Claire Keegan drafts her story so carefully and tenderly that I was pulled in from the start. A father drops his daughter at the farm of an aunt and uncle she hardly knows. She has no idea how long she will have to stay and is very scared. However from the first moments onwards the couple just show her love and tenderness. The girl learns about life, trust and grief. Keegan manages to do so in as few pages as possible. Perfection.
Thanks Cindy💖

squirrelbrain Ooh, good choice for the #52books23 prompt- I may have to use this one for the same prompt. 2y

sarahbarnes Beautiful review. 💙 I‘m excited to read this one and even more so now! 2y
KarenUK So excited for this. 💕 2y
Librarybelle I definitely need to read this! 2y
Cinfhen So glad you loved it!!! 2y
BarbaraBB @TrishB @sarahbarnes @LeeRHarry @KarenUK @Librarybelle It really is so good. In under 100 pages Keegan knows how to build a story so well. And it lingers on a long time afterward. Thanks again for choosing this one for me @Cinfhen ❤️ 2y

A light-hearted story about 2 grown-up sisters, one sister‘s sensitive son, and their aging advice-columnist mother as all their relationships with their significant others implode simultaneously. The banter between the family is witty, and it‘s a warm, lovable family unit. But the startup/influencer storyline felt a little forced. It gave me Elin Hildebrand vibes with an NYC edge…. Fun, fluffy but a bit forgettable… a light 3⭐️pick.

KarenUK And finally, I feel I have to do the first Barnes & Noble 52 book challenge! #BN2023challenge #anauthoryouvenotheardofbefore I really managed a #quadripledip !!!! 🍦🍦🍦🍦 2y
Cinfhen Wait? What?!?! B& N is doing a challenge?! Fun 🤩 (edited) 2y
squirrelbrain Yay for the quadruple dip! I just did one too. But, la, la, la I don‘t want to hear about any more challenges… 🙉 2y
KarenUK Yep! @Cinfhen @squirrelbrain They posted it a couple of days ago on Instagram, so I kind of have to do it! Luckily I‘ll be able to double/triple dip a lot!!! 😉 https://www.instagram.com/p/CmwLXnnuyMC/?igshid=Zjc2ZTc4Nzk= 2y
Cinfhen I was tempted @squirrelbrain but I‘m holding back… 2y
Cinfhen Congrats on the #quadruple 🙌🏻🎉💖 2y
squirrelbrain Oh dear, I don‘t have Insta so I can‘t see it properly… phew! 😮‍💨 2y
BarbaraBB I had no idea so many people participated in #52bookclub23! I have to make a taglist! For #pop23 you can add (as far as I know) @AshleyHoss820 @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick and @RaeLovesToRead 2y
AshleyHoss820 @KarenUK I saw their instagram post and decided to give that one a go too! They have some good prompts! 2y
KarenUK @AshleyHoss820 Nice to have a challenge buddy! 👍💕 2y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I am focusing on #Booked2023 & #52BookClub23 this year (I get lazy & just use #52books) but am also trying to see how far I can get with #pop23, read harder, b & n, and maybe one or two others. Someone on instagram released a We Didn't Start the Fire challenge with 132 prompts. I might count one book for multiple prompts on that one & track just for fun. It's a fun addiction. 2y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @BarbaraBB ☝️See above comment. I accidentally removed your tag. 2y
BarbaraBB So many challenges! I am over my head into challenges as well. Not sure where I‘ll end up with #pop23, doing #booked2023 and #52books as well. And now I must check out the big one on Instagram as well 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick (edited) 2y

I have the luxury of living in a country with strong gun laws so I probably will never know what it‘s like to live in fear after a mass shooting like Columbine. I do remember being unable to both fathom why the US is the way it is about guns, but also how the parents did not know. Reading this book has been very enlightening, plus raising boys of my own. My heart breaks for all involved. #NonFiction2019 #FromAnotherPointOfView #Pop19 #AboutAFamily

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I haven‘t read this one, I know it will be a tough read. 6y
CouronneDhiver I agree with your review completely ... very grateful to live in a place with fewer gun issues 6y
AnneFindsJoy Nicely said! I have had this on my list to read, but never seem to feel strong enough to tackle it - I live in the US with two boys at schools, and this topic saddens, terrifies, angers me! 6y

This one surprised me.I got it from kindle first & description sounded okay, not my normal cup of tea but I would try it. In the very beginning I didn't think the main character Suzanne had much to offer and her family gave me anxiety. I considered bailing but I'm glad I didn't because the characters soon developed and the story was interesting as well as inspiring. & loved that passions in life were rediscovered.

TrishB I got this on kindle first too 👍🏻 your review makes it sound interesting! 6y
HeathHof @TrishB I'm always a little iffy when it comes to diverting from the TBR but this was a pretty quick & good read. 6y
TrishB I never have a plan! 6y
