Pete The Cat and his four groovy buttons by James Dean is a fiction picture book. In my opinion was an OK read but the activities I found for it were really cool and there seemed to be a lot of activities. They have math and reading assignments for this book. This book is a Theodor Seuss Geisel Honor award winner.

Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy buttons was written by James Dean and Eric Litwin. It is a great book to help children learn to count backwards, sequence, and gives a great story line. This book also is great because it take the kids on a journey and has a plot twist at the end (he talks about his belly BUTTON). Pete the Cat also got awarded the Geisel Award.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I picked up these today.

Tagged book includes math and a funny twist (if you're if target age—not for us grown-ups) (see spoiler below).

Of these three, I liked "I Love My White Shoes" best. I entered one quote on a previous post, and I'll put a spoiler observation/complaint in a comment below.

Overarching point of Pete the Cat seems to be "It's all good."

JoyBlue Even after the four buttons pop off and roll away, Pete still has his belly button! 😉 6y
JoyBlue In "White Shoes," the shoes probably would have turned purple, not blue, after the blueberries (they were already red). You may think I'm being unnecessarily picky; but it wouldn't hurt the story line, may be more accurate, and would teach about secondary colors. ??? 6y

Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons by Eric Litwin is a great modern fantasy RA notable children and Theodor Seuss Honor book for any classroom library. Pete the Cat kept loosing his buttons one after another. When one falls off, does Pete cry? No way, he keeps on singing his song "my buttons, my buttons, my four groovy buttons." Petes "it's all good" attitude and standard coolness provides some subtle humor as he loses his buttons in
