This was a great overview of some of the different types of witchcraft. There are spells on an introductory and intermediate level to go with them. I really enjoyed it and have marked out a bunch of new things to try 💜🖤💜

Elissa intertwines her experience as a Native woman with cultural aspects of her life and examines occult trends compared to her observations of the power of magic. She goes into detail about her past abusive relationships, PTSD, and alcoholism & her search for love and meaning in her life.
Mixed feelings about this one. It's a powerful account of trauma and the effects of colonialism but sometimes I had a hard time following the narrative.

This was an intense slow burn second chance vampire romance. Set in the same world as Bryn's Guide to Dating Vampire series, but earlier in the timeline - the 90s. It follows Diego, a trans-NB vampire who works at a club offering scenes for vampire/human couples. Then their high school boyfriend shows up after ten years begging for forgiveness for his past betrayal and Diego has to decide whether they can trust the new Maddox.

Okay I didn't think it was possible but this was even cuter than the first book! Garlic goes on a new adventure away from her little village and internally struggles with the changes that are happening to her and her vegetable friends. I loved seeing anxious Garlic come into her own! I hope this series continues 🧄❤️

Gosh I really loved this book. The writing is beautiful, almost lyrical sometimes, and the story was so compelling & moving.
It is a ghost story, a love story. It's about grief & how difficult it is to move forward. It's about family & identity and what it means to feel like you don't belong.
I loved the subtle magical realism of it all. I appreciate the indigenous perspective of this author & the depth it brings to her characters and storytelling

A single mother moves her family to a remote island so she can paint a mural in an old lighthouse owned by the wealthiest man in town, when 2 of her daughters suddenly go missing. 20yrs later 1 of them is found, but she hasn‘t aged at all.

Loved how this book pays homage to the unnamed ppl burned at the stake for witchcraft.

A young man who is born into unfortunate circumstances in 18th century France has such a hyper refined sense of smell that he experiences the world through scent. He becomes a perfumer, and spends his life trying to create for the perfect scent.
