Dave Barry can always be counted on for a wild and wacky book, and this one is no exception. This is his fiction debut and gets a bit more serious in spots than his other fiction reads but is overall quite funny if you like this kind of thing.

Whenever I need a dose of hilarious Florida dysfunction, I usually turn to Carl Hiassen. Turns out Dave Barry is pretty well versed in "Florida" crazy. The amount of shenanigans and characters he aligns in this story amazes me. With all the action going on you might think characterization suffers,but he does this Ann Patchett thing where he gives a character one or two sentences that let you know precisely who they are. It was a good book.

This is one of the funniest books I ever read. Don't know how well it holds up, 18 years later. Has anyone else read it? #funnybooks #riotgrams

I listened to this as an audio version, which was highly entertaining. This book was so fun, absolutely fun, with crazy characters that are constantly getting into ridiculous situations. The book is entirely characters and plot. And by plot, I mean things happening all at once. Don't look for introspection. Just prepare to be amused. And tell yourself to avoid Miami in the future.
