“With luck, the battle would be quick. Duchess Wigtower was in Princess Magnolia's castle. Her castle was full of secrets. Especially the broom closet. The princess in Black hoped the duchess would not snoop.“

This book is intended for children between the ages of four and seven. After looking over the book I would have to agree. This seems to be a very fun, engaging, and adventurous story for children of these ages to interact with. It is a very easy read with illustrations to help in depicting the plot. This book is also a part of a series which can allow children the opportunity to build on their understanding across other books within in the series.
This story is an example of speculative fiction as it possesses elements including fantasy, fairy tales, magic, and mythical creatures. In this story Princess Magnolia tries her best to hide her alter ego as the Princess in Black from her the nosy Dutchess. While still maintaining the duties she is upheld to as the Princess in Black, which includes transforming into a superhero who protects her kingdom from monsters.
“ “I love to meet people in their own homes,“ said Duchess Wigtower. “I always uncover secrets.“ “
I love Shannon Hale‘s Bayern series, so when I saw this was available for free on Kindle, I had to grab it!

Starting my grand daughter on this series. How can I go wrong with anything by Shannon Hale???#PrincessInBlack#ShannonHale
A prim princess dons a disguise and fights monsters. Yes please! My 4-year-old and I loved it! The illustrations are so much fun and I loved the story of the fiery princess. The series is so much fun to read aloud. After reading these two I immediately wanted to find more of the books in the series.
My Halloween costume this year was The Princess in Black. I had so much fun saving the kingdom! 🖤
Another children's book character for halloween this year. I think this one was a success. :)
Had fun picking out books for my nieces for Christmas this year. This is one of the selections.
My 6 year old‘s bedside table. We‘re big fans of the Princess in Black, or as I prefer to think of her, “Kindergarten Buffy”
Read it to my seven year old daughter. She says “ I love ❤️ Princess 👸🏻 Magnolia “
4/5 👑
Enjoyed this immensely during Lane's nap today.
I am on my way to the airport. I'm flying to Georgia for my brother's wedding so I get to see my favorite #kidsinamerica later today. I know I bought books to give them a couple months ago but I couldn't resist buying a few more. #90sinjuly
5⭐🎉 So for Mothers Day the Library is having a Princess in Black tea for Mothers and their children- both princes and princesses are encouraged to come dressed up either in black/ mask, prince/ princess attire, or a super hero. THIS BOOK IS SO WONDERFUL MY HEART MELTS!!😍😭 Took me literally 10 minutes bit going to sit tight for an hour to finish the last 3.
Princess Magnolia definitely deserves a place among the #kickassheroines
She may look like the perfect princess in pink, but secretly she defends her lands from goat-eating-monsters.
I'm hoping for a reveal at some point so Magnolia can be at peace with her entire identity and not have to hide an important part of herself.

The latest Princess in Black (takes a vacation) hit shelves today and I absolutely loved it. My daughter and I have enjoyed reading these together for over a year now. There is a picture in every single page, so my 3 year old didn't have any attention span problems with these 87 page long stories. Highly recommend to little girls who like princess-ing AND kicking butt.
This book ya'll. My niece is 6 and this badass female princess who secretly fights monsters from Monsterland is so perfect. Birthday presents from auntie Ashley.
This is totally a kid book (level: Intro to chapters books, with lots of fantastic pictures) but it both amazing and hilarious.
The "Princess is Black" follows the story of a princess, who is also a monster fighting ninja and her duel identity unicorn/pony (named Frimplepants/Blacky) as they save the goats from hungry monsters between tea parties.

My boys were shy meeting "the author of Squirrel Girl" but we're giggling all the way home about Frimplepants the unicorn. These are a treat, and the creatures and characters were fun to voice. I think the boys will like reading it to themselves someday, too! (Soon?)
Read this entire book in one sitting to this sweet little birthday girl today. It was a definite hit!
