Just “Luck“ and Stethoscope to do for a full sweep for the entire year, including bonus cards! And I have books lined up for both of those.

Sounds sticky.
At first, the whole marriage topic was a bit too much for me. Until it turned queer, and once again I realize that the whole romance thing works for me when it's queer 😅 At the end there was a moment when I thought, the end might disappoint me. But Alexis Hall pulled it off in a very touching way. So yes, another hit, and another book by Hall I couldn't put away. Loved, how much the characters have grown and how they're working on themselves.
Now that they've been dating for two years what is the next step for Luc and Oliver?
Again, very funny and I would love to read more about their lives although I'm not particularly invested in them as a couple.
I gave a deeply uncertain shrug. The thing about our friendship group—and I very much included myself in this—was that we were always helpful but rarely useful.
I dare say I enjoyed this hoot of a sequel even more than the first book. Rowdy, turbulent & downright hysterical, Husband Material is a ludicrous string of laugh-out-loud moments, second-hand cringe & a-helluva-lot of bickering/sarky remarks between a chaos demon and a consummate professional while following the rough outline of Four Weddings and a Funeral. For all the ambivalence over the ending, I thought it was a surprising and fitting twist!
⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was fine. I liked the characters from the first book, but where Boyfriend Material had the will they/won‘t they back and forth, the stakes here seemed really low and the conflict was basically the main characters bickering. Worth a look if you liked the first book, but not a pick on its own.
2023 Reads continued...
HM : Still loved the banter between Luc and Oliver, not sure on that ending though. I await book 3: Father Material
A little early summer reading. It will be in the 40s next week but it is 81 today!
the sequel to boyfriend material. Luc and Oliver have been together for 2 years now and feel the martial pressure as everyone around them gets married. Follows them through 3 weddings, 1 funeral, and the final wedding is their‘s, but things are always complicated with these two who communicate well most of the time but clearly not always. honestly this was a money grab and could have been a novella if we‘re being honest.
January wrap up and it was a bit of a slow month. Some good reads though and the tagged one was my favourite read. Hoping for more next month.
Oh I love these two so much. The development they've gone through and that's both of them. This was so good and makes me just want more. The plot was interesting and I liked the four weddings and a funeral reference. The ending was just so right for them. I love that they finally found the right path for them. I must say I do love Alex he's hilarious. A brilliant sequel. 5*
Luc & Oliver have managed to keep their relationship afloat for 2 years, they are in a good place together, and both are working on themselves. When Luc runs into his betraying ex and finds out he‘s engaged, things seem to unravel.
4 weddings and a funeral later, Luc and Oliver have some serious decisions to make.
I love these two, they‘re broken, flawed, and ridiculous but they somehow work.
Finished 10/5/2022
Alexis Hall is one of the few writers that can make me laugh out loud, and I got a lot of laughs out of this sequel (especially Alex Twaddle!) I love Luc and Oliver but I didn‘t love this quite as much as the first book, always hard for a sequel to quite recreate the delight of first discovery, still very good!
2.75/5 ⭐️ Bit of a disappointment with this sequel. There was so much fighting and the ending wasn't very satisfying.
I was happy to learn Alexis Hall wrote a second book of Luc and Oliver. The read is super cute and easy to get through. After a long week, this book was just what I needed to uplift the craziness for a little while.
Just finished listening to this funny and sweet audiobook. This book starts up two years after Boyfriend Material- things are going well but all their friends are getting married- what‘s the next step in their relationship? I read Boyfriend Material as an ebook- I‘m thinking I should definitely listen to the audiobook. Loved it but do wear ear buds - lots of f-bombs -👍👍💚🐉
As much as I was looking forward to this one, it was so hard for me to pick up and start. Sequels can go either way and I was a bit content to stay in the HFN from book one. But I did end up enjoying it once I got started. Luc and Oliver still have a lot of issues to work out and the character development felt realistic. As always, the coworkers and friends were hilarious and the best part

Joe Jameson narration was spot on & there were some pretty funny parts in this homage to four weddings and a funeral. But sequels about the same couple are challenging & this just didn‘t delight the same way Boyfriend Material did. It‘s a pick but not an enthusiastic one. #romcom
Apart from the satisfying ending, I had a really hard time getting into this. Just me??! I mean the audio was stellar and there were funny spots…
WHAT?! How is it going to just end there, like that?! There better be another one. I seriously need another one. I love Luc and Oliver, and seriously I need more of Oliver saying “Lucien” an octave lower than everything else he says, and Luc being neurotic and over thinking. I also need to know they‘re okay - really okay!

Wonderful! Laugh out loud funny, these fellas have a lot to work through to find their happily ever after and I loved cheering them on all along the way. There are some difficult themes, grief, homophobia, parental strife. I‘ll miss Lucien and Oliver and their madcap group of friends.
Only. Luc‘s. Mother.
😂🤣😂
I‘m dying.

I really enjoyed this follow up to Boyfriend Material. It is definitely a tribute to the movie Four Weddings & a Funeral. I can‘t say much more, because spoilers but it wraps up the story well. 4⭐️
🤣😂🤣
Just read this to yourself in a French accent.

Can we just take a moment to discuss the INCREDIBLE way Joe Jameson (the narrator of the audiobook) says the word “Lucien.” I‘m not even luc, but let me tell you it makes my toes curl. He already does Oliver‘s voice deeper than Luc‘s, but I swear he says “Lucien” is twice as low as everything else Oliver says. And WHEN is Luc going to retaliate by taking up calling Oliver, Oli?! I mean, seriously.
#AlexisHall #HusbandMaterial #audiobook #lgbtq
I love when Luc wants to do dirty things to Oliver in random places… like a car park… at his best friend‘s wedding. 🤣😂🤣
#AlexisHall #HusbandMaterial #audiobook #lgbtq
I have a feeling our Lucien has spent plenty more than “slightly too long” looking at Oliver.

@TheBookHippie I feel like this would be great comic relief for our philosophy discussions.

Let‘s just be clear, they were calling him a twAt, because of the labia hat! Where does one even get a labia hat crochet pattern?

I started this on the bus yesterday morning. I absolutely cannot get enough of this!!! I am so in love with Oliver and Luc!!!

I loved this sequel to Boyfriend Material and am so excited we're getting even more books including PARENT MARERIAL! After going to a series of friends weddings, Luc and Oliver decide to get married themselves. But the stress of wedding planning might just ruin their happy day. Some good tension without being over the top dramatic, though considering Luc is always dramatic... still a little dramatic 😅
My third #AugustARC so far this month.
August 18 #ArtfulAugust Released in August Since I read the first book with the #LitsyRomanceBookClub I think this one would also be a good one as it continues Luc and Oliver's story. @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs
This book is every bit as snarky, heartwarming, and hilarious as the first one. I also loved the homage to Four Weddings and a Funeral.
I‘m having mixed feelings about the end. I‘m definitely leaning toward positive feelings. But I think I need to reread this one down the line to sort those feelings. Ultimately, here‘s what I came away with:
*This book made me laugh a lot.
*It made me smile even more
*And it left me thinking.
Any more details than that feel like spoilers. And if you want those spoiler details, I‘m happy to chat about them in the comments with spoiler settings.
I…..do not know what to think. I quite enjoyed most of the book, but the ending really threw me. The banter and the wit was great, and I loved revisiting the lively characters, but I was a wee bit disappointed in the ending.
