The tagged book is a light pick. I loved most of this book but there is a part that didn‘t move the story forward that I didn‘t think was needed and the ending was weak. There are some good nuggets in The Things You Can See.

I‘ve just started Black Woods and it‘s getting a bit weird. Also just started Wintering. Loving Wedding People. Sense & Sensibility is lovely as always.

Great #SundayBuddyRead selection to kick off 2025. I read a lot of WWII books, but this one is from the perspective of a young American woman, working for her uncle at the Grand Hotel in the south of France at the eve of the war & the 1939 Cannes Film Festival. Loved the glimpses of real classic film (& literary) stars of the times & the tense & action-packed story. Didn‘t love the ending, but overall a really good read.
A good historical fiction novel that showcases the glamor of Hollywood and film along the French Riviera at the Grand Hotel, set against the backdrop of the start of WWII. There‘s romance and a thriller-esque thread woven into the storytelling. The list of who‘s who in Hollywood in 1939 is staggering, and the MC Annabel (who knows photography) mingles with them all (hence my choice for #BBRC #Adult #Paparazzi ).
Great #SundayBuddyRead choice!
Another great read!
I enjoyed all of the celebrities that were in the book and it was interesting to see a different perspective of WWII through the eyes of these glamorous people. 4⭐️

Another #AuldLangSpine winner from @Jerdencon I hadn‘t read this author before. I enjoyed how she mixed her characters on with real life celebrities in this story of life in the French Riviera before World War II came to France.
CA writes historical fiction, this story is set in the summer of 1939 in the Côte d‘Azure at the inaugural Cannes Film Festival. It‘s exciting and informative. I like CA best when she is retelling history, when she is just telling a story it always feels rushed. I don‘t know why she can‘t just take her time with her part of the story ( I live for the day I finish Lark Rise to Boredom) #sundaybuddyread
Totally absorbed in Annabel‘s journey. It was so so hard to stop reading & wait for the next section‘s dates!!!! 💖💖💖 #sundaybuddyread
We are reading The Great Gatsby right now in 11th grade English. It endures, like so many classic books.
I slept in until 10:00 am. Unheard of for me! So apologies to #sundaybuddyread group . I am catching up on reading now. 💖
I tried to pace myself with this book & only read the required chapters for the week for the #SUNDAYBUDDYREAD but I could NOT put this book down! I‘m a huge fan of Old Hollywood & I loved seeing the main character interact with all of these famous people, right on the cusp of WWII. I read a lot of WWII fiction & this was from a new perspective that I hadn‘t thought about but really appreciate. I‘m also ready to dive into some more ⬇️
#SaturdayChatterday
The usual Saturday running errands & hanging out at the coffeeshop having lunch & some “replenishment” time with my new-ish magazine & paper book & starting the tagged book for #SundayBuddyRead discussion tomorrow.
Starting my first 2025 #sundaybuddyread today and loving being back in the south of France #pretendholiday

Tonight I spent #hyggehour with my husband watching some very good tributes to President Carter.
