Yet another King read that routinely ripped me from responsibility and rest in a dogged quest to finish just one more chapter. The Institute is a captivating story of children with special abilities and the shady organization who would misuse them. The characters are delightfully written, with Luke as the obvious standout, and the tale King unwinds is entertaining throughout. 5/5

I did not anticipate enjoying this novel at all. In fact I started it only because I had the copy on the premise that I was going to bail after 50 pages as I am not an avid King fan. But I found this to be an excellent read! I thoroughly enjoyed reading every bit of it and it may have sprouted further curiosity into some of his other writings. Not a dull moment. Great from start to finish! Great if you‘re into government conspiracies.

This was a classic very very good Stephen King novel. It was such a logic idea after Carrie and The Shining to make a weapon from this psychic children. I love the idea! And now I want to read more about that other Institution they mention in the end.

If you‘re familiar with King‘s novel FIRESTARTER, you might remember the shadowy governmental organization chasing the young protagonist to capture and study her abilities. This is the story of that place and the children who are imprisoned there. Solid and heartfelt, this is one of the author‘s better novels. He even manages to stick the landing and gift us with an ending that feels righteous and earned. Recommended!

I enjoyed this book a lot. I'd say it's in the top 3 Stephen King books I've read so far. The characters were all interesting and the story had a plot that kept you invested the whole time. The ending didn't end the way I was expecting, but to be honest I'm not sure what I wanted it to be either 😅

The novel starts off with the story of Tim Jamieson, a cop that had no choice but to resign due to some trouble he got into. He ends up in a small town in South Carolina. Later we meet Luke, an extremely brilliant child that gets kidnapped and sent to an institution where they experiment on children with special abilities. The institute leaders take Luke‘s brilliance for granted and it makes for an adventure packed story.

It‘s Stephen King…need I say more?

Meanwhile, in Minneapolis, young Luke Ellis is kidnapped in the dead of night, his parents murdered. He‘s taken to the Institute, a secret org that uses kids for psychic warfare.

Intense, maddening—yet ultimately satisfying, this was a sprawling, unputdownable tale for me. Great characters, wild action, engaging story.

❌ My goal for the #20in4 Readathon was read for 10 hours to hopefully finish this book. I totaled my time today, 9 hours 56 minutes! Lol wish I had checked last night to read 4 minutes more and be legitimate.
💉I really got into this book and spent a lot of time worrying about the kids in the story. I‘ve seen it labeled as horror, and although it was a horrific tale, I would say it‘s closer to science fiction.

Can truly never go wrong with a story from The King

On to book number 4 of 2022. Have read blackbird volume 2 inbetween this book and namesake just as a quick read. But been looking forward to getting round to this one as its my first ever stephen king book that i will have read!

Book 37 of 2021.

I read a Stephen King novel every summer, and this was this year‘s choice. I fully enjoyed the plot and King‘s trademark effortless writing, though the build-up to the final confrontation moves along a bit too slowly for my liking. Still, King‘s superhuman productivity continues to amaze me. His books will clearly keep me busy for many more summers.

It‘s official. I am quickly becoming a die hard Stephen King fan. His pure talent to craft an unbelievable premise for a story into something that truly makes you believe that it could in fact happen is astounding. I read many other fiction books, and like the characters. I read a Stephen King book and fall in love with the characters. Another suspenseful, twisty and shocking read from the master of horror.

Another winner from King, probably the best one he's written in recent times.

It's a long one but fast-paced with unforgettable characters.

Not sure how I feel about this book! I really enjoyed the beginning but then I found it really long. I'd really like to know what people think!

King is one of my favorite authors, and I‘m always excited to start a new book by him. 60 pages in and loving it so far!

Wow! Thoroughly enjoyed reading this one and I was hooked from the very start. Absolutely loved the plot, along with the character development. My first Stephen King novel and it certainly won‘t be my last.
