to see which books are being made into movies, what's the best last summer read, and which novel has a mystical sex scene with a eunuch and a goddess! https://www.facebook.com/WmMorrowbks/videos/1079823552100104/
I never read books out of order. Never.
This is #8 in a series + reads as a standalone (and might have football in it, Go Cardinals!) so I'm gonna try the "reads-well-as-a-standalone" thing. But I'm nervous about jumping ahead. #bookwormproblems #readingquirks #imsureitwillbefine
? Do you guys & gals ever read companion series out of order? Am I the only one that is a complete stickler about reading. in. order. always? Surely not!
Susan's Chicago Stars books make up some of my most carefree reading memories, and this new one in her beloved series is no exception. It has it all. A sassy leading lady, a mega hunky football star, sexual tension, snappy retorts and withering take-downs, and plenty of sizzling sex scenes. I love the way Chicago's Michigan Avenue shopping sets up a subplot. When you need a happy ending, you can't go wrong with this book. | 👍🏻👍🏻
Susan Elizabeth Phillips at her book event at Anderson's Book Shop!! FIRST STAR I SEE TONIGHT is the next installment in her well loved Chicago Stars football series.📚🏈
Love getting an ARC of one of my fav romance author's books! I really loved the relationship between the hero and heroine in this one and it was as funny as ever. There's something about her newer novels that are missing something or are a little clumsy, compared to her past ones. Still love it!
SEP at her best. Tough, intelligent heroine (with just enough quirk) and a hero to match.
