Exciting book. I was thinking Sheridan may have been very traumatized by what happened!

Started reading the very first Joe Pickett novel. I have read one other before.
This was a good mystery/procedural in a setting I don‘t typically encounter. Joe Pickett is a game warden in Wyoming who gets embroiled in politics and murder when a local hunter turns up dead in Joe‘s woodpile. The investigation that follows uncovers conspiracy and corruption in the small town, and it all leads to an epic showdown. This was a fun listen, with a good audiobook narrator, and I‘m looking forward to reading more of the series.
Help please! I hardly read this genre, and would like a couple of options as well as the tagged for a prompt next year.
I wasn't sure what to expect out of crime novel with a game warden as the MC. I was quite surprised. As the cover says "A great storyteller." I agree 100%. I look forward to reading more Joe Pickett novels. This was a relaxing yet engrossing tale of greed and doing the right thing. Worth your time investment.
My first CJ Box novel. I understand him to be an excellent writer. Let's find out

I‘ve had this series on my TBR for a while and I finally got around to reading the first one and I loved it! I definitely plan on reading the rest of the series! I also plan on watching the show that was made based off of the book! I hope it was done well!
Reading the first in the Joe Pickett series. We're talking murder, wildlife, endangered species...
Nice one, going good.
Day 17 - #Season #WordsOfOctober
#OpenSeason #CJBox
I read this book in 2014 but need to get back to this series!
My first Joe Pickett story from author CJ Box. I had the series recommended by a friend so I started off with the first book. I wasn‘t sure about the main character at first but he grew on me as the story developed. Good summer reading fiction book. I‘m unsure if I will continue in the series.
Wow! What a bargain - the first six books in the Joe Pickett Series by C J Box are available for 98p. Six books each for less than 17p! Grab it while it lasts. Only read one C J Box but really enjoyed it. Available on Amazon and Apple. Might be worth checking outside the UK
They discussed the plan and the possibilities. They would move in on the elk camp in the predawn from three directions and close in. Wacey said he would #communicate with Joe and Deputy McLanahan with hand signals. If anyone was in the camp, they would surround and disarm them as quickly as possible. #QuotsyDec19
Jeannie came back into the kitchen and asked if Joe wanted coffee. He said no and she sat down with a cup for herself. She took the cigarette out of her mouth and put it in an ashtray. “I can‘t smoke on #account of I‘m expecting, as you can tell,” Jeannie said. “But sometimes I just have to stick one in my mouth for a while. It helps.” #QuotsyMay19
This was an easy western crime thriller. I would classify this as man-lit instead of chick-lit.
I definitely will be reading more of this series. I like the characters and want to see what happens to them.
#Wyoming
Joe Pickett is a WY game warden. He doesn‘t seem to have any major baggage or drama. He isn‘t known for great things like his shooting skills or being a tough guy- he just loves the job and wants his family to be proud. Great premise featuring endangered animals, big game hunting, the environment. Joe‘s oldest daughter Sheridan is a fast favorite character-love her. A western thriller with true bad guys and y‘all I‘m so ready for the next book.
“Vern,” Joe hissed. “If I find out you‘re involved in all of this, things are going to get real western.”
🤠🤠🤠
Have any of you read the Joe Pickett books? This first one is so good!
I would have to rate this some where between a pick and so-so. It was an interesting western thriller who's protagonist is a ranger which for me was a refreshing change of pace. I enjoyed that it takes place in in the great out doors. It was an easy plot to figure out but I did like how he unfolded the story. I will be checking out the 2nd book and see how it goes.
I felt like it was overly dramatic. Like, how much shit is does protagonist have to go through in book 1? Different, but eh.
Dewey's Reading Challenge. Today's prompt is place. These books take place in Wyoming where I am from. #30daysofreadathon
Vacation brain candy. 😉 Box accomplished what he says he set out to do in the intro: depict his native WY & highlight the tension between Feds and locals re: conservation. Writing was very good and I'm surprised the series hasn't been made into a show or movie.
My dad and I started this series after reading a bunch of Lee Child novels with Jack Reacher. At first I was like, this guy will never compare to the beast of a man that Jack Reacher is, but somehow he does. Through pure luck and perseverance, Joe Pickett saves the day and you as the reader are cheering him on the whole time. Read it. You will love it.
My dad has been tearing through this series. He isn't a huge reader so I started reading this so we can talk books:) So far it's pretty good. Gonna be a good airplane ✈️ 📚 book. Headed to Phoenix with the hubby and kiddos to watch some Brewer spring training.
In Quebec City I, of course, had to visit the nearest independent bookstore. When Christian Vachon discovered (from my VERY elementary French) that I owned a bookstore in Wyoming he immediately took me over to show me his favorite mystery author--CJ Box! No barriers-we independents speak the same language and I have a new friend in Quebec City!
As the father of a wonderful girl, this hits me right in my feels.
