I like Sutton and I appreciated her story a lot; it was very heartfelt. However, I thought there would have been a bit more crafting in the book, and I wish there were photos of her career AND her crafts. There was some timeline shuffling in the chapters so I got a little confused a few times. Low pick for me.
I kept switching from hardcover to #audiocrafting. Now I‘m getting ready to crochet a #bookcover #grannysquare for my #readingblanket
Okay, first of all, how cool are these endpapers??
Sutton Foster is a Broadway star who has crafted most of her life.
The various things she has made bring her back to certain times in her life - some happy, some not so much.
The only thing I have ever seen Foster in was Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life 😄 Despite not really knowing much about her, I enjoyed reading about her life and her love for crochet in particular.
A great palate cleanser after an emotionally draining epic but not without its own heartbreak. Follow the life and career of Sutton Foster, Broadway and TV sweetheart, through difficult relationships, the world of musical theater and lots of crafts to cope with the stresses of it all. I related to her most as a crocheter and how having a hobby is key to discovering your true self. 🥰🥰
When the Boston Conservatory at Berklee asked me to give the commencement speech to its 2019 graduating class, my answer was an enthusiastic “Yes!”.

So much more than a book about crafting. Very good memoir.
An interesting look at crafting as a way to calm a busy mind and to practice self care, this memoir is a nice read even if, like me, you have no idea who Sutton Foster is. Full review at http://booknaround.blogspot.com/2021/12/review-hooked-by-sutton-foster.html
Audible‘s deal of the day. I‘m tempted even though I haven‘t a clue who she is. #litsycrafters @Catsandbooks @curiouserandcurioser
Just bought this audiobook, I think she was reading my mind!
Funny and emotional. Made me want to learn how to crochet.
A huge Broadway fan, I've loved Sutton Foster ever since my teenage self got a bootleg cassette (!) of her performance as Eponine- and my appreciation of her talent has only grown since then. This book focuses on her career and relationships, especially with her mother, and is centered around the various crafts which have helped to preserve her mental health. Word to the wise: get this on audio; unsurprisingly, her performance doesn't disappoint!
I'm so excited to read the book I got for my birthday!! My bf and I watched all of Younger together so I'm excited to read about Sutton's life and crafts 😁❤📚
This is a fun book to listen to while doing craft projects. My sister gave me this bling bookmark kit for Xmas. It was fun.
I was cross stitching for most of the book. Sutton refers to cross stitch as the gateway craft.
This memoir through art projects is awesome. I love Sutton Foster.

I wasn‘t familiar with the author, an actress, but the concept of the book intrigued me. I also discovered she grew up where I did, in Troy, Michigan! Mostly a memoir, she does reflect on her craft hobbies have gotten her through tough times. This book is also an ode to Patti Lupone.
I‘m always entertained Sutton Foster and first learned of her from the casting of Younger rather than her many Broadway credits. Her relationship with her mother is fascinating, but my favorite part was her fangirling over Patty LuPone. …Oh, and reading her Instagram, she designed and crocheted her sweater on the cover!
Oh my goodness! The idea of crafting here is just the "hook" (pun intended) to tie this lovely memoir together. I was absolutely charmed by Foster and her story and will be buying copies of this one for the musical theater fans in my life for the holidays. #ARC #netgalley
Using important craft pieces as a focal point for stories about her life around each piece, and of course talking about how crafting has been important to her, made this a really interesting audio. YMMV, but some of the mom stuff, especially as her mom got sicker, made me glad I was hike alone listening during that stretch.
This was a surprise hit! While I don‘t know much about musical theater and have never watched Younger, Sutton‘s memoir was warm and funny. She is big into crochet, cross-stitch, and other crafts and takes a piece from each stage of her life and shows how they relate. From her first touring company to losing her mother to welcoming her daughter…there‘s a craft for that! The #audiobook narration is excellent.
