Peach Cobbler Murder
Peach Cobbler Murder | Joanne Fluke
With The Cookie Jar, Hannah Swensen has a mouthwatering monopoly on the bakery business of Lake Eden, Minnesota. But when a rival store opens, tensions begin to bubble. . . As she sits in her nearly empty store on Groundhog Day, Hannah can only hope that spring is just around the corner--and that the popularity of the new Magnolia Blossom Bakery is just a passing fad. The southern hospitality of Lake Eden's two Georgia transplants, Shawna Lee and Vanessa Quinn, is grating on Hannah's nerves--and cutting into her profits. At least Hannah has her business partner Lisa's wedding to look forward to. She's turned one of Lisa's favorite childhood treats into a spectacular Wedding Cookie Cake. And Lisa's aunt will be bringing her famous Peach Cobbler to the reception. But Hannah starts to steam when she finds out that Shawna Lee has been invited--and is bringing her own Peach Cobbler. Hannah doesn't like having the Georgia Peach in the mix, especially when both Shawna Lee and Hannah's sometime-boyfriend, Detective Mike Kingston, are no-shows to the wedding. Hannah has suspected that Mike is interested in more than Shawna Lee's baking abilities. So when she sees lights on at the Magnolia Blossom Bakery after the reception, she investigates--and finds Shawna Lee shot to death. Everyone in town knew the Cookie Jar was losing business to the Magnolia Bakery--a fact that puts Hannah at the top of the initial list of suspects. But with a little help from her friends, Hannah's determined to prove that she wasn't the only one who had an axe to grind with the Quinn sisters. Somebody wasn't fooled by the Georgia Peaches and their sweet-as-pie act--and now it's up to Hannah to track down whoever had the right ingredients to whip up a murder. . . Includes 10 original recipes for you to try!

German chocolate cake is one of my dad‘s favorites, so when this series provided a recipe for German Chocolate Cake Cookies, I had to give it a try. They‘re good, but not a substitute for the real thing.

These have been a couple of slow reading weeks for me, but I finally finished this one! This series was a favorite of my aunt's, so reading them has been a nice way of feeling close to her, and it was a cute mystery!

My 5th book for #SeriesRead2022 @TheSpineView

As a lover of Regency-era romances, I‘m insulted that the author clearly thinks very little of my intelligence. It‘s not like she‘s writing any Pulitzer winners. Also, she misattributed a line to Macbeth that‘s actually from Hamlet.

But overall, I enjoyed this one. It‘s not like I come to these books for the mental stimulation.

I like this cozy series overall. Yes, they are pretty predictable, but they are perfect palette cleansers for me between more “serious” reads.

This book #7 in the Hannah Swensen mystery left me rushing into book 8. Lake Eden sound like a great place to visit and the book always leave me with the feeling to bake something. A nice cozy mystery.

Just started this and had to share this line.

“Hannah started to chortle. 'You want to hire my cat as an assassin and pay him off in frozen shrimp?'

Classic Hannah. I love going back to the beginning on this series - the recent books have strayed from the roots. In Peach Cobbler, Lisa gets married, Hannah's rival in love and bake shop is murdered, and the mystery must be solved.

For the duration of the #BookishOlympics I needed fast and easy reading. That's how I discovered the sub-genre #CulinaryMystery and just reading the titles - I'm drooling.

ReadingOver50 I have read most of those. They are great. 8y

SaraFair I love the Joanne Fluke series! I am only on #4 but really like the characters. If you are in the US, check out the "Murder She Baked" movies that are based on them. They are on Hallmark Mystery channel. I have since grabbed cozy mysteries on cheeses and dog shows-lol. 8y
Simona @SaraFair I'm not from the US, so I will have to read😃 8y

A cozy mystery is always relaxing for me. And what can be better than reading with food! These come with the recipes the amateur sleuth makes in her bake shop. Winner! #augustphotochallenge #laidbackbooks

Alisnazzy I thought of these for the challenge 😄 8y
