#BlameItOn @Hooked_on_books I‘ve been reading a lot of messy family books, and while this was enjoyable, I had trouble connecting to it and rooting for these characters.

Lata and Suresh have divorced. She has a job for the first time and a professor flirting with her. Suresh is on the dating apps and traveling to meet new women. Meanwhile one adult child is having an affair and the other is a new dad who is keeping a big secret from his parents.

Hooked_on_books It‘s SO good on audio. I have a feeling the audio really elevates it. It‘s a full cast performing it and I was so engaged by it. @Cinfhen go for the audio if you can find it! 2y

#RecentAcquisitions It‘s the time of the month when I decide what to carry over from June to July‘s TBR and start adding new ones. I‘ve got two by O‘Farrell for #AuthorAMonth (and two more I own), plus a #BlameItOn @Hooked_on_books (Bloomers), and another from Fuller‘s backlist. (I‘m excited about her latest in August for #CampLitsy23, too!)

Honeybees was a Parnassus purchase and @squirrelbrain rec. And I loved my signed Helen Ellis (tagged)!

This week IJ kicked my butt. I just wasn‘t feeling it. Both Damnation and Mean Baby are minor disappointments so far. Sigh.

Looking forward to next week! I‘ve got How High We Go #reread for #CampLitsy, Basic Black for #NYRBBookClub, and 7 Days for #SummerHeat. It‘s always fun to read with friends! I‘m trying to get more fiction in, but my library‘s nonfiction audiobooks have been 🔥🔥 this month. Wild Places is a #BlameItOn @Chelsea.Poole 😁

Megabooks @IamIamIam yeah, it just didn‘t hit me right. I‘m still thinking it through. I don‘t think it‘s bad, but maybe not right for me. The crying at emotional parts of the audiobook sounded fake to me, which was annoying. 3y

Megabooks @BarbaraBB I am. I liked it, and I don‘t remember a lot of the specifics of books, especially if I initially read them on audio. It‘s probably fine if you don‘t reread. I guess I just want to be over-prepared for our first week. I was always that kid in school! 😂😂 3y

Megabooks @Chelsea.Poole yeah. It was too long…just kind of dragged…I didn‘t like the ending. Some of the characters were absolutely abhorrent! I don‘t know. Just kinda didn‘t work for me. I have it at 3⭐️ now but I‘m still thinking about it. 3y

It just came out, so it‘ll probably be in there as a daily deal sometime between Halloween and thanksgiving. I really enjoyed it, and I think you would too. I am going to say it is The Hills Have Eyes with Stephanie Plum and Lula if Rex were a coonhound! Funny, creepy, really great narrator for the audiobook- I laughed out loud between the frightening bits! Grandma who hated everyone and hoarded babydolls dies and Mouse and her dog Bongo have to clear the mess!
