Thanks to @hes7 for the suggestion on #bookaboutaddiction for #booked2019. This was a fast read, and while It wasn‘t a light story, the graphic memoir format made it very enjoyable. Krosoczka did not have an easy childhood but he recognizes that while also appreciating the love and some level of privilege he did have. Each character has many dimensions, which is perhaps the most impressive part in the graphic novel format.

This was like watching a reality TV show with all the friendships and drama but where you get to see what goes on behind the scenes too; all the low points of being a ‘star‘ (and there is a lot of them in the latter half). I‘m glad to have finally read it after it being on my tbr for years 💕 #booked2019 #bookaboutaddiction ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a really interesting book about addiction. It was both funny and sad/ scary and I really felt like it was raw and honest at the same time. I really think the author took the time to show the despair and difficulties of living a life with addiction. The writing was great and quick to get through even though the subject matter was tough. #booked2019

An absolutely remarkable mix of memoir and dissertation on substance abuse and creativity. Jamison also expounds on the socioeconomic forces that influence our country‘s approach to addiction and who we tend to see as victims vs. who we see as criminals. It is a VAST undertaking that I spent about a month with but it will stick with me far longer. 5⭐️ 👇🏼

I listened to this on audio and it encouraged me to de clutter and pitch stuff, so that‘s a win. 😆 The lesson that resonated with me the most was to buy things you need, and not for the person you want to be. I find myself buying things to fit a persona that I want to emulate, so that has been in the back of my mind. Since the author deals with addiction to alcohol and shopping, I‘m counting this for #booked2019 #bookaboutaddiction

This book is exciting and trashy and all kinds of depressing, and I might have really loved it. The ending made me SO depressed and there was some hard to swallow language and fat shaming in it that I can‘t bring myself to give it 5 stars on Goodreads JUST YET. #Booked2019 #bookaboutaddiction #spoileralert #its💊💊

Raw and compelling view on addiction. Made me start an open dialogue with my kids. Worth the read for every parent!
