You could say that Ruth Bader Ginsburg's life has been one disagreement after another.
#firstlinefridays @ShyBookOwl #RBG
The words that match my heart. I just cannot stop crying.
She disagreed by never forgetting how it felt to read such words. She never forgot the sting of prejudice.
A great book about women empowerment and standing up in the face of prejudice. Encouraging people standing up for themselves in ways that will help provoke change. A great book, must-have for my classroom library.
I Dissent: Ruth Bader Ginsburg Made Her Mark by Debbie Levy (nonfiction, published 2016) tells the story of one of the only women to serve as a supreme court justice. Ruth grew up facing many challenges from being a woman to being Jewish and not wanting to fit into her stereotypical role. This book explains what was stacked against her but then it shows how she would dissent and not let these things hold her back. It is very empowering.
“My mother told me to be a lady. And for her, that meant be your own person, be independent.“
I really enjoyed this book. I learned a lot about Ginsburg. I would read this to my class to insure them to always follow their dreams no matter what society thinks. It is really cool that she is one of two EVER female Supreme Court Justices.
This is a nonfiction book about Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She is an American lawyer and a Justice of the Supreme Court. She is only the second female to be on the court. This book tells the justice‘s story through the lens of her many famous dissents, or disagreements. The author's note lets us know that she did a lot of research on Ginsburg and has supported facts.
“Girls? Girls were expected to find husbands.”
I can read this to my students to teach them about RBG
“I Dissent” was written by Debbie Levy in 2016. This biography was written about Ruth Ginsburg and discusses her life and how she got to where she is today! I really enjoyed this and believe my students will too!
“She disagreed by never forgetting how it felt to read such words. She never forgot the sting of prejudice.“
Justice RGB became the first Jewish female on the nation's highest court.
Published in 2016, this children's biography is great to carry in the classroom! This book discusses inequality and discrimination that RGB has faced over her lifetime. RGB was able to and still does defy all that people tell her that she is incapable of doing.
#7covers7days Day 4 (forgot to post yesterday)
Who doesn‘t love the notorious RBG?! Loved this and the message of female equality and power. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Picture Book: Letter “I”

As a woman, i love what she has done for equality. I also appreciate what she had to do to get there. I feel many of us take working for granted. #readharderchallenge2019 childrens or middle grade book that won a diversity award in 2018
We loved this one! A good story about RBG and not conforming to social norms
At our Puzzle Table in the Fiction Area/ STEM Area, there was a wall needing some updating. I decided to Girl Power it up for this month of Women‘s History Month 💙👩🏫🧕🏽👩🏽💻👩🏻🎤👧🏻
These are the rest of the haul I got from book outlet.
Concise illustrated “life of” The Honourable Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Lovely edition but not too junior and remains politically neutral. Appropriate for kids reading on their own and adults who enjoy a good illustrated edition. Modern chalk lettering can be a little difficult but overall a very good tribute. The additional info in the back and further suggested reading are also extremely valuable. Definitely a pick & highly recommended!!
This Jane Addams Award winner is a (B/NF) picture book written by: Debbie Levy and illustrated by: Elizabeth Baddeley. This picture book notes Ginsburg‘s foibles, the support of her husband and family, and her struggles as a lawyer, professor and judge. TS: IR, GR, SR & PR. #UCFLAE3414SP18
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ! Great book. I haven‘t read much in Ginsburg but now I want to! If you have any recommendations for further reading on Ruth, let me know in the comments !⬇️⬇️⬇️
Another great picture book bio of RBG. Totally studying for my Halloween costume 😎
These just came in the mail from my sister. My six-year-old really wanted them because she loved the "I Dissent" picture book biography!
Love this book! The info and story is easy to understand for kids, there is a section at the back of the book with more in depth info, and a bibliography that includes books for young readers. #kidlit #bibliography
I am simply blown away by the support I have received from my family, friends, and fellow Littens. SO many wonderful people are supporting my cause of getting diverse literature into the hands of my middle school students (http://a.co/7mwodeS). Today I got a package from @emmanoble and I couldn't be more grateful. 📚💕
This book, geared to early readers, touches on the importance of RBG and gives a little history of her life. The illustrations are amazing and colorful. The writing is engaging. #readwomen

I gave this to my friend who is having a baby girl next month. Love the notorious RBG!! #shepersisted
My first born turns 6 in a few days. We always gift at least one book. It's never to early to start these lessons.
Another great children's book about a strong, motivated woman. This book also teaches kids that strict gender roles and stereotypes not only hurt women, but they can be harmful for men as well. I think this book will inspire kids to want to help others and to be themselves, no matter what gender they are.

Squeaking in a bit of reading before work with this charming elementary-level biography of Ruth Bader Ginsburg by Debbie Levy. The theme of dissenting and resisting against limitations thrown in one's path is appealing to all ages and even includes little flashes of humor. Hand this one to a kiddo looking to write a report about an influential woman (or do like me and pick it up for yourself!). Loved it. #feminist #biography #juvenile
Bold and brazen, determined and decided. This book is superb. Everything in it is strong and effective, from the art, to the text, to the events chosen to capture RBG's life. I read this with my 8-year old, and she loved it as much as I did. It made her ask questions about why things had been the way they were, and what things still need to be changed. I want this one in my personal collection. Maybe I'll share with my kids. :)
Hi Littens! Any suggestions for my friend? Please tweet her or drop them here and I'll let her know :) TIA!
Excellent accompaniment to Notorious RBG! Fantastic illustrations!
A truly delightful children's book about the life of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Levy's prose is spot on; she tells RBG's story in a manner both accessible & empowering. Illustrator Elizabeth Baddeley really captures RBG & her family; her work really aids in the story telling with small details. #imasuckerforgoodillustrations • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 • #rolemodels #childrensbooks #notoriousRBG #yesivereadthatonetooandlovedit #ishouldwriteareviewforthat
I was so excited to get this in the mail today! I can't wait to read it to my classroom and future children! ❤👍🏻
One of the first books I purchased for my daughter!! (Along with She Persisted of course!!) #sheisalmosthere #32weeks
#MarchIntoReading Day 15: #ShePersisted - this is the very first book I read this year. I think it is setting the tone for the entire year - the need for tenacity, integrity, and truth.
For those who want to read more about the life of our #WonderWomanWednesday, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, you have so many wonderful books to choose from, from the ridiculous to the academic to the young at heart. 👩🏻⚖️

I'll be reading this with my son tonight, we've borrowed it from my niece. His middle name is Steinem precisely because I wanted to raise him in a strong feminist tradition. The Notorious RBG will help me out, there. #boymom
